The gunshot rang loud in Magnus' ears, deafening him. He felt dead weight against his back as he staggered. The hand around his throat slipped away and suddenly he could breathe again. He tugged in a breath, looking at Kurt with wide eyes. His partner let out a slow breath. Magnus turned and looked behind him. Corey was sprawled across the ground, eyes lifeless, a bullet through his brain. Magnus looked back at Kurt. All at once his hearing came back and he hurried over to his partner. He swore he saw the older man's hands trembling, but those hands were quickly shoved in his jacket pockets.
"Thanks," Kurt mumbled. "Now come on, you've got paperwork to do," the man said. Magnus grumbled under his breath about how he was just almost killed and how paperwork was stupid.
"What was that?" Kurt asked.
"Nothing, Kurt," Magnus said, making his way to Kurt's car and crawling into the passenger seat.
"Umhm," Kurt said, getting in beside him, driving back to the station. Once he had gotten inside Ann-Britt enveloped him in a hug.
"I'm glad you're okay, Magnus," she said, holding him out at arm's length and inspecting him.
"I have to say, I'm glad I'm okay too," he replied with a smile.
"Martinsson!" Kurt called, heading to his office.
"Yeah, yeah, I know; paperwork," he replied, rolling his eyes. He moved over to his desk, setting down in front of his laptop. He smiled as he moved his fingers across the worn keys.
"It's good to be back," he said, before getting to work.
Besides, paperwork was a lot better than being kidnapped and held at gunpoint, so really, who was he to complain?
Okay, I am so sorry this took so long. I totally forgot about it! Ah! Well, here is the last chapter. I know it's short but really, most last chapters are and there really wasn't that much to wrap up!
Love&Hugs to everyone who has stayed with me this entire trip!
