Lexa POV

Fully dressed in my armour and war paint I made my way down to the stables finding Indra and my other warriors already ready to leave.

Indra was once again the first to come to me "The horses are ready as you wished Commander"

"Thankyou Indra" I replied, nodding my head.

Clarke POV

Last night I could barely sleep and my restlessness had woken Octavia on several occasions. She made a groaning noise and turned to her side "My god Clarke quit it would you."

"Sorry" I muttered and got out of the bed letting her get some rest.

I quickly threw on the grounder clothing Octavia gave me and a small amount of war paint before then leaving the tent. Opening the flap of the tent I realised it was still quite dark for and would be still for a couple more hours but that didn't stop me, it's not like I could sleep.

For some reason I was feeling anxious so I decided to visit the small training ground that was created down the hill from the village and hopefully lessen whatever seemed to be bothering me out of my mind.

Walking past a large tree I noticed something large in it, from the looks of it possibly a grounder. It brought me back to last night when I asked Octavia where Lincoln had been sleeping since we were sharing the spare bed. With a straight face she shrugged and replied 'probably in a tree.'

I had laughed thinking she was joking but now looking up the tree I couldn't help but notice the figure looked a lot like Lincoln.

Shaking my head at the grounder's ways, it's absurd for a full grown male to sleep in a tree. Instead of thinking too much of it I continued down the small hill leading to the training ground.

Once I reached the bottom and the training ground came into my sight I noticed the lack of grounders. It had no grass just a large flat area of dirt with wooden posts coming out of the dirt, that had been seriously hacked at by weapons.

The first morning was when I stumbled upon the area, I was alone and tried being brave by having a go at some of their weapons. I didn't know what most of them were called but I tried putting two and two together, unfortunately all I manage to do was make myself look like a fool.

After I heard laugher in the distance I felt my whole body go red, lucky for me it was only hunter. That day he began training me and every morning after, I'm no Octavia but at least I can defend myself. You can't become a warrior in three days.

He was never easy on me, which was good because I didn't want him to be. According to Hunter Polis may seem safe and pretty on the outside but the truth is if you live there you will need to know how to protect yourself."

Octavia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts, I turned around and saw her running down the hill. "Clarke wait up!"

Shoving my gloves on that was now covered in metal pieces for armour I looked up. "What is it," I asked.

"I wouldn't wait around for Hunter to show if I were you," I frowned. "Apparently something is happening in the village today, I bumped into him and he told me to tell you he needs to go hunting but will be back around noon.

"You wanna spar" I ask her, raising my brows.

Her eye filled with excitement "Hell yeah," she grinned.

We must have been at it for a while for the next thing I knew I could see the sun rising and the grounders version of the 'school yard bully' eyeing Octavia and I.

Noticing the stare as well Octavia spun around "You got a problem" she glared back.

"I don't think it's a good idea to poke the wild animal," I whispered.

Octavia didn't back down only stayed her stubborn self, which is why 10min later we are both covered in bruises and I have what I suspect one broken rib.

Stumbling our way up the hill I glared at Octavia "You happy now?"

She actually smiled, "No and Yes"

Confused I grabbed her shoulder pulling her to stop. "What's that suppose to mean."

"It means no I'm not happy we got our asses kicked, but also yes I'm happy you got him between the legs with a metal bar." She then looked at me with approval "Stroke of genius Clarke."

"Glad you approve" I replied, looking over my shoulder to see the grounder still curled up in a ball, holding himself.

After some serious medical attention by the village river, I managed to stop Octavia's bleeding nose and gave us both stitches. She had needed some on both her arms and legs and mine across my waste, with the added sprained left rib.

Our bruises would heal in time I was lucky enough that all the grounders blows missed my face. Octavia however had a swollen eye and a bruise along her cheekbone.

Since we were up so early we managed to make our way to our people's camp while it was still morning. Bellamy was the first of them to see us. "What the hell happened to you two" he frowned.

"Octavia likes poking wild animals" I replied dryly

Octavia made what could only be a snort "Hey…he had it coming"

I rolled my eyes and turned back to her "Seriously?"

Looking around the camp I then turned to Bellamy "Have they eaten yet? Octavia and I manage to sneak out some food."

While the group ate Bellamy and I managed to catch up on our plans for Polis and our plans to leave soon.

According to Hunter entering Polis isn't going to be as easy as we thought. It's more like that Book I read on The Arc 'Charlie in the Chocolate Factory' where you need a limited golden ticket.

Lexa made it sound so easy, but then again she is the commander. If I had gone with her they'd of opened the gate in two seconds flat.

Just before leaving I added, "I'm sure I can bring a map of the Capital or at the very least I'll copy one. Either Octavia, Lincoln or I will bring you one tonight."

It had been hard to sneak off unnoticed. The village is so small it's like everyone knows what everyone else is doing, we've tried our best to keep in contact with the camp as often as possible

"Did Raven keep the radios or whatever they were from mount weather?" I asked bellamy

Bellamy shook his head "She still has them but they need fixing, I'll try to get her to fix them by tonight."

Looking up at the sky I could see dark clouds in the distant "We better get back, before someone notices where gone.

Octavia and I both said our goodbye's before leaving.

Lexa POV

Looking towards the sky I noticed the dark clouds.

"Indra!" I called and waited for her horse to ride up beside me.

"Yes Commander" she replied, her face emotionless. Ever since we left camp she had been acting off.

"We'll need to hurry if we want to skip the storm." I replied.

"Yes Commander" she repeated.

Turning towards my surrounding warriors I commanded "Gonakru drag raun" (warriors fall behind)."

As my warriors fell behind us I turned to Indra. "Is their something you wish to say Indra."

"I just….what is the meaning of all this. Why come here if you have no business, you were expected to be in Polis two days ago, we must inform them." I could tell she was holding more in but was worried she would cross a line.

"I am the commander Indra, I am not expected to be anywhere. I go where I believe I need to be and I certainly do not need to inform them of my absence."

Turning my head back to the path I called to the rest of my warriors "Gonakru" They all went back into position.

Clarke POV

Octavia and I sat in the spare bed with the rain pouring down outside. Lincoln I think was stretched out on the cushions below the table.

I noticed Octavia looking at my hair "What's wrong, why are you looking at my hair for", I asked patting down my hair.

Octavia laughed "What's not wrong" then a look of sympathy flashed on her face. "Here turn around" I did as she asked and felt her begin to undo my braids then run her fingers through my hair, releasing any notes. "Wow your hair is crazy curly" she added, then braided the sides again.

Right when she finished we heard the sound of wind whistling through the hut. I'm sure we both jumped at least 2 meters in the air before making our way out to see what had happened.

Lincoln was sitting up now his eyes the size of owls, normally I would of found it amusing but his horrified expression changed this and I swung my body towards the door flap and almost choked on the nuts I was currently chewing.

"Fuckkkk" I heard Octavia draw out.

I wrote this chapter many times all of the very different. It was difficult to pick but in the end I went with this one. Tell me what you think.
