Chapter 6: Father's Inquiry And The Result

The next few days went off without any problems. Okay, so there were some snide comments from the girls, leers from the guys, and lectures from the teachers about her clothes. She still refused to look like a yellow creampuff. But Takashi and Mitsukuni we're with her through it all.

On Saturday night, her father called for her. What could he want? Was it just to try to buy her affection? She had homework she would rather be doing than watch such a pitiful display. It wasn't that she really hated him- she didn't know him well enough to actually despise him. But each attempt of giving her stuff to make up for not being around kinda chipped away at any amount of respect she might have had for the man who was supposed to be her dad. With a sigh, she got up and went to see what he wanted.

Hideyoshi looked up when his daughter entered his study. His eyes quickly went back to his paperwork, blushing a bit. Why did she have to wear such revealing clothing? Yes, she was raised in America but she was in Japan now... He would have to remember to get her some kimonos. No daughter of his should dress so provocatively, even in the comfort of her own home.

"How's school? I...heard something from Chairman Suoh. I guess some of the other parents heard about a...strip show the other day?"

Kira glared at the corner of the desk. Her plump lips were thinned in a tight scowl. Of course those little bitches would squeal after stealing her clothes. But she wouldn't play that game. She could handle her own shit without telling "Daddy".

Hideyoshi sighed. "I'm sure that you have plenty of admirers but what about friends?"

"Yes, I have friends. I'm not exactly like mom, you know." Kira's response had bite and sarcasm.

"Female friends?"

This stopped her from making another scathing remark, her mind racing. If she said no, what would he think? She wasn't like her mother but with no girl friends, was she closer to that image without meaning to be? But then inspiration strick. With a smile, she nodded. "I have one friend who's a girl."

Her father grinned and asked her to invite her friends to supper on Sunday. Of course, she agreed but how to pull it off...

Takashi had just gotten out of the bath when he heard his cellphone ring. It wasn't any of the Host Club since the ring tone was a standard, 'nothing special' sound of ringing of bells. Picking it up, he saw that it was Kira. He'd given her his number in case she ever needed help. With her looks, trouble was bound to follow her. Oh right...he might want to answer her. Clicking on the answer button, he grunted, "Moshi Moshi, Kira."

"Hey, how are you...? Great weather..."

He chuckled softly. She acted like Mitsukuni when he wanted something that would probably get a no. Distract with mundane topics and go in for the kill. "I am well...and yourself?"

She gave a little laugh. "Good... My dad wanted me to talk to my friends and see if maybe...you and Mitsukuni wanted to come to supper on Sunday?"

Takashi blinked. That was it? No, it had to be something else. "I think I can make it. I can ask Mitsukuni for you."

"Great! I mean, it's short notice so I'm glad you can make it. Um, do you have Haruhi's phone number?"

He tilted his head, confused. Haruhi? But why...? He hadn't realized he asked that out loud but he was listening to Kira's reasons for wanting the brunette 'boy' there. He did acknowledge that Haruhi was rather calling to be around. And since she was formerly a commoner, he could see how Haruhi's presence would help Kira be more comfortable. With that thought, he gave her the phone number.

A quick goodbye later had the Kendo champion wondering what his friend was up to. But he brushed it off. He would simply get the information out of her on Sunday. He had ways of making people talk. Yes, staring at them and waiting for them to crack was the technique he intended to use.

Sunday night, Morinozuka and Haninozuka found themselves outside of their friend's mansion. Kira had texted Mori the info she'd neglected to tell him due to her nervousness and told him that she would pick up Haruhi. The two boys pressed the intercom to be let in through the front door by a butler who seemed much too young to be in that position m but he did his job well and had quite the sense of humor.

Once they had been lead to Kira's room, the cousins found quite the sight-Haruhi studying on a fluffy soft rug with Kira. The pretty girl was laying on her stomach, wearing jeans short shorts and a cute red tank top. Haruhi was with her legs tucked to her left side, a pink dress and dark blue leggings.

Kira looked up and smiled. "Um... I can explain..."

Mitsukuni bounced in, smiling cutely. "Just promise not to say anything, 'kay? Kyo-chan can get a little scary~"

She rolled her eyes. As if she was going to ruin her only female friendship ever. "It's not like I knew by magic. My father wanted me to have a friend who was a girl. And ask cute as you are, Mitsukuni, Haruhi is more...girly?"

"You said calming on Friday," Mori commented with a small smirk.

She huffed with a grin of her own. "Both are true. The plan was to convince Haruhi to wear cute clothes so Father would get off my back

Ranka was home and the next thing I know, he's crying tears of joy that his little girl had a friend who wasn't that 'horrible Tamaki Suoh'... But I won't tell a soul. Father will probably want another dinner with my friends...if I haven't ticked you off..." She looked at Haruhi, hoping that she wasn't too upset.

"Well... Why not? But only if we're having Fancy Tuna next time~"

Kira was sure the last comment was made in jest but she would still make that request a reality. It was the least she could do.
