Chapter 6: Someone to Protect

Inuyasha kept looking at her new reflection, trying to find even a hint of her former self but it was all in vain. Oh, her skin was still sun kissed, but that's where it ended. Her hair was luxurious, reaching her waist, (which was fine by her because longer hair would've been a serious pain in the ass, not to mention the neck!) her hair was blue black peppered with silvery white. Her eyes were violet with burning gold sunburst. They were quite a sight. Her lips were full and a dark rose in color.

Her body was slender but strong. She was petite but that didn't bother her. It was an advantage on the battlefield. She noticed that her markings were violet like her eyes but there was something missing...no crescent! She was about to panic until she saw a hint of violet blended with gold under her shirt. She looked down and gasped. The crescent was over her heart with more markings, creating a natural necklace. They were also violet and gold blended together.

She was shaken awake from her daze when she heard a knock on her door. She opened the door to find a servant on the other side of it.

"Forgive me my Lady but Lord Sesshomaru wishes you to join him for a late lunch."

"Oh wow, I did lose track of time haven't I?" Inuyasha said sheepishly. "Ok, lead on..."

"If I may be a bit bold my Lady, do you think it wise to see him in your...um..." Again, Inuyasha was sheepish. "Let's get you ready." With that, they both returned to Inuyasha's room and prepared.

Sesshomaru and Dasai were already waiting on Inuyasha's arrival and although he didn't show it, Sesshomaru was upset with The Lord of the South's intentions for Inuyasha. Hell, The Lord of the West was pissed beyond the pits of hell.

"Sessho, leave your rage for your enemy, not your father's favorite chair!" Sesshomaru winced as he beheld the damage. The poison from his claws had burned acid holes into the armrests of the chair and cracking. He was about to say something but his words died in his throat as he beheld Inuyasha. She was dressed in a royal purple kimono with gold Sakura blossoms and trim. Her hair was held up with a beautiful rose gold comb that had an amethyst and moonstone blossom in the middle. She looked every inch the princess she was born to be. If Sesshomaru hadn't been raised properly, he would've ravished her then and there. She was enchanting...

"Hey, close your mouth you've got dog breath!" Inuyasha said. Sesshomaru was shaken out of his daze and snapped his mouth shut. Did she have to be so crass?

"Inuyasha, you look absolutely beautiful my dear." The Lord of the North said, escorting her to her seat. "Sessho wordlessly agrees with me I'm sure."

"Until she opens her mouth that is." The Lord of the West teased. "Then we all know the...YELP!" He whimpered and held his tail, checking it for injuries. Inuyasha innocently sipped her tea and didn't dare look at anyone. The Lord of the North smirked and chuckled. He knew what happened. She managed to step on his tail.

" Now, now, that's no way for a princess to behave."The Lord of the North chuckled. "But we do have a pressing matter to warn you about. You didn't meet him yet, but beware of The Lord of the South. His name is Rajuki. And he's..."

"An asshole." Inuyasha finished. Sesshomaru had to school his features at that one. His sister hit it in one. The Lord of the North nodded but continued.

"He wishes to court you."

"I'd rather get fucked by Naraku."

"Hold your tongue!" Sesshomaru ordered. His eyes were red and he looked dangerous. "You are spoken for and anyone who dares to interfere will paint the palace red with their lifeblood." Inuyasha and Dasai remained silent, not even daring to take a breath. In this state, Sesshomaru was more likely to kill first ask questions later. Their silence calmed the enraged Lord down and he went back to normal.

"Ok, no one better even fart around him right now." Inuyasha dared to whisper. "I think I'll take my leave..."

"Inuyasha, return to your seat, please." Sesshomaru ordered calmly. "There are matters to discuss, and although it angers me it must be dealt with. However, I implore you from making any other crude remarks about yourself. You are not a commoner, nor a whore. You are a Princess and a Lady. Rajuki will stop at nothing to have you for his own, even if it means trying to destroy me, which he stands no chance of doing."

"What if he tries to strike a deal with Naraku?"

"That is true Sessho, and he knows of Inuyasha's secret. What's worse, what if Naraku tries to persue her himself?" The Lord of the West remained silent, for what they said did bring up a valid argument. Naraku loved beauty and power and Inuyasha had both. She needed protection, even though she would object. Oh, Naraku wouldn't be able to enter the palace grounds without Sesshomaru's permission. In fact, no one would be able to. The only person who could override him, was long dead.

"Don't put it past him Aniki. Remember Kikyo?"

Again, Sesshomaru had to mentally swear. In truth, he did forget about the undead miko. She had been alive once but her remains were stolen and she was resurrected. Now, she had to feed on souls just to maintain herself. Honestly, she was not that different from Naraku.

Don't fret Sessho, do you honestly think I'd allow anyone steal my remains?

"'Anything is possible Father.'"

Have faith in me my son. All will be well, you'll see.

The trio ate in silence but Sesshomaru was thinking long and hard. He wanted to ensure that Inuyasha was safe. But everyone knew where to look, Naraku and Rajuki would try to invade the Western Palace, and although the invasion would be a failure, there would be causelties and Sesshomaru wasn't willing to put others at risk if it could be avoided. Then he looked at The Lord of the North.

"Dasai,"

"Don't even continue Sessho. We will leave in the morning." The Lord of the North said with finality. Inuyasha nodded and Sesshomaru called for two servants to pack for their departure. After that, he called for his Captain of the Guards and his Seward, leaving orders to maintain the palace in their absence and to inform him on all things. He wasn't taking any chances. Lastly, he summoned his mother, and told her to oversee everything, to act in his absence but she did nothing without his permission. Inuyasha watched and listened to everything Sesshomaru said and did and was curious. She followed him and after getting his attention, she asked the question.

"Why?"

Sesshomaru stopped and turned to look at her evenly. Inuyasha saw the look in his eyes and although the answer was clearly there, she wanted him to say it. He didn't disappoint her .

"Because I have someone to protect."
