Hey there! Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been busy, plus on and off of writer's block, but it's finally SPRING BREAK! THANK THE LORD!
Here's Sis21k's request of a brotherly Les and Davey One-shot. I was trying to think of something other than what I've already written before, so I hope you all like it. I didn't edit it at all, so if you see anything that looks a little fishy, don't hesitate to review and tell me.
Thank you to all who have reviewed, and I'll try to upload something else today, if all goes well.
Disclaimer: I only own OC's. DUH.
For a few weeks before the 'big day', Davey's mother and father tried to explain that one day soon, he'd have to go over to Mrs. Chapira's apartment next door while they went to go pick up his baby brother or sister. A confusing thought for Davey, but never the less, he obliged, as his eyes drifting to his mother's swelled stomach.
Nearly ten years old, and Davey was not excited to the newest addition to their tiny family. Almost all of his friends at school already had younger brothers or sisters, and shared their horror stories of dealing with the new addition.
"He steals my cookies at lunchtime!"
"Every night, she starts screaming, and wakes me up. It's terrible!"
"The only thing he does is poop and cry! I hate him!"
Unprepared and dreading that day when the 'new addition' would come along, he begged his mother to send a letter, trying to return the child.
"Please, Momma!" He would cry, the tiny tears beginning to drip down his baby-fat filled cheeks. "I don't want to be a big brother!"
"But Davey," Mrs. Jacob's would begin, her own heart breaking in two. "I thought you said you wanted a little brother or sister!"
He shook his head adamantly. "No, Momma, I just want it to be me! Please, go return it!"
But with a heavy heart, Mrs. Jacobs apologized, saying that there were no refunds on this sort of thing, and he would one say, learn to love the next addition.
Davey doubted it.
Only two days after that conversation with his mother did he wake up to the gentle prodding of Mrs. Chapiro on her shoulder.
"Sweetie, wake up now. Your mother wants you to meet some one."
The new addition, he thought with horror. It's here.
Taken by the hand, he was dragged out of bed, and led into the dimly lit living room, where his mother sat on the rocking chair, holding a bundle of blankets with exhausted eyes. His father was watching from the doorway while he picked up some of the dirty blankets and tossed them into the washing room. Three people he had never seen before were sitting around the room, drinking a cup of coffee each.
"Hi, sweetie." She whispered, turning her head towards Davey as she clutched the baby towards her chest.
"You didn't return him." He pouted, crossing his arms as Mrs. Chapiro's bony fingers patted his back. A tiny giggle ran through the room as he was pushed forward towards his mother.
"No, I didn't." She smiled, letting her head rest on her shoulder with a smile on her face. "But I think you won't mind."
Davey wasn't so sure about that.
"I want you to meet someone, sweetie." She pulled a few covers away from the sleeping baby's face, revealing a pink body, fast asleep. "His name is Les, and he's your new baby brother."
"Oh." Davey mumbled, crossing his arms over his chest. "Hi, Les."
As if on cue, the tiny baby opened his bright brown eyes and stared up at his baby brother. A tiny smile crossed his face as he reached a pudgy hand out of the bundle of blankets.
"I think he wants you to hold him." She replied quietly, while lifting the tiny baby up to Davey's gentle arms. "Be careful, okay?"
The new big brother nodded, as his mother handed him the new baby as gentle as possible. "Um, hi, Les. I'm your big brother, Davey. I, uh, hope you're not like what the other kids at school say you are."
The most adorable laugh tinkled out of the baby's mouth, bringing a smile to each mouth in the room, even Davey's.
"He likes you." Davey's mother smiled, reaching a hand out to ruffle her eldest son's hair.
And even if he didn't want to acknowledge it, Davey liked Les too.
I'm sorry if it didn't live up to the expectations you all had in mind, I was having a tough time writing this, since I wanted it to be good, but I hope you all liked it. Thank you for reading, and don't forget to review!
QOTD: What Newsie would you want to be a sibling to you?
AOTD: I would absolutely love either Davey and Les or Jack to be my siblings, because they are all so adorable and perfect and I just want them all, so yes.
