Months passed, Star started to feel a bit weak each day while his cell pony was growing stronger than before. His faith started to die down and his mind started to change. Though he was trying to share his kindness as before, it started to weaken. One stormy night, however, Star started to snap his hatred towards Celestia.
"Oh Celestia! Why?! Why are you doing this to me?! Do you hear me?!"
The pony had woken up from his rest and noticed Star Shine climbing on towards the window with his hooves. While he spoke his hatred, some of the stones that he was stepping on were starting to fall apart.
"Any kindness you give is taken away! I don't understand this! The gift you give me are all just lies! What do I do to deserve this?!"
As he shook his hoof in the sky, his back hoof started to slip, allowing him to fall towards the ground. With such force, his wings were broken and was out cold. As he laid there lightly, his sleeping body started to enter in a different world.
"Where... Where am I?"
"In a place where your answers are clear."
He glanced towards the side and noticed a white alicorn with a colorful mane flowing. In such fear, he knelt lightly.
"You...you are-"
"No need for fear. I have seen your frustration."
"You... you have?"
"Of course I have. I understand why you have felt hatred towards me. You wanted to go home and see your family, is this true?"
"Yes..."
"Walk with me. I'll explain to you why."
As he rose, Shine came near the princess. While they walked, she discussed her reason: he is the key to save everyone from danger coming. If he were to stay home, then all would be lost. She had chosen him to this destiny since birth and cannot be changed. He then stood there thinking as Celestia continued moving. Could things be different if he were to remain home, not here in prison?
"With this matter," she continued, " Luna wants to show you the vision that only you can understand. My work is done."
"Wait." he called out.
She turned aside to see him one last time.
"If you didn't make your choice to use me, would things be different in the end?"
"I cannot say if things would change, but I do know if you did not meet those two ponies, you would not have your dream come true."
"My dream?"
He then recalled the dream from before: the dream on his birthday. As he prepared to ask again, Celestia was out of sight. Instead, he was standing in the land of Chaos. With that, he saw Ocean walking towards the Chocolate Nile. As he followed her, Shine recognized seven different manticores, healthy and strong roaming the riverside. Suddenly, he felt a gust of wind and seven parasprites went towards the manticores and swallowed them whole, but they still remain the same as before.
"What happened to them?" he asked.
Expecting a response from Luna, the dream he stood started to change quickly under his hooves. He then ended up at seven different fields of unimaginable foods where most of the slaves would pick every year. However, seven different tall skinny rabbits started to go towards the foods and started to swallow them, but they became the same as before.
"This doesn't make any sense." he answered as the dream started to fade away. "Why would I answer these dreams?"
"Because that is what your special talent is." Luna responded suddenly.
He then turned aside and noticed Luna coming near him.
"Your cutie mark symbolizes your ability to guide others towards their destiny."
"Destiny?"
"Yes. Do you recall about the dreams of the two ponies had before and you answered them on your own?"
"Yes, but it was with your help, Luna." Shine mentioned.
"That may be, however, you assured them that their paths will not be in vain and brought them hope."
"Then why? Why hasn't my dream been fulfilled?"
"Because you haven't reached your dream as of yet. However, it shall come to pass."
She then started to fade away from Shine's vision.
"W-Wait, I still have more questions."
"The answers you seek is in those dreams." Luna replied as she was out of his sight.
With that matter, he started to wake up slowly, but was too weak to move. Suddenly, he noticed the pony laying beside him, making sure to keep him steady.
"Oh, you're awake." he replied, "I was beginning to worry about you."
"You...were worried?"
"Of course. You cared about me when I first came here, now let me repay the favor by helping you."
"Th-thank you."
He started to get up, but his legs became wobbly that Shine started to fall down. The pony quickly held him on the side with his wings and kept him steady. Though the pony never gave him his name, he assured Shine that the name would not be necessary for the moment. Months passed as they both started to grow stronger than ever before. Shine, who still pondered the dreams, finally stood on his own two feet and walked lightly. Though his wings were broken, the pony tried to help him fly as strong as he could. Even though it was painful, Shine knew he had to keep going until he can fly towards the sky. One night, however, as Shine started to fall asleep, he then realized what the dream meant.
"You sure that is what it is?" the pony asked as they both prepared to sleep.
"Yes. If no pony finds a way to stop it, then it will be too late."
"Ok. So, what will we do?"
"We'll find out tomorrow." he yawned lightly. "Good night, friend."
Unfortunately, the pony in question stood up from his place and laid the blanket on Shine.
"Good night, Star Shine..." whispered the pony.
At that moment, the pony disappeared out of sight, allowing him to face the solution on his own.
