Chapter 6: The Call to Mia

The morning after Takanori came to stay with the five, Cye and Rowen went to help her pack a few items from her home.

A couple days later, the Ronin's decided to inform Mia about what was going on.

Ryo was the one who made the call. And since they were on different time frames, he called her around 10:00 pm, his time.

He thought he was only going to be leaving a message, and was surprised that she, instead, picked up.

"Oh. Hey, Mia. It's Ryo. I thought I was only going to be leaving you a message."

"Is everything alright? You usually don't call unless something's wrong," Mia told him with a bit of worry in her voice.

"Sorry we only call you if it's only bad news…except when it's your Birthday. And everything's fine right not. But there's a new demon in town."

"Do you need me to fly in?"

"No, that won't be necessary. We can handle it."

"So, tell me what's happened."

He told her everything leading up to now.

"Now, are you sure you don't want me to be there?"

"There's no reason to cancel your classes. I promise we'll call you if we need you, Mia."

"Well, alright. Thanks for letting me know what's going on."

"We'll keep you posted. Bye, Mia."

Hanging up the phone, Mia wondered to herself. I hope that wasn't their last goodbye. I'm always going to worry about those five.' Then she realized, "Geez! I am a Mother Hen to them!"

"What," a voice asked beside her?

"Huh? Oh, sorry. It's nothing. Just something going on back home in Japan."

"Do you need time off," the man asked?

"No. That's alright, Mr. Stenson. They'll call me if they need me."

'Why would a demon only attack one person? That just doesn't make any sense. What's so special about that young woman? I hope the Ronin Warriors will be able to figure it out and help her.'

"Let me guess. Mia asked if she should come here."

Ryo looked behind him from where he sat in the dining room and looked at Sage. He chuckled a little while saying, "Pretty much."

"She's definitely a Mother Hen toward us." Sage had humor in his voice.

"Since she first met us years ago."

"Agreed."

The two laugh at how their good friend Mia was with the five of them.

Takanori walked into the dining room then, and asked, "Is she alright with having another guest stay at her house?"

"Of course," Ryo answered. "She understands the situation."

She walked closer up to Ryo and kissed him on the cheek. "I just want to thank you again, Ryo."

Ryo was flushed from the kiss Takanori just gave him, and Sage had a surprised look on his face.

"You're, you're welcome," he still was blushing.

She noticed his reaction and thought that she had embarrassed him. "I didn't mean to embarrass you."

"You didn't. It was just unexpected." He gave a little smile.

She gave the same smile back then said, "I guess I'm going to head on up to bed."

"Night. I won't be too far behind. I'll be going to bed shortly as well."

When she was gone, Sage turned back to Ryo and said, "That reminded me on how you were to her back at the hospital."

Ryo looked at him with sudden realization. "Do you think we could have a thing for each other?" He didn't know how he was feeling. He never really dated anyone before.

"How have you not noticed how you've been around her, how she's been around you?"

Ryo looked away. He had no idea on how to answer that.
