Jess's POV
He did it again… he stared at me. I peeked over at him in the driver seat as he drove- he was being really quiet. "Um, can I turn on the radio?" I asked. He looked at me for a second and then nodded. I reached for the knob and found a radio station playing "Jukebox Hero" by Foreigner. Mmmm, some nice 80's rock. I couldn't help it, I started humming along, but that was nothing compares to Ryder who actually began to sing along. I couldn't help but stare at him. His voice was so beautiful- perfectly in tune, even with the high notes. His eyes were focused on the road, but his head banged as he sang. It was really cute. I can't deny that… he was really cute in that moment.
Once the song ended he calmed down and blushed slightly, looking over at me and apologizing. "What are you sorry for? That was amazing!" I smiled, playfully hitting his arm, "Gosh, the Glee kids are going to love you. You're way cooler than Schuester. No offense to him…" "Who's Schuester?" he asked looking over at me for a second. "Oh, he's the head of Glee Club. Don't get me wrong, he's cool but he is older. The kids will definitely relate more with you." He nodded to himself and pulled into the school parking lot. I pointed out my car and he stopped next to it. "Thanks again for everything. Your apology meant a lot…" I started, but he cut me off. "I promise not to be an ass anymore," he smiled slightly. "Same here," I smiled back before hopping out of his jeep. He waited until I got into my car before he drove off. Is is sad that tonight was one of the best nights I've had in a while?
Ryder's POV
I drove back to my dorm and turned up the music on the radio station she chose- it was mainly 80's rock, but I liked it. When I got there, I opened the door to see my roommate had his girlfriend over. "Hey man," I said looking at Kyle, "Hey Sherri," I added looking over to the girl on his bed. I walked over to my bed, threw my backpack down, and flopped down. I closed my eyes, hoping they'd give me space to think over what happened tonight, but soon enough, I heard Sherri's voice: "So did you see Jess today? She didn't go to class… She said she had her silly nightmares again so she was all weird this morning." I looked over at her confused, "Nightmares?" She nodded, "Ya, she has them like all the time apparently, but I swear she just uses it as an excuse to stay in bed longer and mope around instead of going to class. She never misses work though- so that's weird." "None of my business," I shrugged. I guess Sherri is one of Jess's roommates. God this is a small town. She has been trying to get information out of me ever since she heard me talking about the hiding thing. She's one of the largest gossips I've ever met- no offense to Kyle. She's nice and all, but she really should just mind her own business.
Thankfully, Kyle got the hint that I didn't want to talk and suggested that he and Sherri go see a movie. She agreed and they said goodbye before walking out. Once they did, I opened my eyes again and just stared at the ceiling. Jess is really nice. Why is she so weird though? I mean nightmares every night? Ugh- I literally just said it was none of my business. But I'm interested… and I don't know why.
