Chapter 6 safe place

I don't own vampire kisses thanks to everyone who reviews.

Valentine trudged down the uneven stairs, into the yellow light. In the weakest shadows two figures were revealed. "Billy, I'm coming!" The white haired teen shouted. Henry looked up from where he sat, cradling Billy's head on his lap. "Shih! They'll hear you." Valentine nodded slowly. Making his way over to the pair. Kneeling down to inspect the frail human, the vampire glared at Henry. "You betrayed him." "It was a chance to protect him and love him better." Protect him from what? You? Because that's what you'll be doing. A new born has trouble controlling the thirst. Or did your maker not explain anything?"

Upon closer inspection Valentine realized that the teen had scratch marks on his neck. "What did you do! Is your bloodlust so unchecked that you couldn't help but attack the boy who you say is your friend?" Henry chuckled, and narrowed his eyes. "What, don't tell me you're jealous of my love marks?" The boy asked, gazing down at his friend. "Oh yes very loving, while he's afraid and unconscious." A loud bang sounded from upstairs.

Valentine turned white. "If you care about Billy at all- help me get him out of here and somewhere safe."

The door opened. Lestat stood on the threshold of the basement and looked down at Henry. "Fledgling, take the human back to the graveyard. The little prince and I have things to discuss." Eager to follow orders, the new initiate rushed out.

Valentine growled, lunging after the human being carried. Lestat glared at valentine. "Your siblings have been made aware of your situation. They're on their way." Valentine rose to his feet, striding towards the elder vampire. Lestate picked him up and tossed him into the wall. "But that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun first." The young nosferatu staggered to his feet and looked around for a weapon.

There! A two by four. Vamp-running to the plank Valentine reached for it and whirled around. Lestat smiled and shook his head. The pale teen rushed the vampire, plunging the flat end through the green haired man's stomach.

Lestat reached around tried to push the plank out. Valentine responded by shoving the implement deeper, through the base mint wall, impaling the other vampire. Feeling like he was safe and the situation taken care of, Valentine walked up the stairs. "Oh and Lestat?" The vampire called, pausing on the threshold. "I'll be sure to let the council know about your excursion with the fledgling."

In the graveyard

Henry laid Billy out on the ground, under a large sycamore tree. "Billy, I did it all for you." The teen was beginning to stir. He moaned fitfully. Dead leaves crunched on the grass. "Where the hell have you been!?" Henry's head jerked up. Raven towered over the pudgy teen, tapping a combat boot. "We we-""Save it, nerdling. Come on." The Goth girl attempted to pick Billy up. Henry hissed and bared his fangs. "No one's taking him away from me! He's mine!" Raven backed up, nervous. When had bills friend become a member of the club she'd ftied getting into for a year?

"I might be willing to make a bargain. Billy for you." Henry looked down at the sleeping boy in his arms, and back at Raven. "I've always looked up to you, Raven. Always thinking of you." The vampire reached out and tugged raven down onto the ground. "You're very beautiful, you know." Henry whispered, smiling. He leaned in, prepared to taste the older girl.

She barred her fangs. Henry's eyes widened. "You're a vampire? Hmm. So it was that moody hermit that turned you?" she nodded. The older girl held her hands out. "Give me my brother." "What can you give me in return?" The boy's eye's glitter. "That's enough you brat!" She lunged and scoped her brother up. With a final hiss in his direction, the Goth fled.

At Henry's house

Luna leaned over the armrest of the couch. Jagger paced the living room. "Imagine my disgust when a nasty little half breed, a council lap dog- calling me to come clean up my little brothers mess!" Jagged stopped and stared at his brother. "We warned you, Val. I'm sure we can work something out." Luna got up and strides over to the young vampire. Kneeling down to his level she said, "If this… pet you yours is really so special, we'll help you."

The vampire nodded. He led his siblings to the graveyard. The twins searched halfheartedly, drifting betwixt the stones and open graves. Valentine cried Billy's name frequently, growing more despondent with every instance the boy didn't answer. After a half an hour of not finding the lost mortal, the teen found his siblings. "You keep searching for him, I'll check his house."

The boy ran off without waiting for a response, tears coating his face. 'Please be there, please. I need to know you're safe.' Disappearing in a puff of smoke, finding his feet too slow, the green eyed teen morphed into a bat.

By the time Valentine reached the house, he had to stop to rest his wings. The window in Billy's room was lit. Shadows wavered behind the curtain. The little vampire raced up to the window, peeking over the edge.
