Today is a good day and good days call for trash

Simple Pleasures

tender kisses when one brings home flowers for the other.

Haymitch always felt a little high right after they had finished a performance. The cheers of the crowd, the rush of adrenaline… As they took their bows, he always felt ready to take on the world.

They thanked the audience a last time and Effie briefly hugged him again because they had been flawless and it would take a miracle for anyone else to steal the lead from them now. They had won, they knew it, everyone backstage who was watching knew it and it felt good.

She flashed him a smile and glided in Mags' direction, pulling him by the hand. He was slower than she was and their fingers untangled. She shot him an inquisitive look but he was already bending to snatch a flower from the ice, beating to it one of the little girls tasked with the mission of picking up fans' gifts.

Effie was still on the ice when he caught up and circled around her to hand her the red rose. She rolled her eyes at him but smiled all the same. He went on gliding backward until his back hit the rink wall, a smirk firmly on his lips.

He knew everyone in the stadium had their eyes on them but he didn't even care.

It had been a good day.

They had won – or would win very shortly in any case.

He was happy.

He expected her to go around him and to the door but she glided straight to him, slowing down just enough that their collision was soft. She placed a hand on his shoulder and raised on the tip of her skate to press a kiss on his cheek. It lingered a little more than a friendly peck warranted and he read between the lines of sweet pleasures to come.

sticky ice cream kisses, sitting on a bench in the park and laughing against each other's lips.

"I will be too heavy for you to lift by the end of this trip." Effie laughed, taking a bite of her strawberry ice-cream cone. It froze her teeth but that was how she liked ice-cream.

Haymitch, on the other hand, was making a show of licking his vanilla one while tossing her obscene looks that only succeeded in making her laugh at him. She would have scolded him if they hadn't been walking on a deserted part of the beach.

She thought this was paradise.

Taking a stroll on the beach with him, the waves licking at their feet, eating ice cream, holding hands… They had needed holydays so badly she was dreading going back to Aspen and the mansion where they could never really be alone.

"Lucky for you I'm pretty strong." he snorted. "And you could use some curves."

"Shocking!" she gasped, still laughing. "Are you saying I am less than perfect? You are lucky I am in a good mood."

"Nobody's perfect, sweetheart." he smirked. "Not even you."

Her smile faltered a little because even though she knew he was joking – mostly – it hit a little too close to home. They walked in silence for a few moment. He didn't seem to notice any change in her, he ate his ice-cream and they eventually sat down to watch the ocean while she finished hers.

After a while, he grew bored with that and tried to steal it from her.

They struggled for it.

She wasn't sure how she ended up on her back in the hot sand but, surely enough, the strawberry ice-cream ended up in a heap next to her head and he ended up on top of her. The kisses were messy, their faces were sticky from chin to nose and she ended up laughing again before long because they were supposed to be adults and there they went again, unable to do anything as casual as taking a stroll without ending up with their tongue down each other's throat.

It was ridiculous how in love she was.

Some silly fluff... I know it's probably ooc but they're young and in love and sometimes some fluff is good too ;) See you in a bit in HADS! Let me know what you think!
