Somewhere
Tsuna stared in fascination as the clouds flew past them. Or as they flew past the clouds. His hands were pressed against the small window of the plane.
"Is there something interesting to see, Tsuna?"
Tsuna turned to the man next to him and shook his head. "No, it's just, I've never flown in an airplane. The whole thing is terribly exciting for me, Lancia –san."
Lancia laughed. "Let the -san. Just call me Lancia. We're colleagues." Tsuna grinned at him.
"For us, it's also not necessary, Tsuna," said a woman in front of him. Approval came from several places around them.
Tsuna wanted to thank them all, to have so easily accepted him into their group because most agents here were quite a bit older than him. Lancia pointed out of the window and told Tsuna to also watch out.
"Look, we're there."
With anticipation Tsuna looked out of the window again. Soon his second mission would begin. His first was two years ago and he was twelve years old by now. And now they arrived at the destination of Tsuna's first major mission: Italy.
The Italian headquarters of the I.S.S. was designed along the lines of "If you want to hide something, then you do it as publicly as possible". It was in a corporate building deep in the heart of the city. But how normal it looked from the outside, the more it resembled the Japanese HQ from the inside.
The six agents from Japan were in a conference room that was assigned to them for their time there, standing around a small table. On the table lay a card on which multiple lines with different colors were shown.
"So, everyone has understood what our mission is here? I know we set off a bit hectic from Japan, so that's why I ask."
The unsuspecting view of some agents was answer enough. Sighing Lancia pointing at the map. "The leader of a Yakuza gang, who also is on our most-wanted list, will meet in the early evening with the boss of the Cancello family for negotiations about a possible collaboration. The meeting will take place in an old mansion outside the city. This will be our chance to kill two birds with one stone." Lancia saw each one deep in the eyes. "But be careful. More than usual. Cancello is a high-level Mafia family and allies of the Vongola. I think I don't need to explain the Vongola." His listeners nodded.
Tsuna leaned against the table and stared at the map. "Lancia, if we are the purple colored line, then who are the other three?"
Lancia pointed at the individual lines while explaining. "They are our partners in this mission. Agents of the branches of the I.S.S. in Italy, Germany and France."
Tsuna had, until now, never worked with foreign agents, but he was sure that he would learn something from them. Even if he couldn't understand them. In dreams the languages are the same.
The plan had worked relatively well. The Mafiosi on the outside were removed quietly and quickly. One of the teams stayed at the door, while the remaining agents sneaked into the villa. Everything went smoothly until they reached the main room, in which the transaction should be completed. What they didn't expect, though, was that Vongola's men were already there, as an additional security measure. Chaos unleashed.
Sure something can go wrong with such large landscaped mission. Not everything goes according to plan, but at this moment, where bullets and wild curses whizzed over Tsuna's head, he felt transported back to the time of his first mission. The whole situation was just painful familiar.
Still, it was a situation that the older agents had already experienced and actually could cope with. Were it not for the one man who stood out from the rest of the Mafiosi. Each of his shots was perfect. Since he came with the Mafiosi from Vongola, Tsuna assumed that he is working for the Vongola.
He was actually the class of opponents with which Tsuna would not get himself involved, but all doubts were resolved into rage when Lancia was overwhelmed. He seemed to say something to Lancia. Tsuna took the opportunity while the other was distracted.
But before Tsuna could shoot, he spun around and pressed the gun against Tsuna's forehead.
So fast! Tsuna felt paralyzed.
The man paused. In his eyes there was a certain familiarity and realization. And since he had not put any bullet in Tsuna's brain yet, Tsuna lowered his gun and asked a question that puzzled him since he had seen the man in that chaos.
"Have we met before?"
Chapter 6: ... and he questioned the world in all its facets
Namimori
Tsuna jumped up as if bitten by a tarantula, and went backward to get away. But he almost fell over a couple of unconscious body. A wall finally stopped his retreat.
"Hibari!"
Oh God, please don't!, Tsuna groaned inwardly .
Hibari was just standing there, where he had saved Tsuna moments ago. When the smoke had dissipated, he looked at the battlefield more closely. As people had better stories to tell than silent places, he turned to the only person still standing: Tsuna. Ganauche had disappeared. Zack! Simply gone.
"What is going on here?"
On the assumption that his new partner probably stood before him and, well, Hibari has indeed saved him somehow, Tsuna decided to summarize the events of the day.
"I suppose you already know of Ganauche, even though I have no idea how the I.S.S. can overlooked something like the job of this person, but anyway ..."
"What are you talking about?" Hibari looked at him confused. Irritated and Hibari was not a good combination in any case. "What is this I.S.S.?"
Tsuna looked at Hibari with an open mouth. Does that mean...
Thank you, God! Thank you!
But as much as Tsuna would like to perform a dance of joy, he still had a problem: it was violent, armed, and stood before him with information that it shouldn't have.
Think, Tsuna! What's so crazy that it seems credible again?
"A musical." Tsuna regretted this decision a second later. A musical!
Hibari raised an eyebrow. "A musical?"
Rather than to come up with something else, Tsuna just couldn't stop talking. "Yes, a musical. This was a sample and you have, more or less, sent all our actors into unconsciousness."
"If that's so, then sing a piece."
"I do what?"
"Sing!"
"Hiie!" Yep, Tsuna regretted this decision dearly.
Okay, it can't get any worse. Poor Tsuna, when is he going to learn?
"Hiriki na boku wa efude wa totte kawaita e no gu ni mizu wo sasu ..."
A tonfa dug deep into the wall right next to Tsuna. Would he move a few inches to the left, he would collide with the weapon. Tsuna laughed nervously to himself. Singing has never been one of my strengths.
"What is really going on here, Sawada Tsunayoshi?" Hibari was coming towards him, a dark aura surrounded him. Tsuna had learned in his years learned by the I.S.S. to go out of the way by an aura like that, especially if it came from your superiors. The teenager in front of him was not his boss, but still... Hibari kept his other tonfa at Tsuna's throat. "Answer quickly, or I'll bite you to death."
Sweat ran from his forehead. The cold metal pressed more and more against his neck. "I really can't say anything, Hibari," Tsuna stated firm. He had also learned to withstand interrogation. However, Hibari Kyoya was in none of his scenarios.
Hibari was unimpressed. „For whom do you work?"
This is bad. If this goes on...
"For the I.S.S. This acronym stands for International Security Service," answered a voice Hibaris question. From the narrow side alley where Tsuna came from, footsteps were heard. Only when the person had come out of the dark alley, they could see who it was.
Tsuna would have fallen, if Hibari still wouldn't absently try to strangle him. That explains a lot.
Hibari let go of Tsuna, took the second tonfa in the wall and turned to their latest visitors. "Yamamoto Takeshi." He stared at Yamamoto. "Who exactly are you?"
Yamamoto began to get something from an oblong bag he carried on his back. "I am an agent of the I.S.S." The blade of a sword flashed in the sunlight. Yamamoto looked at it satisfied. Suddenly he directed the blade against the prefect. "And Tsuna's partner."
Namimori
With his hands in his pockets, Ganauche walked leisurely through the streets Namimori's. He was a bit sorry to have left the young agent alone. But whoever had raged there in the smoke, he didn't want to meet. At least not yet. The time was not right.
And what do I do now? The battle has at least partially provided entertainment. Mmh, I've heard that there is a good bar in the city.
But half way to his destination, he saw something much more interesting. A small child with black hair and a suit standing on a low wall in front of him.
Ganauche joined Reborn and leaned against the wall. To his surprise it was Reborn who spoke first.
„So, you were at this organization?"
„Yes. That reminds me, you used to have something to do with the I.S.S, right?"
"You could probably say that we ran into each other a few times. But as much as I'd like to chat with you about old times, it interests me more, what you are doing here."
Ganauche's laughter echoed up to the sky. "You know that, Reborn I just told you. I'm visiting an old friend."
"Let the nonsense. Why are you really here?"
The laughter ceased immediately and was replaced by an aura of respectability. The guardian looked at Reborn for a while, but Reborn held the look easily. Finally, he sighed and pulled out a cigarette from a jacket pocket and lit it.
"Order from the Ninth. Can't say more." Reborn took the information but did not ask further.
"How are you getting on with Tsunayoshi?"
"Surprisingly good," Reborn replied succinctly. He himself wasn't sure what to make of the boy.
Ganauche mimicked offended face. "Nothing more? No small details? Come on, there's definitely something. I mean, I never got to see the boy myself."
Reborn felt a certain annoyance. "Shut up, you idiot. You're almost as bad as Iemitsu!"
"And that we wouldn't want."
The two stood just there for a few minutes silently until Ganauche broke the silence. "I've met a promising young agent today. Sarui Mitsuhiko was his name."
Reborn gave him a curious look.
"Hey, if he lives around here, you can use him in one of your little schemes. On the other hand, he probably would immediate flee by the sight of you."
"What are you talking about? I 'm just a normal, sweet child," Reborn replied with innocence eyes. In a heartbeat these eyes narrowed to slits. "And give me a cigarette."
Ganauche looked skeptically at Reborn.
"I'm not sure if it is a good idea to give a sweet child as you are one a cigarette," Ganauche mused. He knew that it is not health-promoting to overly annoy Reborn, but he just couldn't resist.
Reborn held the lightning guardian unceremoniously a gun under his nose. "Just give me the stupid thing already."
Ganauche held his hands defensively in the air. „Okay, okay." The older man gave the desired item to Reborn, but he was just staring at it. Reborn seemed to be deep in thought. Can the whole thing here really just be a big coincidence? Ever since I arrived, it is too fishy here. Tsuna does not behave as described in the reports. Could however also be due to this idiot Iemitsu. And what with this Sarui Mitsuhiko?
Ganauche took a gulp from his cigarette and exhaled deeply. His eyes fell on the child next to him. "What are you thinking right now?"
Reborn didn't look at him. Rather, his eyes fell to the sky, which now glowed with a soft orange.
"Nothing."
I.S.S. HQ
„...then you, uh, bite the Yakuza, we went to the HQ and thus arrived in the present," Tsuna ended his trip to the past. He had tried to keep his career as compact as possible, he knew exactly how much Hibari hated to talk about the bush.
He, Yamamoto and Hibari sat on chairs in front of Jared's desk. After the initial shock Hibari had naturally demanded an explanation, and before he and Yamamoto could devastate the area even more than it already was, Tsuna suggested returning to the HQ, and let Jared bring the problem back to order. Well, and so Tsuna was back at square one.
Why do pretty much every one of my days end up here recently?
Now, Yamamoto and Tsuna waited excitedly, as Jared would solve the whole thing. Would he just ask Hibari to remain silent to preserve? Or would he delete his memories, as in the movie Men in Black? Could they even do something like that at all?
But Jared decided to do seemingly nothing of the above. Instead, he has probably unknowingly formed a team with Reborn.
„What do you three think about forming a team?"
„What," it came from Yamamoto and Tsuna. Hibari stared at Jared. "But Jared," Tsuna said, in a voice that clearly asked: Are you insane? "Hibari hasn't received any official training from the ISS or knew it even existed."
Jared looked at Tsuna from cool, calculative eyes. „Was not he the one who saved you and defeated the Yakuza?"
"Yes, but ..." But more he couldn't say.
"Then that's official enough. What do you say, Hibari?," asked Jared as he turned to the bloodthirsty youth.
Hibari stayed a few minutes calm before answering. "I protect the peace of Namimori." Translation: I can beat up more of these herbivores?
Jared had this smile on his lips, which Tsuna knew only too well, since it was striking on Reborn's lips. Most recently, this smile namely influenced his life. "The peace of the world must also be protected by someone." Translation: As many as you want.
Now there is also a sinister smile on Hibaris face when he agreed, nodding. Yamamoto wrapped his arms around his two new teammates. „This will certainly be great!" Yamamoto exclaimed, laughing.
While Hibari asked to be released immediately by Yamamoto and Jared just laughed heartily, Tsuna could only think of one thing: Yes, really great. Why does this day keep getting worse by the minute?
Between Hibaris permanent evil eye and Yamamoto reasonless laughter, Tsuna felt more in danger than on any of his previous missions.
It only remains to hope that he still had is sanity at the end. Well, at least more than usual.
Tsuna's Home
How could it become just so incredibly complicated? I just want my normal life back. The one before Reborn showed up on my doorstep. Or at least that stupid holiday!
"I'm back home, Okaa-san!," Tsuna yelled as he walked in the door. After today, he just wanted to take a shower and then sleep peacefully. If it was not for these self-appointed tutor aka "the Baby/ Demon from Hell" and its fate given task which apparently included to make Tsuna's life, well, hell.
The young agent had hardly set foot into the house, already he flew straight out again. Ungently he landed in the front yard along the way. On his belly, a green backpack landed. As Tsuna tried to push away the backpack, he almost wrenched his arm, but the green attacker did not move a piece. Okay, correction, a particularly heavy, green backpack. And this position was far from comfortable. And three times I can probably guess where that came from.
As if on cue the answer hopped on the backpack. Tsuna did not find that extra weight funny when he started to turn slightly blue.
„Ciaossu, Tsuna," Reborn greeted him.
Reborn, who'd have thought it. "Man Reborn, what did you put in the backpack? Stones?" Tsuna didn't even wonder how Reborn could have thrown the backpack at him. Nothing the baby did surprised him anymore.
Reborn smiled at him balefully. „Oh, how did you know, Tsuna?" He opened it and out tumbled actually a heap of stones. Are you kidding me? Tsuna stared at Reborn stunned. He had a very uneasy feeling about this.
"Please tell me you're going on a trip, Reborn."
"You're getting better, Tsuna. We go camping in the mountains."
„And on this "camping trip" will you carry the kilo backpack?" Tsuna tried to give his real question emphatically. But Reborn had to burst his bubble full of hopes and dreams heartlessly.
„But where would be the fun in that?"
Tsuna could imagine only too well. With all his power Tsuna leaned against the foreign weight and pushed it off him. "Forget it," he called on his straight path to the door.
„That said, I can tell Nana of your last biology work?"
Tsuna stopped, as if frozen to stone. I hate you! Quick as a flash he turned back, swung the backpack around his shoulders and staggered back to Reborn. „All right, let's go camping! And when we get back again, I'll throw you out of my house," shouted Tsuna and ran, without waiting for an answer or a kick, to the road.
Reborn looked after Tsuna's running shape. His eyes held a dangerous darkness. "Yes, you do that. And then we will find out just who you really are, Sawada Tsunayoshi."
Preview: In Yamamoto's environment it comes to explosions, a madman's running with a bag on his head through the forest and Reborn meets his previously most annoying opponent.
The song is actually a small part of the first KHR! Opening song "Drawing Days".
Also, I edited the story a little. But no changes to the storyline.
