We all walked onto the docking bay. There was an elevator straight to the right. We walked onto it in complete silence. If you walked into the elevator, it wasn't anything that looked like something you would see in the early 21st century. Instead, it looked like a half of a cylinder with a window looking straight ahead. I couldn't see anything because of all the construction in the way.
As soon as we were able to see, I wanted to jump out of the elevator and fall to the floor! This place is amazing! When the elevator reached the bottom, we walked out. Anderson took lead and said. "Everyone follow me. We are going to meet Udina in my office. We took another elevator straight ahead and went up.
Not much conversation going on. I think this is everyone's first visit to the citadel, besides Anderson of course. This elevator reached its destination and it was Beautiful! People were walking back and forth on white walkways that keep going! I didn't have time to admire the view before Anderson led us to the right.
We entered an office and straight ahead was a weird humanoid blue creature. Most of her body looked like a human except for her hair. I'm not even sure it was hair! It looked like tentacles that curved back! So far, only the entire crew of the Normandy knows that I don't know anything. We all agreed earlier to pretend that I know some of the species, not all. "Welcome again, Anderson, Where will you be going?" The blue receptionist said.
Anderson replied "My office, same as usual. I have a visitor there."
"Well then I won't keep you waiting." She said.
Anderson led us to the right. There were stairs that led up, same as the left, and we went to the right again. There was a door to the right side and Anderson opened it. Inside was a man with white clothes on, a grumpy look on his face, and a nearly bald head. "Anderson! Where have you been?"
Anderson didn't seem offended by his attitude. "We had some… complications." He pointed to me.
I heard a scowl and looked at Ashley. Shepard stepped up and said. "We found the beacon on Eden Prime."
Udina looked from Anderson to Shepard. "And what about Nhilus?"
"Dead. He was killed by a turian named Saren." Shepard countered.
"What! A rouge spectre?"
Anderson stepped up. "Yes, he found the beacon before we did but-"
"What! Saren found it before you did! This is outrageous!"
"Yes but we did find it!" Ashley yelled.
Udina pointed to Ashley. "Is it correct that you were there when Saren found the beacon but wasn't part of the Normandy crew?"
"Y-Yes, but-"
"Then there is your evidence!"
This time I stepped up. "How could you? Shepard and Kaidan saved her ass! She was being attacked by the geth! She was part of the crew to dig up the beacon!"
Udina looked at me. "Need I remind you that in Anderson's report, you were stated there as well?"
"Shit." Now that was just a bullet to the head.
Ashley countered him. "We did find the beacon! We were going to retrieve it before I activated it! It was a sensation that I never felt before, I was being pulled towards it. But then Mark jumped in and saved me!"
I think we finally got to him. He looked at me. "So you are the reason the beacon blew up!" That moment didn't last long.
"I'm fine, thanks!"
"Did it give you see something?" he asked. I nodded slowly. It was something that I don't want to remember.
"I-I don't know. It was weird. I think I saw Earth though."
"We must report this to the council. Udina said while slamming his fist in his palm. "Mark should come too. Maybe we can expose Saren with what evidence we have." With that we all walked to the council.
When we got to the citadel tower, Udina told everyone to wait. He said that he would try to get their attention to what we are trying to do. I didn't care. I hate that son of a bitch. I took a seat. I was so tired despite that I was out cold after the beacon. I saw Ashley, Shepard, and Anderson talking about something. Probably best if I don't get involved. Then I noticed Kaidan sitting alone. I got up and walked towards him.
"Hey." I said. He looked at me in disgust. "Why are you alone?
There was a moment of silence. "It's complicated." He finally said.
"How can it be that complicated?" I ask.
"Because, you wouldn't understand with being new here and all." He replied.
"Well maybe you can explain it as best you can." I offered.
"Well…" He replied. "I have a certain…implant. It is really outdated and I got it when we couldn't get rid of them. It is called the L2 implant. Everyone now has the L3. The reason no one has an L2 is because they have some side effects. They cause insanity, mental disability, and crippling pain. Apparently, I'm the lucky one. I only get migraines. Sometimes big and sometimes small. That's why I don't hang around in crowds." I stare at him in disbelief "What I don't get," he continues. "Is if you don't know a thing, then how do you have biotics and what kind of implant do you have."
Now I am shocked. He's right. I should have an implant for biotics, but, for all I know, I don't! "Captain Anderson! Shepard!" I hear Udina yell. "It's time to start." We all walk up the stairs and towards the council. "Tell them!" Udina yelled. "Tell them about Saren!" There were three people standing across a gap. One was a turian, and one was another one of those blue people, and one that I don't recognize in black robes.
"Udina, please-" the blue councilor said.
"Shepard! TELL THEM!"
Shepard stepped up. "Saren was involved in the attack."
"How can you prove that he was?" The turian councilor asked.
Shepard sighed. "I can't"
The councilor in black robes replied. "Then we can't revoke Saren of his Spectre status."
Udina replied. "Then pull him up!"
"How will that solve anything!" the turian councilor asked.
"JUST DO IT!" Udina yelled. The turian councilor pressed a couple buttons on his pad and a holographic image of Saren appeared. If you called Saren a turian, I would have called you a liar. He barely looks like one. He also has a mustache type thing going left and right across his face.
"Yes councilors?" Saren asked.
"Were you on Eden Prime when the geth invaded?" The blue councilor asked.
"The geth invaded Eden Prime?"
"Yes, it was a major catastrophe."
"And were you aware," Udina said. "That Nhilus was killed."
"Nhilus was what?" Saren said in a shocking voice.
I stepped up. "You already knew that!" I yelled. "He was killed by your hand!"
"You can't accuse me." Saren said. "You have no proof." He is right. We don't have proof unless you count the man we found behind the crates.
"He is correct, Udina. You have no proof." The blue councilor replied.
"Thank you, Saren, for your help." The turian councilor replied.
"Do you have anything else to add Shepard?" The blue councilor asked.
Shepard looked angry. "Why bother, you wouldn't listen!"
"Good." She replied. "This meeting is adjourned.
A/N: I really like this chapter even though I referred the asari councilor as 'the blue councilor' but don't worry, Mark will learn!
