LOVE IS MANY SPLINTERED THING

Arandi let out a yelp of surprise when Dean stepped away from her just enough to where they weren't touching. Then he let out a groan of pain as he was slammed with the electric current from the Taser gun.

This was her chance to play possum and then use the element of surprise on these bastards.

Dean stiffened up feeling the pain coursing through him as his joints and muscles locked up but he refused to fall. He took it and smiled a maniacal smile at Dax who stood shocked because Dean didn't go down.

Not many people knew that Dean had a thing for pain especially when just minutes before he had been about to have a good time with his lady.

Arandi? Fuck. He yanked the wires free and gasped when he saw her crumple to the floor.

Every part of him was set on furious fire. Arandi had nothing to do with this ridiculous vendetta. He moved fast, he had to stay ahead of the game even though he was still a bit stiff and tingly.

He went up in the air doing a perfect round house taking down the man next to Dax.

Another came at Dean and he flipped him perfectly onto the coffee table and it broke into pieces. Dean knocked the man out with one clean punch to the face.

He spun around in time to block Dax's attack from behind and got him into a choke hold but his other partners rushed at him and he threw Dax aside and ran towards the wall running up and flipping over them. As they stood in shock Dean crashed their heads together and they fell to the floor out cold.

Dean turned to face Dax cracking his neck eerily. "You shouldn't have fucked with me when I was with my girl." He said in low deadly voice.

Dax was backing up then stopped. Dean heard the person behind him and spun to face them but Arandi was up and she broke a lamp across their head.

All Arandi had wanted to do was help Dean but she saw too late that all she was going to be was a distraction. He was going to be too worried about protecting her and not himself and Dax took advantage of that going at her.

Dean focused on her and was not aware of yet one more guy bringing a gun down on his head. He didn't go down though he was too full of adrenaline and worry for Arandi's safety. He turned and grabbed the guy's arm yanking it hard and a loud snap filled the room along with the man's cries of pain.

Dax thought he had the upper hand as he reached Arandi who played the part of a terrified girl perfectly.

She brought her palm up breaking his nose and then reeled around taking him up off his feet.

Dean pulled her back as Dax crawled to the door. "This isn't over yet, Dax, you wanted to play let's play."

Dean kicked him hard to make him flip onto his back. He felt light headed and felt the hot blood running down the side of his face but he had to protect Arandi. It was his fault this was happening to her and he was probably going to lose her for sure now.

He heard her gasp and he turned to see her being held from behind by one of the men he had head butted together. He had a knife at her throat.

"Get away from him or I'm slicing her sweet neck." The man roared.

Dean closed his eyes and evened his breathing. He opened them again looking directly into her eyes. He heard Dax laugh, he wondered how in the hell she was so calm and then the man blatantly touched Arandi's breast. He saw her cringe and he would never be able to explain what came over him.

Arandi stared at Dean trying to show him that she wasn't afraid. Hell if she could risk ousting herself the man holding her would already be dead but she watched Dean's entire features change before her and she was in awe.

The sweet amazing person that he could be was gone and he looked absolutely deadly even as blood ran down the side of his face. No one should look that hot covered in blood. He closed his eyes for a moment and she saw him sway, when he opened his eyes again he looked directly into hers and she could almost read his mind.

She cringed when the asshole touched her breast pushing his luck with Dean and making her realize that another's man touch even though it was in a fucked up situation just felt worse than violated.

If Dean didn't kill him she would.

His voice was completely unrecognizable as he widened his stance slowly and looked back at Dax who was now standing close to the door. Even he sensed the change and Dean wasn't that easily intimidated.

"I hope you said all your goodbyes." Dean said slowly. "If you hurt her I'm sending you straight to hell."

The man tightened his grip on Arandi hiding behind her and the knife cut her slightly.

The second Dean saw the blood Arandi knew death had just waltzed through the door. She would probably never figure out exactly how it happened when she heard a soft click and where Dean's hand had been empty he now held a gun.

She dove out of the way feeling the knife slice deeper just as Dean pulled the trigger and the light sounds that could barely be heard of the silencer. As Arandi rolled she saw Dax eyes widen watching his man die right before him. Dead before he hit the ground.

Dean spun and shot at Dax but he was gone running for dear life.

Dean looked around and blinked hard trying to focus. It wasn't the first time that he had killed but it was the first time he had killed to protect a woman.

Arandi stared at Dean wide eyed. He had just killed for her and the little resistance she had had for this man crumbled to dust. He stumbled toward her and pulled her to her feet.

He lifted her head gently to look at her bleeding neck satisfied that she wasn't going to bleed to death he kissed her gently.

"I'm sorry I put you in this danger." He whispered.

She caressed his face. "You saved me."

Dean blinked hard fighting the swimming vision and the need to close his eyes because he knew he wouldn't wake up for a while, hell maybe never. Even his head couldn't hold out to that many severe blows in a couple of weeks.

The crunch of glass made Dean spin but Arandi moved faster this time throwing the knife she grabbed from the floor in one swoop. It sank into another man's stomach and he crumpled to the floor.

Dean looked at her in surprise.

"I told you I watched a lot of Xena." She shrugged.

"Battle on." He mumbled. He pulled her close. "I need you to go and grab only the things that you absolutely need. Don't worry about clothes and stuff like that I will replace everything. I have to get you out of here."

Arandi rushed to her bedroom and grabbed her purse and her laptop shoving it in a messenger bag. She couldn't help but get the jeans and heels that she had been wearing the first night with Dean and a couple of other things stuffed into a backpack.

Everything that was truly important was well hidden in places no one but she would ever find throughout the world.

She heard the light puff of Dean's gun as he cleaned up.

He had waited for Arandi to leave the room to finish the men off there was no way that any of them were going to be allowed to live and risk putting Arandi in danger again.

He cleaned off the gun and pressed the hand of the guy Arandi had gotten with the knife around it making it look as if they had all killed each other. He made sure Arandi's prints were off the knife setting the prints of the first man he shot on it and replacing it.

He looked up to see Arandi watching him. He felt dread fill him. Just because he had killed to keep her safe didn't mean she would want to be around a killer.

He would worry about that later right now he had to get her out of here before someone called the police. He knew that it wouldn't be for a while because in this neighborhood cops were not welcome.

"Don't worry about your car I'll get you another one later." He said as if all that had happened was perfectly normal.

Arandi nodded and went to him when he held his hand out to her. They rushed out the door and headed to his cycle and zoomed away into the night.

They didn't make it very far before Dean felt nauseous and he knew that he wasn't going to be able to keep going. He had to pull over before he got them both killed.

He turned into a parking garage of medical building which was completely empty at that time of night a little too fast and the cycle slid sideways and they tumbled to the ground.

Dean was barely staying conscious but he pulled himself to his feet to get to Arandi who was a little dazed.

He pulled her to her feet leaving his cycle where it was and led them deeper into the garage until his knees finally gave out.

"Dean, you're hurt bad I need to get you help." Arandi said in concern.

He got up against a wall and pulled her close. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine but you're not." She said cupping his face. His eyes were completely unfocused and glassy. "I need to find you help."

He blinked hard but knew he couldn't fight it anymore. Sirens sounded close by and he looked at her. "I need Sammy." He whispered as he pushed his phone into her hands. "Get me my Sammy." He moaned softly and he fell lax against her.

"Dean!" She called out in a panic. He couldn't die he couldn't because….. "Fuck." She never did panic or feel all the turmoil that she felt right at this moment. This was all new to her and she was wasn't sure she like it at all. She tapped his face lightly as she lifted it carefully but his head only lolled back and forth. "Dean, please wake up." She whispered desperately. "I fucking need you." She hissed angrily and when she felt the tear slip down her face she knew she was lost.

Sam moaned and thrust harder where he had Baleen bent over the desk of the club office. Dean might not need the blonde but Sam needed to get laid and she was there.

She wasn't complaining the way she was moaning as he fucked her straight onto her toes making sure that she was going to feel it for days. She cried out as he sent her over and seconds later he joined her.

It wasn't the first time his brother and him had shared a piece of ass.

He stepped back getting rid of the condom as Baleen pulled herself together.

She sauntered up to him and kissed him. "Thank you big boy. I needed that." She purred.

"My pleasure." Sam grinned all dimples and watched her walk out. Damn he loved uncomplicated fucks.

His phone began to sound off with Dean's ringtone and he quickly answered. "What's up bro?"

"Sam?"

He heard Arandi's voice low and scared. He instantly moved towards the door grabbing his jacket making sure his gun was where it needed to be as he moved.

"Where's Dean?" He nearly shouted.

"That man from the club broke into my apartment with other men. Dean killed most of them but he's hurt, I can't wake him up." Arandi sniffled.

Sam's heart skipped a couple of beats. He was very glad for his long legs at the moment. "Did he kill Dax?"

"No, he was the only one that got away but I broke his nose."

"Good but I'm going to break the rest of him." Sam growled. The others were having a good time but the moment they saw the look on Sam's face they were on the move leaving behind angry women and some men as they followed Sam out the door knowing that if he looked that upset it had everything to do with his brother.

Arandi waited restlessly for the rescue squad. Dean hadn't moved a muscle since he had lapsed into unconsciousness and she hated herself for being the one that had hurt him in the first place to make this so much more serious.

"Dean?" She whispered into his hair where his head now lay against her chest.

Seconds later three SUV's sped into the garage and all the men she had met at the club were suddenly surrounding them.

Sam and Zane both kneeled by Dean and gently pulled him up to check on him.

Zane with his paramedic training checked him over and Arandi could tell that he cared about Dean very much. He was having trouble keeping his hands from trembling.

Xander kneeled behind both men placing a hand on each shoulder. "He's going to be fine."

They both nodded.

"He has to be." Xander added.

Bobby paced like a caged tiger pissed to all hell and Matt and Michael were calling other's to handle the situation at Arandi's apartment. Tom was on the phone with Ellen telling her everything that was going on so that she could be ready for when they brought Dean in to her.

Arandi watched every expression and she had never seen so much concern within a group of men like this. Her chest suddenly felt tight.

Dean's body suddenly jerked hard and Zane crawled behind Dean fast pulling him close. "He's going to fucking seize!" He yelled and instantly Dean's body stiffened up and he went into a full blown seizure.

Zane held his head trying to keep him breathing right and Dean started to make choking sounds. In a panic and knowing better from his training he stuck his hand into Dean's mouth. He didn't care how much it hurt as long as Dean didn't swallow his tongue.

Sam and Xander did their best to keep Dean from hurting himself further as he arched off the floor nearly in half. They watched as blood ran down Zane's arm from where Dean's teeth were tearing him open.

Zane didn't flinch just held steady whispering to Dean. "You have to fight this man you have to we need you. You're girl needs you. Fuck Dean, you're not going to die you fucking hear me!"

Sam was sure that none of them would ever pick on Zane again about how he felt about Dean.

Arandi had somehow latched onto Dean's hand.

"He's fucking seizing, Ellen." Tom was near tears on the phone. Her yelling could be heard over the phone. She loved Dean just as much as they all did.

Dean let out a strangled gasp and went completely still.

"Dean?" Sam, Xander, and Zane said together.

Zane searched for a pulse and his eyes grew wide. "He's not breathing! He's fucking not breathing!"

He went into automatic and Xander moved in beside him to start CPR.

Arandi's chest tightened more. This couldn't be happening she didn't want to lose Dean. In just days he had nearly completely warmed her cold blooded heart.

Sam stared in shock. This couldn't be the way his brother died.

Arandi tried to breathe and suddenly just couldn't. She felt big hands on her shoulder and she looked up to see Michael looking at her worriedly.

She tried to say something to him as she heard Zane screaming for Dean to breathe and her world faded to black.

Arandi's head felt heavy as she turned in her sleep to get comfortable. She wished that Dean would hurry up and just pull her close.

She sat up straight groaning as pain shot through her body as she remembered everything.

"Whoa, take it easy." A female voice said.

"Dean? Where's Dean?"

"He's back at the estate in good hands." The woman said getting closer to Arandi with a glass of water.

Arandi stared at her recognizing her from the many files she had gone over in getting ready for this job. Victoria Novak stood before her. This was making her job way too fucking easy. With Novak's wife in her hands she would have Novak at her disposal within hours. She could easily make it look as they had both been taken.

Dean's smiling face filled her mind and she sighed. She knew that her life as an assassin was over and James Novak would not die by her hand. Which meant that her life was just over period because Yatu didn't do well with betrayal even though she had done everything he had asked for nearly fifteen years.

"He stopped breathing." Arandi whispered.

"Yeah and thank God that Sam and Zane can't live without him because they didn't let him go." Victoria said sitting by her.

"How do you know Dean?" Arandi asked, doing her best to act innocent.

"I'm James wife and I used to be a nurse so I offered to come here and make sure that you were ok. Sam knew that you would be Dean's first thought when he wakes up."

"He hasn't woken up yet?"

"No and it's been four hours since they picked you both up."

"Where am I?"

"You, my dear, are at the Towers a very secure swanky apartment building for the girlfriends or boyfriends of my husband's security team. The few that are married get houses in the Dominion gated community. This is where Dean would want you so that you're safe. Now how about you go freshen up and I'll make sure that you are ok. Sam will be coming to talk to you in a couple of hours because the police are looking for you. He'll go over with you what needs to be said."

Arandi nodded as she got up slowly to head to shower.

"You're not going to leave him are you?"

Arandi stopped and sighed. "He saved my life when he didn't even know who he was saving. He killed for me."

"We all have skeletons in our closets." Vicky tried to assure her.

Arandi turned her piercing blue eyes on her. "Yeah, well mine is an extended walk in and I'm running out of space."

"Shower, sweetheart, then we'll talk." Vicky sighed and relaxed to wait.

Arandi sat on the bed listening as Sam told her what to say to the police. He told her to go to the police station and give her statement saying that these men had broken into her apartment thinking that the hooker that once lived there was still there.

They had started to fight over her even though she wasn't a hooker and she had made a run for it and didn't see anything that happened. She knew the police would believe her story. She could be quite convincing and her fake record was squeaky clean.

She saw how Sam checked his phone every few minutes and she could see the tired worry in his eyes.

"He's going to be alright right?" She asked.

Sam smiled a watery smile placing his hands on his hips. "My brother is very stubborn if you haven't figured that out yet. He's meant to go out in a blaze of glory, not like this." He sat beside her and took her hand. "My brother cares about you very much and I hope that this doesn't make you run away."

"Has he told you he cares?"

"He doesn't have to say a word. The way that he has been smiling the way that he talks about you and just the fact that you have spent more time with him than any women in his entire life says it all."

"Who's to say that he won't come to his senses?" Arandi sighed staring at the suddenly very interesting comforter.

Sam frowned. "Dean is no saint, Arandi, and he sure wouldn't expect you to be."

She wished that she could tell him the truth and just get it over with but she couldn't run the risk of putting his life in danger.

"Talk to him when he's better tell him whatever you think he would turn on you for and I bet that he'll smile and tell you that he's got one better."

Arandi smiled and wiped away the tear that she just wasn't used to at all. "I like it when he smiles."

Sam pulled her into a hug and they sat in silence for a few minutes.

Sam paced in front of Dean's hospital bed and Zane and Xander watched him. It was a miracle the floor wasn't worn away.

Three days had passed and Sam was getting just a bit on edge.

Arandi had already gone to the police and no investigation would follow since her record was clean and all the dead men had files that were miles long.

"Sam, you're making me dizzy." Bobby said from the doorway.

"I can't sit, Bobby, this wait…." His words ended when Dean moaned low. Sam rushed to him.

Dean's eyes fluttered open and he coughed. He reached out his hand as if seeking something and Zane appeared quick with a basin.

Sam got the idea and they both helped Dean turn to throw up. Finally he leaned back breathing hard and his eyes were still incredibly glassy and tired.

"Arandi?" He asked hoarsely.

"She's at the towers." Sam replied.

Zane was busy cleaning Dean's mouth with a wet wash cloth as Bobby and Xander both watched with raised eyebrows.

"Is she ok?"

"She's worried about you."

Dean grabbed Zane's bandaged hand and looked at it. "What did you do?"

"No big deal, boss, stuck my hand where I shouldn't." Zane said beet red.

Dean turned his eyes to Sam and Sam nodded reading the 'you better tell me later' in his eyes.

"Dax?"

"We haven't found him yet but we will."

Dean nodded and closed his eyes again. In seconds he was out cold.

"Michael, Matt, I'm leaving you in charge of Dean while I go run an errand." Sam was saying as he tucked his gun inside his jacket.

"You need a glock to buy apples these days?" Michael asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Some housewife's get downright nasty at the checkout." Matt huffed.

"You're calling yourself a housewife? That's sweet." Sam grinned.

"I can still kick your ass, Sasquatch." Matt growled.

"Not even on a good day, sweetheart." Sam said.

"You found Dax didn't you?" Xander appeared out of nowhere.

"What makes you say that?" Sam asked.

"I can't find Zane anywhere and he heard whatever you said to Bobby."

"Fuck." Sam growled and ran for his car and sped away.

"Alright geniuses who told you that Dean could leave the room?" Ellen asked from the door to his room.

Matt and Michaels exchanged looks of horror and ran to the room. It sat empty the IV dangling on the floor with fresh blood drops still dripping beneath it.
