Rider
Rider was walking through violet city on his way like any other day, he passed sprout tower where he stopped to visit the monks as he did every Saturday.
"You really must get some friends your own age" they'd tell him, but how could he? When all his childhood friends turned 10 they began their journey and left with there pokemon. But not Rider, he never really did get caught up in battles and they never gave him the thrill that ryhorn racing did. He just loved it. He loved how the wind rushed through his dark brown hair and how his loose fitting jacket rattled in the wind.
Rider was 16 now and had never really ventured much further than outside of violet city, only ever to capture his first pokemon, ryhorn.
He loved ryhorn, he never left its side and had been with it for 3 years now. He even rode ryhorn around the roads of violet city.
Shortly after leaving sprout tower, Rider made his way to the violet gym to deliver the pokemon food for all falkner's pokemon.
Rider's dad owned the pokechow shop and enjoyed using ryhorn to help deliver the larger deliveries around town.
"So ryhorn how about after this last delivery we go do some practicing, after all now that I'm 16 we can enter all the races we want now"
Ryhorn responded with a comprehensive growl that he had become accustomed to.
At that point a black transit van screeched around the corner from behind him and flew past, bumping into ryhorn' body and knocking Rider off. Although the van looked like it had taken more of an impact then ryhorn and had left a dint in the side.
"Are you ok ryhorn?" Rider asked in a daze who was still recovering from being thrown onto the ground.
"Ryyy!" It growled in response.
Rider knew what that meant, he leapt back onto his companion
"Let's go!"...
JK
JK was leaving the violet gym with Marine and Kourey in tow.
"1 down 7 to go" he proclaimed with joy.
"Yeah and just 6 months to do it in" marine replied, dampening the mood.
That's right he thought it'll be hard enough to travel the whole johto region in 6 months, let alone gather gym badges and train pokemon .But that hardly bothered him, he had just defeated a gym leader after just 5 days from starting his journey and no one could take that away from him.
"Hey aipom, how about you look after this till we get you healed up buddy" he pinned his newly earned zephyr badge to its silk scarf to which aipom seemed overjoyed.
"With that special pink colouring and that badge pinned to your scarf, you're almost as stylish as my water pokemon!" Laughed Marine.
"It's a good job aipom doesn't battle like your water pokemon isn't it?" Laughed back JK, causing Kourey to let out a wail of laughter aswell.
"What is that supposed to mean!" She snapped, her face getting redder by the second, only adding to their laughter.
At that moment a black van appeared seemingly from nowhere
And barrelled on towards them.
"Pom!" Aipom leapt off JK's shoulder and fired a powerful swift that hit JK, Marine and Kourey knocking them off their feet.
As JK was falling, the van flew past him, although for a second it felt like it was moving in slow motion and JK looked at the driver.
No, not them!
Seconds after the back doors of the van burst open with the green haired rocket grunt with his tangela
"Tangela, stun spore!"
The tangela fired a yellow spore and temporary paralysed JK and co.
"Vine whip!" Tangela then snatched aipom into the van and it reversed out and drove out of the street.
A few seconds later JK recovered from his paralysis, although the others still couldn't move, he jumped to his feet.
At that point a dark haired kid came riding round the corner on what appeared to be a pokemon
"Where did that van go!" The dark haired kid shouted, his voice was deep and dark, almost as dark as his eyes staring at him. His confident tone seemed to disempower JK.
"He... They went that way, they took my pokemon" said JK
"Well this just got serious, get on! You two take these!" The kid threw three large tins onto marine and Kourey "give them to the gym leader and tell him what's happened!"
"Kourey, take this aswell and get it to the pokemon centre!" He threw Beedrill's pokeball.
I'd never forgive myself if they got beedrill aswell
The two rode off at a great speed.
"Thanks for this, I'm JK by the way"
"Rider" he responded
This kid is even colder than me, but this isn't the time
The Pokemon they were riding on was extremely fast, despite its large size, they were catching up to the van as it began to leave the city.
"We've got them now" said rider
You joking, we're starting to lose them
"Now ryhorn, stonedge!"
Ryhorn stomped on the ground and stopped as two blue rings surrounded it that quickly turned into multiple pointed stones that fired into the wheels of the van, bursting it and causing it to to overturn.
The two grunts crawled out of the van and were visibly wounded the guy had a distinctive large graze on his head.
"You two will pay for that, go tangela and use leech seed!"
Rider responded by tackling JK off his pokemon whilst the seed landed directly on its horn, with vines. wrapping round it.
"Horn attack!" Ryhorn's horn became covered in a white light and enlarged greatly, splitting the leech seed and stopped its effects whilst it attacked tangela and knocked it out instantly, as it was already weakened by the crash.
"Ryhorn charge again!"
This time it tackled the two grunts to the ground and pressed them down. Setting aipom free and causing it to run into JK's arms.
"Are you ok buddy" he asked.
It punched the sky with its tail
"Ok then, use swift!" Aipom leapt off JK and fired its attack whilst the grunts were down.
"Time to retreat" they agreed as they jumped in the back of the van and remerged on two bikes and retreated.
JK turned to Rider "thanks so much rider you saved my aipom,and my new badge. is there any way I can repay you."
Rider smiled "let's get back to the pokemon Centre and get your shiny aipom healed, I'm assuming that's why they wanted it"
JK looked down.
"To be honest, I think it's a reason, but certainly not the reason"
JK thought back to when aipom revealed its inner strength the day they met.
I can't tell him, it doesn't matter who he is, nothing is more important to me than keeping aipom safe
The two travelled back to the Pokemon centre to meet a frantic Marine
"Just were have you been JK!" She snapped like his mother.
"I do apologise marine, I got a bit caught up in chasing down the two thieves that stole my Aipom" he responded
She ignored. "And you, Mr tall, dark haired and ryhorn racer, just who do you think I am, your delivery girl, I don't think so, if you ever dare command me again I'll..."
Rider jolted down to one knee and grasped Marine's hand, completely shocking her.
"I am so very sorry, I can't believe that my bone headed nature blinded me of your beauty, but it is clear that something inside me knew that you was the only one capable of such an important task as delivering my fathers renowned pokechow, and for that I give you my greatest respect"
Marine blushed, completely taken aback, JK noticed that this kid certainly knew how to manipulate women.
Creep
"W-well, I suppose I can thank you this time, but I think you may have to stick around to make it up to me"
I don't think I can watch this anymore, wait am I feeling...jealous
"Hey if you two can take a second and stop flirting, did you say you are a ryhorn racer? Like them races that are famous in the Kanto region?"
Rider rose to his feet "well I do own a ryhorn, and I do ride it don't I" he turned back to marine.
"I bet your name is as pretty as the beautiful eyes"
Marine blushed again "my name is marine"
At that point nurse joy appeared with aipom and beedrill's pokeballs.
"So JK, from that badge that aipom had I take it you like a challenge, why don't you go take your half baked pokemon and try taking on the elder of sprout tower, he's just as strong as Falkner and I'll take care of Marine till you get back"
JK's anger flushed over him again
"What did you just say about my pokemon! How about I take on you and we will see just how half baked my Pokemon are" His face began to turn bright red.
"Wow kid, your personality is like ice and fire, if you can't control your own psyche how do you expect to control your pokemon"
"Who the fu.." Marine interrupted JK
"Maybe you should just go try challenging the elder, I'll be fine here and I'll see you in about an hour?"
"Fine" JK stormed out and made his way to the sprout tower, it was huge, it made the gym look pathetic in comparison.
There was a large doorknob in the shape of a bellsprout which JK knocked
"I demand to challenge the elder"
He was met by stony silence, he rang the doorknob again, he was still fuming over his encounter with rider.
That's it, rider!
"Rider sent me, now for the last time, I demand a challenge!"
Nothing...
He turned in frustration.
It was that smug prick rider, he just wanted rid of me to be with marine
At that moment the door opened behind him with a large creek.
"You have come to challenge me?"
"Yes, rider sent me"
"I'm afraid you have been tricked young man, we do not promote fighting pokemon for material gain here"
"I knew it, wait till I get my hands on him"
"Wait, young man please come with me a moment"
JK reluctantly followed the elder into the tower and the elder proceeded to tell him of Rider's past and why he was the way he was. Rider never really left home as not long after his 10th birthday his mother passed away and he spent his adolescence helping his dad recover and keep business going with his older brothers.
After his long talk with the elder a comforting effect overcame him and he no longer felt a hate towards Rider, but felt sorry for him.
I suppose he isn't all that bad, besides if it wasn't for him i would never have got aipom back
JK made his way back to the Pokemon centre a bit over an our after leaving, again to a hysteric Marine and to a grinning rider.
"Why did you take so long!" She said in her high tone as usual.
"Sorry, it took me a while to find it, and u spent some time talking to the monks, since they don't battle after all..." JK made the comment on purpose just to raise a laugh out of Rider, if it was anyone else he might just have bust their nose.
JK looked back to Marine, waiting for her second remark, by now he'd worked out her moves like clockwork.
"Well it doesn't matter anyways, I have good news!"
"Yeah? And what's that?" He said fumbling for his pokenav.
"Rider said he's going to travel with us"
At that moment JK froze, his pokenav hit the hard floor.
"He's... What"
