Rose point of view

It's been almost a week since the little confrontation I had with Dimitri. Lissa and Eddie saw everything including the kiss and they never spoke of it again, which I was happy about. Every time Lissa would have a session with Dimitri she would always send me to extra hours some where, I didn't complain. Dimitri needed time to think, he knew I was all for forgiving him and it was up to him now. I wasn't going to push or even fight. His words where my last strike in fighting for him. He would have to come to me this time. Today Lissa had assigned me guarding the front gate while she was with Dimitri. To be honest it was quite boring. The only thing I had to do was open the gate and check those who came in by making sure they weren't human or Strigoi. I had guard duty for about one hour. The gates where open as I was letting in some people when I heard a noise. I instantly took my stake. I scanned the area on the other side of the wards and didn't see anything until a human walked up to me. I quickly placed my stake back in its place. I was going to have to use the cover story that we use with humans. I was about to speak but she beat me to it.

" Save it Mongrel, I come at the request of your father" she said as she placed the packet on the floor on the other side of the wards and quickly left.

" why does the old man always do that" I thought to myself as I passed the wards and quickly scanning the area before I took the packet.

I closed the gates and quickly went to see what the packet was about. I opened it and the letter said...

"There are people after you because of Belikov. I advice you not to leave the wards... With love your old man" it said.

I stood quiet about it as I smelled something familiar. The smell of cigarettes, Adrian was near. He quickly found me and I smiled at him. Adrian needed someone better for him, which clearly wasn't me. He needed someone who could settle down and have a family like he always wanted. I knew that with my profession, I didn't meet those standards. He smiled at me as he leaned in and gave me a small tender kiss.

" Little Dhampir, how do you feel about accompanying me to a family dinner?" He said with his sexy smile.

I looked at him and I instantly groaned.

" Why do I have to go?, you know I don't like those type of stuff" I said.

His smile grew wider because he knew that I don't like them.

" Baby do it for me, it's really important for me that you attend as my date. You know I don't like hanging out with my family members ever since my aunt was murdered the Ivashkov family isn't much a whole. I need you" Adrian begged with his beautiful eyes.

I tried looking away from those eyes, why did everyone know that it was my weakness when people begged.

" Fine I'll go" I said at him.

"Thank you so much, I talked to my mother stylist and she designed a dress for you which should be in your room now. I'll be by your place around 7ish so we can leave. I talked to Lissa and she agreed to letting me borrow you as my guardian for the event because its outside of court" he told me as he gave me a soft hug.

We hugged for a while but I wasn't comfortable, the only arms I would feel comfortable in and melt in were Dimitri's arms. But I couldn't think of it, I already said what I needed to say. I promised myself I wouldn't fight for him. Adrian leaned in and gave me a gentle kiss. At first I didn't react to it but after I did. Adrian was a good kisser but not like Dimitri. Our little kiss was instantly cut short as I pulled away.

As we walked to my place hand in hand people would give us dirty looks. Especially to me since I'm dating a Ivashkov which before his aunt didn't like me. No Ivashkov dated a Dhampir. Adrian walked happily as he didn't care what other people thought of us. We got to my place. I was about to open the door when one of Lissa chef's came to me. Her name was Faith I think.

" Hey Rose, I made you some brownies. Left them in the kitchen if you want" she said with a laugh.

She clearly knew brownies were one of my weakness. I turned to Adrian as I grabbed his hand.

"Come on" I said as I pushed him.

Faith laughed and she opened the door wide for me to pass. Adrian laughed the entire way as I pushed him to the kitchen. My smile quickly faded when I saw Lissa with Dimitri.

"Hey Liss" I said as I gave her a side hug.

"Hey, Faith made you brownies" she said and instant silence followed. she watched me go for it.

The entire time Dimitri didn't say anything but I felt his eyes on me. I didn't even turn to look at him.

"I should go, Thank you Lissa for having me" Dimitri said to her.

" No problem you know you can come any time" Lissa said as she tried to be nice.

"Good bye Guardian Hathaway" he said and quickly left.

Liss and me looked at each other for a short period of time but then I got back to my brownies. They where the best, Faith really did a great job.

"Rose, one of Adrian tailors came and droped of a dress for you" Liss said.

"I know, when were you going to tell me that you agreed to me being his guardian for that night?" I asked her.

"I know, but it's a date night. You deserve some time away" Lissa said she dragged me to my room.

As soon as I walked into my room I instantly saw the dress laying on my bed. Lissa and me walked to my bed and I was memorized by it. The dress was blood red a one shoulder dress. On one side of the dress had silver drapes that went down almost around my waist. There where some red high heels they had little bows. I found a note that was carefully placed. It said...

My derest Rose,

I hope you love the dress. I can't wait to see you wearing the dress.

I showed the note to Lissa and she smiled. Lissa stayed in my room the entire time as I got ready. We gossiped about the littlest things every. After her coronation we haven't had a time like this in so long, I did really miss when it was just us no heart break and no boys. But life changes and we just had to learn to accept it. I curled my hair into simple curls which always looked great with my long hair. I also did a simple makeup I didn't want to go over board with it. I haven't cut my hair since I joined the Academy again I wasn't either. Dimitri liked it like that. I looked into my draws and found a corset that I can place my stake in my things. I placed the dress on. I looked at myself in the mirror for a long time.

"Rose you look gorgeous" Lissa said as she saw me looking at myself in the mirror.

I took a deep breath as I placed a simple necklace on. Lissa was about to take a picture of me when we heard a knock on my door.

"Come in" I said as I got on the heels.

Liza came walking in a she bowed to Lissa then turned to me.

"Guardian Hathaway Lord Ivashkov is here waiting for you in the living room, what should I tell him?"she asked.

"Tell him I'll be down in a sec" I told her and she left.

I looked at myself in the mirror one last time before I left with Lissa in front of me.

"Adrian" Lissa said as she greeted him first.

"Cousin, it's so great to see you"Adrian said as he hugged her.

I walked down the stairs and when he noticed me his jaws instanly droped to the floor. I knew the dress looked great on me I didn't complain. Adrian did know how to dress his women.

"If you keep your mouth open any longer you'll catch a fly" I said as I closed his mouth for him.

"Dammn babe you look just... Wow" Adrian said as he couldn't keep his eyes from wondering my entire body and stopping at my breast.

"You guys better go, you don't want to be late. Tell Danielle I said hi" Lissa said as she rushed us out the house.

"What's her problem?" I thought to myself as we walked to Adrian car.

Adrian opened the car door for me and he quickly took the drivers seat. The destination we were going was a little long. I say about an hour because even thou it was night time for Humans it was kind of packed. The letter that the old man send me this morning came to my mind again...

"There are people after you because of Belikov. I advice you not to leave the wards... With love your old man" it said.

Adrian suddenly stopped at this restaurant. He got out his side and went to open the door for me. We walked in hand in hand as I made a quick check of my surroundings. It's a guardian habit, you always have to check the place your stepping into. The restaurant on the inside was so beautiful it was decorated almost like a wine valley I say. Some guy came to us he looked like a moroi.

"Lord Ivashkov, it great to see you" he said.

"Thank you Alex"Adrian said.

Alex turned his attention to me and did the same as Adrian he looked at me front top to bottom.

"This must be Rose Hathaway, it's a pleasure meeting you"He said.

"Same to you" I said.

"Come this way your family is waiting"He said as we followed him down a hallway. As we where about to walk inside Adrian stopped and so did Alex.

"Ladies first" they said at the same time.

"Weirdos" I thought to myself as I walked in.

"SURPRISE!" everyone in the room yelled.

Everyone who I consider family was here. Alberta,Mom, Abe, Lissa, Christian, Mia, etc. I would have never expected this. I would have fought thousands of strigoi. But this I never saw coming. I realized today was March 27 my 19th birthday. Today marked a year that I set on the journey to kill my one true love. Those memories came back to me. The one I had with Lissa when she found out about my relationship with Dimitri and how I told her of the promised Dimitri and me made to each other that if we ever got turned we could kill each other,me leaving her behind. My thought got the best of me as I didn't even feel Adrian arms around my waist. He placed his lips on my ears.

"Happy birthday Rose" He whispered in my ear.

I turned facing him, he did all of this for me.

'You planned this?"I asked him.

"Of course, I couldn't let your birthday pass, you deserve this and much more" He said he kissed me.

"Thank you. No one has ever done this for me" I said as I tried to keep the tears from falling.

"Don't let them see you cry" I thought to myself as I placed my guardian mask but I showed some emotion.

Everyone came to greet us more to me. They all wished me a happy birthday. As I talked to my friends my thoughts went at how I spent my 18th birthday. In Russia after my lover the one that I did my best to save and now he regretted me. The part that hit me hard was when he had me captive and the fighting in the bridge. Those where the hardest times I had ever faced in my life. The fact that I had to loose something so important that belong to me. I didn't even notice that tears where coming down. I quickly whipped them away. I wasn't in the mood of celebrating anything, but I kept my head held high. Adrian came to me with a box.

"For you my love"He said as he handed me the present.

"You didn't have already did enough planning this party" I said as I took the gift.

I quickly opened it and the smile I had on my face suddenly died. In the box was a replica of the rose necklace Victor Dashkov gave the one with the lust charm that made Dimtri's feelings for me arise. Tears started to come down. I looked at him as I knew he bought this with so much enthusiasm.

" I'm sorry I can't" I said as I walked away from him leaving the room.

I didn't know where I was going but I instantly stopped in this beautiful garden. The tears kept coming down as I remember the time of the lust charm the way Dimitri didn't deny what he felt.

"A lust charm only works when both have mutual feelings" I remember Victor said when Dimitri and me visited him in a jail sail.

"Roza" I heard someone call me.

It was him. Dimitri he was the only one that ever called me that. I whipped my tears away and faced him.

"Who invited you?" I thought to myself.

"You should be in there parting up a storm. The Rose I met would have given everything to be the center of attention in a party."Dimitri said with a laugh.

His words only made me cry harder. I had given up everything to save his soul. I even broke into a prison to find a way to restore him. Dimitri sat next to me as he took my hands.

"I want to say I'm sorry. I am so sorry for destroying your life. I would have sold my soul so you wouldn't had suffer on your birthday. A day you wished for so long before you know happened" Dimitri said he didn't need to finish.

"Dimitri you didn't destroyed my life. You showed me what true love was,I gave my body and my soul all to you. Dimitri your my end and my beginning. I love your imperfections every single part of you" I said as I softly took his face in my hands

"I did so much damage to you, I have nightmares of those nights. When he took blood from you. Lissa told me everything you went threw after you came back" He cried as he hugged me by the waist.

" I forgave you, the Dimitri back in Russia wasn't you. My Dimitri the one I love he was gentle and sweet. The way you had me in your arms so gently which felt like heaven to me, That the best memory that I carry and cherish. You where the one that thought me what true love is. Your my heaven" I said as I helped him up.

"My angel" Dimitri said as he leaned in and kissed me.

The kiss wasn't like the one we had in the hotel room. This one was sweet but full of passion. Slowly the kiss started to increased but I pulled away.

"Don't please. Why are you playing with me" I said almost yelling.

"Why was he playing with my feelings?" I thought to myself.

"I..I'm sorry I thought that by pushing you away I was protecting you. I.." He said

"But..." I interrupted

"Listen." He said our faces were still close. "I realize now that it was all a mistake. I should have kept you close. You were right all along I have been lying to myself. But it's only because I can't yet forgive myself for hurting the one person I've ever loved. I'm sorry Roza. I'm Yours. You didn't give up on me in that darkest of times and now I won't give up on you. I realize that I can't spend another day without having you in my arms" He said his arms tightening around be.

I had no words to describe how I felt. With each word he said my world brighten. I was safe. I was with him.

" Took you long Comrade! I thought I would grow old waiting for you" I told him smiling.

"Your crazy and I'm out of my mind." He said smiled as he once again kissed me.
