Okay guys, I know that it's been awhile, I was working on my third story, The End. Sorry. And I was VERY busy. Very sorry.
Storytime.
Luke's Pov
Thalia and I trudged down to the beach where the little kids were staying. I didn't know what to do anymore. I had already kissed her, disregarding the fact that she was a Huntress and could get in serious trouble for that.
But she kissed me back, so she must like me, right? At least a little. But it's so hard to read her. Even though I have known her for all of those years… she still confuses me. Just a bit.
Right before we came upon the hill that marked the entrance to our small safe haven, Thalia stopped and took a breath. "Listen. I really do like you." My heart sped up. Yes! "But I need you to confirm something for me. Are you- did- Are you really sorry for what you did? Well, what I'm trying to say is… Can I trust you?"
I didn't hesitate. "Thalia, I think about that every day. I hate that I made mistakes… that I betrayed you. I am always thinking of ways to make it up." I took her hand, and she didn't resist. "You can trust me. I promise I won't let you down, ever again."
"I believe you." We kissed again, long and hard.
"Thank-"
"That doesn't mean I'm gonna forgive you," She scolded, and I just had to laugh. I knew her so well, that she was obviously lying, but was trying hard (and pretty convincingly) to tell the truth.
"What's so funny?"
"I know you too well, Thals."
She shook her head and looked liked she was trying hard not to smile.
"Smile! I'm not that hard to talk to, am I?"
"Luke…" She shook her head again, but she did smile.
"Thalia… what are you going to do?"
"About what?" She didn't meet my eyes, and I gave her a look that said 'You know what.'
"Honestly? I don't know. Guess I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it." She shrugged, giving me the front that she didn't care.
"You're transparent, Thals."
"What?"
"It means that I can see right through you. I know that you're conflicted. I'm sorry for burdening you with those troubles."
"When did you get all sophisticated?"
"What?" It was my turn to be confused.
"All those fancy words. I thought you had only changed one way… you're different. But, the same."
"You make no sense."
"According to you, did I ever?"
I laughed. "No, I guess not."
We stood in silence for two minutes. I counted the seconds before she spoke. 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 12-
"Just say something!" she begged. "Explain. Why did you turn?" When I was silent for ten seconds.
More silence. I knew that she couldn't stand silence, but she wallowed in the quiet, waiting for me to answer an impossible question.
"I do love you, Thals. Don't you ever doubt that."
She looked up, tears forming in her intense blue eyes.
"Hey!" A voice hollered from the top of the sand dune we would have to climb to get into our camp. "We're hun-gry!"
"Be there in a second!" I yelled back.
Thalia and I started the ascent towards Jason. I didn't know if we were ever going to have this talk again, so I hid it safely, tucking it away into the back of my mind, where the happy memories lay.
Jason's Pov
I had just peeked over the hill to see what was keeping Luke and Thalia so long (When you're hungry, you're hungry, okay?), when I witnessed something illegal.
Luke kissed Thalia.
He kissed my sister! And the worst part, she kissed him back! She is part of a No-Boys-Club or whatever thing. And she had picked Luke over me. Luke!
Luke had hurt her. He betrayed her, poisoned her, and tried to kill her. So why does she like him? What does she see in him? I honestly just don't get it.
But the truth? I'm happy for her. Finally, she's happy. She has gone through too much to not get a little something for her efforts. Thalia has been ripped apart, emotionally and physically. She freaking died! Well, she got close to it, anyways. Too close.
So that's why I didn't break them apart for awhile. But I still saw it. And that can only mean a few things for Thalia. Either she gets booted out of her Hunt, or she gets to be with Luke. And what if Luke crushed her? Basically, I'm going to have to keep an eye on them.
Thalia's Pov
We met Jason on the top of the sand hill. He was covered in the dust, almost like he had been rolling around in it. When I mentioned it, he gave me a strange look.
"Not all of us can stay clean, ya know." He shrugged.
Leo came running up, panting. "FOOOOOOD!" he shouted, and pounced.
"Hey!" Luke protested as Leo ransacked the pile we had carried.
I laughed at the scene. As Luke struggled with Leo, Jason pulled me aside. "Can we talk?"
"Sure." I left my food by Luke, and we walked a bit further away, just out of their earshot.
"Listen, and please don't get mad at me." He started, and I knew it was gonna be something bad he did.
"What did you do?"
"I kind of saw you and Luke…"
"Jason!"
"Sorry! I just… want to say that Ihopeyou'rehappywithhimbecauseIdon'twantyoutocrashandburn." He said the last part very quickly as he withered underneath my gaze. He studied his shoes, and then looked up at me with his sky blue eyes.
"Okay," I sighed. "Just don't get overprotective like you normally do-"
"I'm never overprotecti-"
"-because I'm older than you, for one, and for two, it's my life. My choices. I don't need a younger sibling looking over my shoulder all the time."
"I don't look…" Jason trailed off after, realizing what I would say if he finished that sentence. "Okay, but most of the time I am older than you."
"I don't look over you!"
He opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again, but the words never came out. I smirked at him, and he glared.
"Whatever." He finished smartly.
I rolled my eyes and trudged back down the sand dune to get the others. Little kids need to be fed very often. Otherwise, they'll be even more cranky, and trust me, I didn't want that.
Okay, loooong time. Happy Single Awareness Day. Be good. I'll update soon, I promise.
Until next time!
