Whoaaaa that was a long gap for lack of updates, I'm sorry; life kind of smacked me in the face for a while there xD
I do have plans to end this fanfiction along with the series, but I have a ton of things planned and in store for this ragtag group of characters.
Especially Sam and Dana. Oh yes; plenty in store for Dana.
And some for Marley.
So, stay tuned, you guys! The fun is just starting!

Okay so...I'm going to skip over 4x04, "The Break-Up" because, frankly, I have no idea how to write that into the story.
So this chapter will take place during 4x05, "The Role You Were Born To Play", which takes place about two weeks after the previous chapter.

Songs in this chapter are:
Lovebug - Jonas Brothers
Happy Endings Are Stories that Haven't Ended Yet - Mayday Parade
Toxic - Melanie Martinez Cover
Because You Live - Jesse McCartney

Disclaimer: I do not own Glee.

06: Grease Auditions

Dana walked down the hallway, bubbling with excitement. She walked over to her locker, which was a couple of lockers away from Sam's, and when she saw him, she pecked his cheek. "Hey there." Sam said, a smile on his face. "You look happy." he added, looking at his girlfriend. Dana smiled. "We're doing Grease as the school musical! I'm excited! Grease is one of my favorite musicals!" she said, happily bouncing around.

Sam laughed and hugged Dana. "So...are you going to audition?" he asked. Dana frowned and shook her head. "Probably not. I mean, there aren't really any parts in the play for red-heads. Besides; I'd be just as happy helping Tina with costumes, and maybe even helping with makeup." Dana said with a smile. Sam sighed. "Okay. I was looking forward to being on stage with you..."

Dana raised an eyebrow. "Sam, we're in a show choir that competes on stage." she said. Sam slightly pouted. "I know, but still. It's different than being in a play." he said, moving some hair out of Dana's face. Dana smiled. "Yeah, but I'm fine with not being in the musical. If you want, I'll audition with you. If I get a part, I'll go with it. If not, I'll just help Tina with the costumes." she said. Sam smiled and pecked Dana's cheek. "Deal." he said. Dana took his hand in hers. "Come on. We can talk about what songs to sing when we're eating."

Dana laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She was thinking to herself, unsure of many things.

"What am I going to do when we graduate...?"

She closed her eyes, letting out a long sigh.
"I still have months to decide, but I should decide soon..."

Dana bit her lip and opened her eyes. She looked to see Sam messing with his guitar. Dana sat up; sitting cross-legged. "What are you doing?" she asked. Sam looked at Dana and smiled. "Just tuning my guitar. I was going to practice for a bit, since it's been a little while. When I played the song for you last week, I realized that I was a little bit rusty."

Dana stood up and walked over to Sam's bed, sitting beside him. She smiled. "So what, are you going to serenade me again?" she asked, resting her chin on his shoulder. Sam chuckled and kissed Dana's nose. "Maybe. Do you think that we can practice a song for our Grease audition?" he asked. "What song?" Dana asked, moving her legs so that she was sitting cross legged. Sam smiled and started to strum on his guitar. "Lovebug?" he asked. Dana let out a laugh and Sam swayed back and forth, smiling at Dana before she started singing.

"Called you for the first time yesterday
Finally found the missing part of me
Felt so close but you were far away
Left me without anything to say

Now I'm speechless
Over the edge, I'm just breathless
I never thought that I'd catch this love bug again
Hopeless, head over heels in the moment
I never thought that I'd get hit by this love bug again..."

Dana smiled and Sam started on the next part, lightly closing his eyes.

"I can't get your smile out of my mind
I think about your eyes all the time
You're beautiful but you don't even try
Modesty is just so hard to find

Now I'm speechless
Over the edge, I'm just breathless
I never thought that I'd catch this love bug again
Hopeless, head over heels in the moment
I never thought that I'd get hit by this love bug again..."

Sam opened his eyes and looked at Dana, singing to her.

"I kissed her for the first time yesterday

Everything I wished that it would be..."

Dana sang back to Sam.

"Suddenly I forgot how to speak
Hopeless, breathless..."

They looked at each other and sang the next phrase together.

"Baby can't you see?"

Sam stopped playing his guitar and set it to the side. In one swift motion, he took Dana's face in his hands and kissed her. Dana wrapped her arms around Sam's neck and he moved his hands and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer. He kissed her again and Dana tangled her hands in his hair. She kissed him back and when she pulled away for air, Sam smiled and rested his forehead against hers. He kissed her nose and Dana smiled. "I love you." Sam said softly. Dana kissed Sam back. "I love you too."

Sam smiled and kissed Dana again. Sam leaned over her, gently pushing her onto the bed and kissing her again. He looked at her. "Dana..." he started. "What?" she asked. "Are you...I mean..."

Dana silenced Sam by putting a finger over his lips. "I'm fine with making out Sam. I'll stop you if I get uncomfortable, alright?" she asked, a soft smile on her face. Sam smiled and laid down beside Dana. He pulled her close and held her in his arms. "I'm fine with stopping here." he said quietly. Dana cuddled into Sam's chest. "You know what Sam?" she asked. "What?" Sam replied. "I'm glad that you guys stopped me from killing myself." Dana whispered. Sam kissed Dana's head. "I am too."

That night, Dana was twisting and turning in her sleep. She was curled into a ball and her forehead was sticky with sweat. She was panting and mumbling in her sleep. Sam sat up quickly, waking up from his sleep, and he looked over at her to see tears streaming down her face and he stumbled as he jumped out of bed. He looked at Dana and for a second, he didn't know what to do. She started whimpering and Sam sat on the edge of her bed. "Dana...Dana, please wake up." he whispered, gently touching her shoulder.

Dana jolted, her body going completely still. She curled tighter into a ball and started sobbing into the pillow she had in her arms. Sam pursed his lips, the worry clear on his face as his girlfriend continued to have her nightmare in front of him. Sam suddenly remembered one time years ago when Stacy had a nightmare.

Sam gently placed his hand on Dana's back and her sobbing stopped; turning into labored breathing. He scooted over so that he was on her bed more, and pulled Dana onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her. "Shh...shh...It's alright Dana, I'm here for you." he said softly. He opened his mouth and started singing a song; one that he heard the other day and made him think about her.

"Keep me dizzy, spinning circles around my head
Believe me that it's worth the rush,
Til we collide, with heavy hearts and open minds
I'm all by myself, don't leave me hanging
Shakin' like I've caught on fire
We all get stuck in funny ways sometimes
You and every friend of mine

We'll find a way, to run away, tonight..."

Dana twitched, and she stopped crying. She started shaking and Sam continued singing softly to her.

"You could be my compass,
Teach me how to read these broken lines;
Hold me like a lover,
We'll find a way, to run away, tonight..."

Sam heard Dana whispering and he smiled when he heard that she was singing along.

"Tell me when it's over,
Promise that you'll always keep me in mind
Burning like a soldier,
I'll find my way to you and save the day..."

Dana's arms quickly wrapped around Sam and she buried her face in his chest. She lightly cried and Sam held her closer than before. "Dana..." he started, his voice quiet. Dana sniffled and looked at Sam. Sam reached over and wiped the tears from her face. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked. Dana rested her forehead on Sam's shoulder and she took several deep breaths before shaking her head. Sam let out a sigh. "Alright. Do you want me to lay with you?" he asked. Dana nodded, her hold on Sam getting tighter for a split second.

Sam let go of Dana for a moment, and he laid down. Dana laid down and quickly wrapped her arms around Sam. Sam pulled her close and she sniffled as she cuddled closer to Sam. "Thank you Sam." she whispered. Sam kissed Dana's head. "It's no problem."

Sam sighed. "Dana, you're really going to pull out of the auditon?" he asked. Dana nodded. "S-Sorry Sam...I can't help but to feel...but to feel paranoid on stage. My stage fright...is coming back." she said quietly. Sam hugged Dana. "Okay, that's fine. Are you going to help backstage?" Sam asked and Dana nodded. "I talked to Tina and Finn about it. I'm going to help Tina with the costumes and help with the makeup." she replied. Sam sighed, smiling softly. "Alright then, I'll respect your desicion." he said, kissing her head and Dana sighed, content with being held in Sam's arms.

Tina mumbled to herself as she walked down the hallway. She ran a hand through her bangs and sighed. She mulled the thought of auditioning for the musical over, and she felt her eyebrow twitch as she thought about working with Mike. She was still getting over him breaking up with her; especially for a trivial reason like 'she wasn't asian enough'.

As Tina walked by the choir room, she heard faint music coming from the room. She walked toward the door and peeked into the room; to see Skylar, the guitarist for the McKinley Jazz band, and who is constantly helping the Glee club by helping play the music for their songs. He has dirty blond hair, and from what Tina's seen, hazel colored eyes.

Tina looked into the room to see that he was playing his guitar and singing a song. She opened the door and quietly closed it behind her. She heard him singing and smiled at the song; 'Gravity' by Sara Bareilles. She liked his voice, and she walked closer, standing by the piano as he sang. When finished the song, Tina clapped and grinned at him when he looked at her. "Why didn't you ever tell us you could sing?" she asked. Skylar shrugged. "You guys never asked. Besides; I was happy just playing the music, you know?"

"Well...have you ever thought about joining the Glee Club?" Tina asked. "Maybe once or twice, but I've been happy in the bad. I guess if you guys really need someone, I can see about being a backup member." Skylar said. "Have you thought about auditioning for the musical?" Tina asked. "Maybe. I'm going to be playing the music with the rest of the band." Skylar said. "Yeah, but have you thought about singing on the stage with the rest of us? You should try auditioning Skylar. You're really good." Tina said, smiling. "If you want, we can audition together." she added. A smile appeared on Skylar's face. "Really?" he asked. "Yeah! It'd be fun!" Tina said with a smile. "I guess I can give it a try. I might even have a song in mind." Skylar said, running a hand through his hair and smiling.

Tina sat on the stage as Skylar strummed his guitar, and she smiled as she started singing.

"Baby can't you see, that I'm calling?
A guy like you, should wear a warning,
It's dangerous, that I'm fallin'.
There's no escape, I can't wait
You're dangerous, and I'm lovin' it..."

Tina and Skylar smiled at each other as she started on the chorus, belting at the top of her lungs.

"To high, can't come down,
Losin my head, spinning round and round;
Can you feel me now?
Taste of your lips I'm, on a ride
You're toxic, I'm, slippin under
With a, taste of your poison, paradise
I'm addicted,
Don't cha, know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do, don't cha, know that you're toxic?"

Skylar started on the next part and swayed as he played the guitar.

"It's getting late, to give you up
I took a sip, from my devil's cup
Slowly, it's taking over me

To high, can't come down
Losin my head, spinning round and round
Can you feel me now?
Taste of your lips I'm, on a ride
You're toxic, I'm, slippin under
With a, taste of your poison, paradise
I'm addicted,
Don't cha, know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do, don't cha, know that you're toxic?"

As they sang together, they stood and started walking around the stage, smiling. Tina grinned at Skylar as they finished the song, now standing in the middle of the stage. They were met by applause; Finn, Artie, Mercedes and Mike were cheering for them and Tina spotted Dana and Sam giving her a thumbs up in the left wing of the stage. "That was awesome, Tina! Skylar, I didn't know that you could sing!" Finn said happily. Skylar shrugged, a smile on his face. "The topic never came up dude." he said. "Do you guys have any parts in mind to play?" Artie asked.

Tina and Skylar exchanged looks. "Well, I'm fine with playing Jan." she stated. Skylar shrugged. "Whoever you guys think I should play. Sonny's fine with me." he said. "Got it. Thanks again guys." Finn said, watching as Artis wrote on his notepad and he looked back towards the stage as Tina and Skylar walked off. "Sam? You're up next."

Tina and Dana hugged, Dana grinning. "You guys were awesome!" she said happily. "Yeah, you two rocked it." Sam stated, smiling. "Well, break a leg." Skylar said, clapping a hand on Sam's shoulder. Sam smiled and nodded as he kissed Dana on the cheek before he went out onto the stage. He sat on one of the stools still on the stage and he smiled. "My name is Sam Evans, and I'm auditioning for the part of Kenickie." he said, and the music started. Sam smiled towards Dana and then started singing.

"Staring out at the rain with a heavy heart
It's the end of the world in my mind
Then your voice pulls me back like a wake up call
I've been looking for the answer
Somewhere
I couldn't see that it was right there
But now I know what I didn't know

Because you live and breathe
Because you make me believe in myself when nobody else can help
Because you live, girl
My world has twice as many stars in the sky..."

Dana smiled as Sam looked at her again and she waved, watching as he grinned before continuing to sing. Tina nudged her with her elbow and Dana smiled at her and Skylar. Skylar smiled, shaking his head. Dana looked back at Sam and listened to him sing.

When he finished, the judges applauded. "Is there a particular part you want?" Finn asked. "Kenickie." Sam quickly said. "Any other roles?" Artie asked. "No, Kenickie is the role that I was born to play, and the only role that I want to play." Sam stated, a determined gleam in his eyes. Alright, thank you Sam." Artie said.

Sam walked off of the stage and Dana hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck as he hugged her back, his arms around her waist. "Thank you Sam." she whispered. "I love you, Dana." Sam replied softly. Dana smiled, the words flowing out of her words faster and easier than she thought they would. "I love you too, Sam."
