"C'mon Dipper spit it out," Mabel whined impatiently. She felt like she'd been waiting three months to get her answer and Mabel wasn't exactly a patient girl (most of the time.).
Dipper frowned trying to find a right way to explain what exactly he had found even though he wasn't particularly sure himself. He bit his lip. Man, this was hard. No wonder Immpossible got writers block all the time. "Erm, we found…Oh! For the love of—" he thrust the book out for her to take. "Just look at it!"
Mabel raised an eyebrow and took it. "Is this another one of your nerdy sci-fi books or whatever? 'Cause I'm only interested in stuff like vampire and werewolf romance novels." Billie made a face at that. She had read one of those once and hated it. Mabel didn't notice.
Dipper scoffed, "First of all, they're not nerdy and second of all, this is important, and third, your books suck. Just read it." Mabel stuck out her tongue and opened the book. She skimmed through a few pages and read a little bit. Her eyes widened.
"Whoa…!" she breathed and looked up. Dipper smirked, his expression practically screaming 'I told you so'. The smirked quickly melted into an excited grin.
"I know! I was hanging up those signs Stan gave me when I came a across Billie and…" he trailed off and looked at Billie. "You explain!"
Billie frowned. "Okay…Well, like he said, he met me and we talked a little, and when I was going to get up and leave my elbow hit the tree…" she paused for a moment to rub her elbow where a bruise was already starting to appear. She hadn't shown it, but it had really hurt. "And it sounded as if I had just hit metal. After looking around we discovered a secret door in the supposed "tree" and, well, one thing lead to another and we found that book!" It wasn't a very good explanation but it'd have to do. Besides, it's not like she was supposed to have some amazingly detailed description of what exactly happened written down and in her pocket.
Dipper nodded along. He walked besides Mabel and turned to the middle of the book. "And see here, the writer of the book seems to have just stopped, right here!" he grinned. "But the whole book tells about Gravity Falls' dark side!" Mabel nodded.
She hesitated, before asking, "Does it talk about gnomes?" Dipper thought for a moment.
"Yeah I think I saw a page about them. How'd you know?"
Mabel grinned, "I have a few stories of my own."
"…And so I decided I'd dedicate an entire sweater to my trusty leaf blower!" Mabel finished. "I didn't tell you because I knew you wouldn't believe me." The three sat in a circle on the floor. Dipper and Billie had been listening intently to Mabel's story. "The only evidence I had that it actually happened was one of the gnomes' beard hair! I still have it somewhere."
"You kept gnome beard hair?" Billie raised an eyebrow.
Mabel grinned, "Yup!"
Billie shrugged. "Fair enough." She frowned. "Wait…what do we do with this information? Tell someone?"
"Of course not!" the twins exclaimed. Billie jumped a little.
"No one would believe us!" Dipper exclaimed. "They'd probably just say something about us kids being too gullible or something! Or worse they'd play along with us like an adult with a child who still believes in Santa and how awful would that be?" He wrinkled his nose. "Besides, what if someone tried to take the book?" Billie nodded.
"Yeah, I get it. But what do we do with this?" She gestured at the book. The three gave a small 'hmm'.
"Well, I say we read more about this. Then we can decide what we actually want to do," Dipper shrugged. "I dunno about you guys, but I wanna read more about this." Mabel raised an eyebrow at that. Dipper seemed…different. She couldn't quite place her finger on it but this wasn't how he usually acted, that's for sure. She shrugged it off.
"Sounds like a good idea!"
"Well…shall we get started then?" Billie suggested, turning back to the first page and adjusting the book so everyone could see.
"That was…a tad more descriptive than what I would have liked…" Billie mumbled, starring down at a page describing a creature known as the 'Barf Fairy'. Dipper looked queasy.
"Yeah…"
"Well, I for one think that's come in handy!" Mabel said, though she too looked mildly disturbed. Billie frowned suddenly.
"Hey, does anyone know what time it is?" she asked. Dipper looked down at his wrist watch.
"It's 11:30."
Billie's eyes widened, she had been gone for about thirty minutes! Her parents must be worried sick. Or angry. Probably both! "Hey guys, I gotta go. My parents must be worried sick! I mean, we just got here and all so…" Her face was slowly turning pink.
"No thats cool," Dipper said, nodding. Billie stumbled up and stared at them awkwardly.
"Um, thanks. W-well, uh, bye," she stammered. Mabel grinned.
"Come back soon, 'kay?"
"Uh, okay." She nodded and quickly ran out of the house, her boots stomping on the ground. Finally, after a lot of running, she made it back to her new house. She quickly flung open the door. "Mom! Dad!"
"BILLIE ROSEWOOD!" her mother's voice boomed angrily. She stomped into the room, fuming. Billie flinched. "JUST WHERE, HAVE YOU BEEN?!"
"Sorry mom…"
The twins sat in their beds, Mabel admiring a sweater she had been working on and was almost done with. "Hey, Dipper, whaddaya think of my sweater so far?" she asked, grinning and holding it up to show him. Dipper grunted, immersed in his book, and looked up.
"Hey, looks great!" he said, somewhat absently. Mabel grinned.
"I know, right? See, I'm planning on adding some glitter here and some more here and all the colors are gonna make it look like a real sunset, but, ya know, even more pretty with the glitter if that's even possible…And if been working on the clouds and they look a-maaaz-ing…!" she rambled. Dipper half-listened, focused on a somewhat interesting section in the book, which he and Mabel had continued to read after Billie had left, until it had gotten late (and Stan coming in, causing them to have to hide the book and pretend they were having a heated debate about the pro's and con's of owning an alpaca and, well, you can imagine how that went…). Mabel's rambles were interrupted by a huge yawn.
"Ah, it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed…" She stifled another yawn. Dipper nodded.
"Cool, night Mabes…" He turned and smiled at her. Mabel returned the smile with a lopsided grin and flopped down onto her bed, shoving her sweater supplies under her bed and tugging her blankets over her head. Dipper returned to reading.
"Oh wow…" he muttered to himself, snapping his fingers. Mabel, over course, heard him and gave a huff of annoyance. It was obvious he was going to be doing this all night, probably keeping her up.
Dipper squinted at a small, particularly messy, and obviously hastily written sentence underlined in red. He frowned and muttered it to himself, or at least, he thought it was to himself. Mabel could hear every word.
"What is this? Latin?" he mused. After a moment of thought he shrugged and closed the book, laying down in bed and rolling on his side. Mabel sighed, finally, she could sleep. She closed her eyes and both of the twins drifted off into sleep.
Dipper shifted a little and he book slid off the bed, landing on the ground with a soft thud. It landed open and the pages seemed to flutter to the page Dipper had been reading, seeming to have been blown by an invisible wind. Below the sentence underlined in red was a sentence Dipper hadn't noticed. It said:
"Incantation must be spoken clearly, or effects will stretch out to a few days and will be shown in choppy fragments…"

Whoo I've got big plans for this story. Heh, yeah...Buuuut for now, not much went on and this was basically just a filler.
