HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Yeah, this isn't my best work and I gotta go to bed. I don't own A&A
What Ifs & Where's Austin
"Ally, calm down, I'm just going across the street," Austin said. He was going to the local grocery store in whatever-town-they-were-in to stock up on food for the bus.
"Alone? Austin, you're famous enough for a three-month national tour. What if you get bombarded by paparazzi? What if you get hit by a car on the way to the store? What if you get kidnapped?" Ally said, holding Austin's arm.
"Shh, you'll wake Trish and Dez," Austin said, putting a finger to Ally's lips. "I'll be fine, Als. I promise I'll come back. What's got you so worried?"
"I just got back from that buttercup bus," Ally shivered from the memory, "and we haven't even been together for twenty-four hours. Considering all that's happened, I don't really wanna let you outta my sight. You never know, you could end up in Japan or something."
"Please, I won't end up in Japan. Ally, I'll be gone for twenty minutes, tops. I think you can survive without me for that long."
"Well, I'm coming with you, just to be safe," Ally said.
"Oh, no you're not. I know you got no sleep during the three days you were with the buttercups, and you are marching your butt right back to bed," Austin told her sternly, pointing to the room with the bunks.
"Just 'cause you're a month older than me doesn't mean you need to be all condescending!" Ally told him. "I'm not a baby!"
"Ally, you're exhausted, and you know it. Please go back to sleep," Austin said gently, giving her puppy dog eyes.
"Fine," Ally relented. She trudged back to her bunk. "But please make sure you come back," she added, popping her head through the curtain separating the bunk area from the main area.
"I will, Als. Sweet dreams," Austin said. She nodded and watched Austin leave the bus. Then, she sighed, turned around, and got back in bed. She was sure she wasn't that tired, but she fell asleep right when her head hit the pillow.
After what felt like only seconds, she was awakened to the sound of a certain Latina shouting at a certain redhead in Spanish.
"I don't know what you're saying!" Dez shouted.
"Es inútil pedazo de basura! Yo te odio! Vaya salto en la parte delantera de un autobús o algo por el estilo, sólo consigue lejos de mí!" Trish exclaimed.
"Still don't know what you're saying! All I wanted was to brush my teeth, and now you're yelling and screaming at me in French! I'm not from Australia, I don't know your language!" Dez shouted back. Ally groaned and got out of bed to break up the fight.
"Dez," she said tiredly when she got to the main section of the bus, "Trish was speaking Spanish, and the native language of Australia is English, not French. Trish, quit yelling in Spanish and let the boy brush his teeth."
"Aliado, no puedo vivir con él nunca más. Es molesto y desagradable y no puedo tener tanto él como Austin, en el mismo tiempo, incluso con usted aquí. Dos meses solo con ellas se rompió, y-"
"No me importa! Vas a tener que vivir con ella!" Ally interrupted her.
"You speak Spanish?" Trish asked, switching back to English. Ally nodded.
"But that's not the point! The point is, you're stuck with the boys for another month, but I'm here now. I promise you'll survive. They're not that bad."
"I wouldn't be so sure," Trish muttered.
"Hey!" Dez exclaimed.
"What time is it?" Ally asked to change the subject. She knew Austin left at seven, and she wanted to know how long he'd been gone.
"Nine," Dez said, looking at his watch.
"Nine?" Ally said. "Austin should've been back by 7:20! He's still not here?"
"Nope. Where'd he go, anyway?" Trish said.
"To get groceries across the street. Do you think he's okay?" Ally said worriedly.
"I dunno, why don't you call him?" Trish suggested sarcastically, tossing Ally her phone.
"Oh, right." Ally hit number one on speed dial and waited anxiously for her friend to pick up the phone.
"Hey, Als. Everything okay?" Austin said as soon as he answered.
"I should be asking you! Where are you? You said you'd be gone twenty minutes!"
"Yeah, about that… Let's just say there was a… misunderstanding that involved a chicken, two wisdom teeth, and a truck."
"Huh?" Ally said.
"Long story short, I'm stuck in New Mexico until further notice," the blonde said.
"New Mexico?! Austin, the tour bus is in New York! How did you even-"
"Truck drivers don't follow any rules. Especially when they kidnap a popstar."
"Truck drivers kidnapped you?!" Ally screamed.
"Uh, did I say kidnap? I meant seize without permission. Oh, gotta go! Love ya, bye!" Austin exclaimed frantically, hanging up right after.
"How that boy manages to get himself into so much trouble, I will never know," Ally muttered to herself.
"Where is he?" Trish asked.
"New Mexico," Ally answered.
"How did he even-"
"Chicken, two wisdom teeth, and a truck?" Dez said, looking at Ally for clarification.
"How did you know that?" Ally asked in awe.
"I'm smart," Dez said cheerily.
"I beg to differ," Trish said. "Anyway, what are we gonna do? Austin's in another state again, and he has a concert tonight!"
"De-já vu," Ally said.
"How is he gonna get back?" Trish asked. "This is stressing me out."
"I have no idea," Ally replied. "I guess all we can do is wait and make sure Austin's okay."
"Speaking of, I have some yelling to do at that boy," Trish grumbled. She grabbed Ally's phone (she was too lazy to get hers) and called Austin.
"I meant it platonically, I promise!" Austin said when he answered.
"Huh?" Trish said, confused.
"When I said 'love ya' when you called last, I meant it platonically. I don't actually- I mean, I might kinda-"
"You said you loved her?!" Trish exclaimed.
"Trish?" Austin asked in surprise. "What are you doing on Ally's phone?"
"I didn't feel like grabbing mine. Anyway, we'll talk about you loving my best friend later-"
"I meant it pla-"
"Yeah, yeah," Trish said, rolling her eyes. "What I wanna know is HOW ON EARTH DID YOU END UP IN NEW MEXICO?" she screamed.
"Long story that involves a-"
"I know about the chicken! Would you like to explain what the story is?"
"No thanks," Austin said.
"Listen, Moon, if you're late to another concert, I'll make sure you won't even be able to blink without yelling out in pain," Trish threatened.
"I'll be there!" Austin squeaked nervously.
Ally, who had been listening as Trish talked to Austin on speaker, finally spoke.
"Promise me you'll be here before the show."
"I promise, Als," Austin told her. Ally nodded.
"Austin, where did you even find the truck driver's wisdom teeth?" Dez asked.
"I'd rather not relive it. I gotta go. I'm about to hitchhike-which, by the way, Ally, you should never do. It's literally the most dangerous thing ever," Austin said.
"I'm not your daughter," Ally said angrily. "No need to be all protective."
"Sorry, I just really don't want you to do anything-"
"Austin…" Ally warned.
"Right, not protective, sorry. Anyway, talk to you guys later. Wish me luck that I won't get kidnapped again. Bye!" With that, Austin-who seemed to be way too cheery for the situation-hung up the phone.
"Austin is so weird," Dez commented. Trish rolled her eyes.
"Guys, what if Austin gets seriously hurt? He shouldn't be hitch-hiking! What if some criminal takes him and kills him? He can't die!" Ally said worriedly.
"What if he gets hit by a bus?" Trish said.
"What if the chicken eats him?!" Dez screamed, receiving strange looks from the girls. "What? It happened to my goldfish! Poor Roberto…"
"We have to just believe he'll be okay," Trish decided. "I mean, he's Austin Moon. What could go wrong?" After a moment of silence, she and Ally looked at each other nervously.
"If all else fails, he wouldn't break a promise to you, Ally," Dez said. "He'll be back for you if nothing else." Ally nodded, trying to get her heavy breathing back to normal.
"Stressing-Stressing won't help anything," she stuttered, obviously still stressed and nervous.
"You're right. We need to calm down and try to forget about him for a while," Trish added.
"Well, I don't think we should forget-" Ally started.
"It's the best thing to do," Trish interrupted. Ally sighed and nodded.
To get their minds off of Austin, the threesome played a bunch of board games. When they played Monopoly, Ally sighed.
"Austin-"
"He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named," Trish corrected her, still trying to keep her mind off of the blonde. Hey, just because she got annoyed with him and yelled at him, didn't mean he wasn't a close friend that she cared about. She was genuinely worried about him.
"He's our friend, not Voldemort,"Ally said. "Anyway, he loves this game. We always play where if he lands on 'Free Parking,' he gets a pancake, and if I land on it, I get a pickle," she continued, sighing again.
"He's lost, not dead," Dez remarked. "You're talking about him as if he died. He'll be back before tonight."
"Unless he gets hurt, or kidnapped again, or killed!" Trish argued. She looked at Ally, who was beginning to hyperventilate again. "I mean, you're right Dez. I keep forgetting that we have nothing to worry about." Dez nodded in agreement.
The three friends continued playing games until the bus driver told them it was time to go to the concert. Ally decided to call Austin.
"C'mon, please pick up and be okay," Ally muttered.
"Hey," Austin whispered when he answered.
"Austin," Ally breathed in relief. "You're okay. Where are you? The concert starts in an hour."
"I'm almost there, I promise," the blonde replied. Ally heard some yelling, followed by a quick apology from Austin.
"You better be. We're all worried sick! Don't die on us." Austin chuckled.
"I won't die on you… Most likely. Anyway, when I get there, don't let my-AH!" Austin yelled. The line went dead.
"Austin?" Ally said, getting worried. "Austin, if this is a prank, I'm not laughing! Austin, answer me right now! Austin!" she yelled, getting desperate.
Trish grabbed the phone from Ally's hand. "Ally, he hung up," she said, looking at the phone.
"In the middle of a sentence? And he screamed before hanging up? Trish, I don't think he hung up on purpose," Ally replied. Trish shrugged.
"You never know. He's a weird kid," Trish remarked.
"I don't think-"
"Guys!" Dez shouted. "What have you been saying for the past two hours?"
"Don't think about Austin," Ally said. "Well, I'm calling him again." She called him again, but it went straight to voicemail. "Voicemail," she said, ending the call.
"The concert starts in," Trish looked at the clock, "half an hour, and he's still not back. We need to think about Austin because he's gonna be late for his show! Again!" she shouted.
"I'm here, I'm here, I'm-There you guys are!" Austin shouted, running into the room his three friends were in.
"You're here!" Dez exclaimed.
"You're late!" Trish scolded.
"You're alive!" Ally screamed, jumping in the blonde's arms. He stumbled back in surprise and had to brace himself on a table, but he wrapped his other arm around Ally's waist.
"I made a promise, didn't I?" Austin said. Ally nodded, her face still buried in his shoulder. Austin realized his shirt was getting wet. "Als, are you crying?" They pulled apart. Ally sniffled and wiped her eyes. "What's wrong?"
"I didn't know if you were gonna come back or not! And when the line went dead-"
"Oh, the lady who let me hitch-hike hated technology. She threw my phone out the window and I yelled 'cause I was surprised," the blonde explained.
"Don't you dare do that to me ever again!" Ally yelled, hitting Austin with every word.
"I'm sorry," Austin said genuinely. "I had no idea mean truck drivers would kidnap me for moving a few wisdom teeth and make me sing for a chicken."
"Huh?" Ally said.
"I'll tell you the whole story later," he replied.
"Uh, I hate to ruin the moment for, like, the fourth time, but Austin kinda needs to perform… Glad to have you back, by the way," Trish said. Austin nodded.
"Welcome back, buddy," Dez said, a little late.
"Thanks, Dez," Austin said, chuckling. "Well, I guess I better go. Talk to you guys after the show!" He waved and headed for the stairs that led to the stage.
"Austin, wait!" Ally said, grabbing his arm. He turned around with a confused look on his face. Ally looked at Trish and Dez and dragged Austin to the far corner of the room.
"Everything okay?" the blonde asked.
"Yeah, everything's fine. I-uh-just wanted to…" she trailed off. "Okay, so you know how they say, like, 'distance makes the heart grow fonder' or something like that?"
"I guess," Austin said.
"Okay, so I realized… I realized that that happened, while you were gone. When I thought you wouldn't come back, I thought about how, if you really didn't come back, there were so many things left unsaid. And I realized that…" she sighed, "that… That I-"
"I think I get what you're trying to say," Austin said. "If I'm wrong, well, things are about to get really awkward." With that, he leaned in and kissed Ally. It was slow and gentle, and all too soon they pulled away.
"You were right," Ally told him, smiling.
"Thank goodness," Austin breathed. "Well, this is a really bad time to go, but I kinda have to perform. But the minute I get off stage, we're talking about what this means for us." He smiled and ran onstage.
"Hey….. Uh…. One sec!" the blonde shouted. He ran to the side of the stage. "Where are we?" he asked, covering his microphone.
"New York!" Dez said. Austin gave him a thumbs up and ran back to the middle of the stage.
"New York, you ready to party?" he yelled. The crowd screamed. "This concert is dedicated to my hopefully new old girlfriend." He looked at Ally for clarification. She grinned and nodded. "Yup, my new old girlfriend," he said, smiling.
Austin went through the concert perfectly. After two hours of singing and dancing, the blonde said goodnight to the crowd and jogged offstage, only to be tackled in a tight hug. Again.
"Someday you'll hug me, Als, and my neck will snap right in half," he said, wrapping his arms around her petite waist.
"Luckily, that day is not today," she replied, pulling away from the hug. "So, new old girlfriend, huh?" He nodded.
"But you can only be my new old girlfriend if I can be your new old boyfriend."
"That was way too cheesy. I have to say no," Ally said. She giggled when she saw Austin's face. "I'm joking, calm down. I would love for you to be my new old boyfriend."
"It's settled then," Austin said happily, kissing his new old girlfriend.
"They're together again, woo hoo, now can we please get on the bus and go to sleep? I'm exhausted," Trish said. Dez nodded in agreement. Austin and Ally pulled away from their kiss, rolling their eyes at their friends.
"I'm tired, too," Ally said. "Stressing about you all day really takes a lot out of a person," she said to Austin.
"You think you guys are tired? I had to walk thirty miles, wrestle a chicken, get beat up by a truck driver, and then listen to an old lady sing opera for eight hours," Austin said.
"First thing in the morning, you're telling us that story," Ally demanded.
"Yes, ma'am," Austin said, saluting. He threw an arm around his girlfriend as the four friends made their way to the bus.
Ugh, I don't like the ending at all. I was just kinda DONE with this one. I dunno, it just doesn't look like a very good ep to me. I mean, I know about the Auslly and Trez and stuff but idk I just don't think it'll be one of my favorites. Anywhoozles, if you liked the story, put TRUCK DRIVER in a review. If you kinda liked it, put CHICKEN in a review. If you hated it, put WISDOM TEETH in a review. Also, tell me what you were for Halloween if ya feel like it! ;) Thanks for reading and please review! Love you all more than candy!
