Well, guess it's been long enough.
'I do hope I'm right about this...' Octavia thought to herself, galloping down a dirt path leading away from town, the wind still strong in the opposite direction. She lost track of how long she had been chasing after the blue stallion that has been causing her nothing but trouble.
"Oh why did he have to leave Canterlot!" she muttered under her
heavy breathing. It was so simple before he came back. He was a sore part of her past she was more than happy to leave behind, but out of nowhere he just pops up, upturning her whole life!
'Why on earth am I even bothering for this buffoon! Just because he's friends with Vinyl doesn't mean-'
Octavia slowed down and stopped, sighing softly. Vinyl. That's why she was doing this, her friend. That was enough to get her resolve back. 'If Frequency means that much to her, I'll just have to stomach him...' She started off again, determined to bring him back... for Vinyl's sake.
Wait, what was that...? There was the slight noise, audible above the drone of the mundane forest life. She listened carefully, straining her ears. Whistling, pitches... a melody to a song! Octavia raced forward, galloping harder and harder towards the sounds of music in the air, becoming more audible the further she got, soon being able to easily confirm that was indeed Frequency, the sound of his wings carried out through the breeze.
As she made it over the next hill she saw him, just a little past the base. She quickly remembered the violin back home, not sure why. It made her hesitate a little, not out of doubt... but that could wait for another time.
"Frequency! Up here!" she yelled, trying to get his attention over the wind and music. He jumped suddenly and turned around, confused. He obviously hadn't been expecting anyone out here, let alone her most of all.
Frequency stood there, rubbing his shoulder as she approached "Oh, uhmm... Hello Octavia, what brings you out here?" Octavia just rolled her eyes "Quiet, you know very well the reason I trudged myself out into this wilderness! Vinyl has been worrying herself all day trying to find you! I'd be surprised if the whole town itself hasn't been razed by now!" He lowered his head and sighed. As he opened his mouth to speak, Octavia cut him off.
"And another thing! Not only did you leave Vinyl without so much as a word of farewell, you also left some of your things behind. So, as the gentlecolt you claim yourself to be, I suggest you accompany me back to right these wrongs."
He looked up, slightly confused for a moment before the realization dawned on him as to what she really meant. He smiled gently, nodding. "Very well then, I'll come back to fix my transgressions." They turned around, starting the long walk back home.
Vinyl was tearing Ponyville apart searching for Frequency, double and triple checking everywhere he might be and some he would never be. "Gah! I'm gonna kill the guy when I find him!"
As Vinyl galloped through the square, she suddenly got caught in a giant fishing net. "What in the heck!?" As she got lifted up, Pinkie's head filled her scope of vision. "Vinyl? What are you doing in my grubblesnarf net? ... Unless you ARE a grubblesnarf!" Pinkie quickly eyed Vinyl over, then shrank back and smiled brightly "Nope! Not a grubblesnarf, you're good!"
Vinyl just groaned, "Pinky just let me out of this thing, I have to find Frequency! Plus... WHY ARE YOU IN A HOT AIR BALLOON IN THE SQUARE!?" She yelled, strunggling several feet in the air, the large hot air balloon floating quite a ways over the town square. Pinkie tapped her chin, "That's a good point. Grubblesnarfs really are more of a river creature, are definitely more of a river creature, aren't they?" Vinyl just rolled her eyes, the net suddenly tearing and letting her fall back to earth. She quickly got back up, rubbing her head "Owww! Just what I needed, a headache on top of a headache."
Vinyl looked around, determined to not give up even as she began to worry. Her, worrying. That's something she never thought would happen.
"Vinyl Scratch!" Vinyl turned to see Twilight Sparkle galloping up to her. "Hey Sparkles, I don't have time to talk right now, I have to find Quency so-" Twilight held a hoof up to Vinyl's mouth. "I know, that's why I'm here, so you don't tear the town down. So... I kindaaa maybe just happened toooo... lethteprincessesknowhewashere?"
Twilight was cringing as if she was about to be hit, though when she lookedl at Vinyl's face she wasn't sure if a hit was the worst option. She was sitting there, staring at her almost blankly. Twilight noticed Vinyl wasn't actually looking at her, but rather something at her back. Twilight turned around, only to see Octavia with a rather dumbstruck Frequency standing behind her, his jaw hanging open is disbelief as Twilight gulped. Without another word he galloped off towards the shared home as both Octavia and Vinyl face-hoofed.
