Hello my dearest!
First of all. Sorry. SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! I know a lifetime passed since the last update but November was quite hectic! My mom's 50th birthday, a Spanish exam, I brought 'The fault in our stars'(which I already read 7/8 times and seriously, if anyone wants to talk about it with me, feel free to write me a DM because it's SO GOOD! Thank God for John Green!) and my best friend graduated from University and I had to organize the celebration party. So I had like no time at all for writing. Again, I'm SO sorry!
Thank you to anyone of you who took their time to leave a review. I love you so much it's insane. You are really incredible and I thank God for you every day! You absolutely rock!
In this chapter, I pretend that the beautiful "From where you are" by Lifehouse is written by Noah. Just go with the flow.
Hope you will like this chapter as well! I'm looking forward to reading your opinions about it!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything. Sadly.
How on earth did she end up crying her big, brown eyes out, lying on her bed in one of her boyfriend's shirts and clutching a pillow as if it might save her life, only 4 days after her first ultrasound?
Easy.
Only a few days before her run as Éponine ended.
She didn't regret her decision but it was like closing an amazing chapter of her life. Like saying goodbye to one of her dearest friend.
Big, fat tears rolled down her cheeks as she recalled what happened that night.
She remembered how the crowd, right after her last song, erupted in a 5-minute standing ovation. She couldn't be able to witness that because her character was dead at that point and her eyes were closed but she distinctively remembered the shiver that that sound sent down her spine. The goosebumps that that sound provoked on her skin. And how her Marius, while still pretending to cry for her death, murmured "It's all for you, little Rachel", while a couple of tears found their way down her cheeks.
But, even if she missed that one, she saw the other standing ovation that the crowd gave her at the end of the show as she stood in the middle of the stage, her castmates behind her, clapping just as loud.
She remembered how proud of herself she felt as she sobbed and bowed.
How listening to the distinctive whistles of Kurt and the cheers and expletives from Santana among the public made her cry even harder, happy to know that her dads, Noah's mother and sister and her dearest friends were all there and just as proud of her as she was.
And how stupid she felt because she couldn't bring herself to say anything but "Thank you", her voice breaking and new tears forming every time she tried to say something more.
But, most of all, she remembered the surprise of seeing every surface of her changing room covered in flowers once she managed to make her way back there.
Gavroche, the costume designer (and yes, he liked to tell everyone that he was bound to that show, given his name) came up to her, smiling gently as he passed her a small envelope and told her "He made us promise to set this up after the show and to give you this. I know he would kick my butt for saying this but... He really is a sweetheart. You two are just the cutest."
Well, how could she disagree with that?
So she smiled and giggled "I know. I'm a very lucky woman." She stepped in her changing room and, carefully, moved some compositions in order to sit down and read what he had written to her.
"I'm fucking proud of you, babe. You're the best thing to ever happened to me and I swear I'll make it up to you for not being with you tonight. I love you, my Caroline. N."
She was able to thank him for the beautiful flowers only the following day (since he had a gig the same night of her closing show) and, sadly, she had only a few minutes alone with him because her dads wanted to say hi to him and Finn as well. And the same went the day after. As soon as she took her dads to the airport to catch their flight back to Ohio, Sarah and Becca kidnapped her and, when he Skyped her later that day, they were still with her and wanting to talk to him.
She loved her family (and extended one) greatly but she really wanted to talk to him. Alone. And due to the different time zone, their families and her exhaustion (really... who knew that being 2 months along would be that tiring?!) that was not possible.
It was until the next morning that she felt like coming undone.
Sarah and Becca left earlier that morning for Boston. Her fathers were safe and sound back in Ohio. Her friends came back to their normal daily life.
Now she was alone.
Completely alone. (Well, not completely... since their little 'berry' - Noah started to call their baby like that since the ultrasound and Rachel couldn't help but finding that really, really sweet - was always with her.)
Without a job.
And without 'Chubby Hubby' Ben&Jerry's Ice Cream in her freezer.
So she cried. A lot.
She only left her bed when the morning sickness kicked in. Let's just say that she found herself being miserable while hugging the white, cold porcelain of her toilet. She might had cried a little harder for that.
Then she moved to the kitchen, where she found herself being miserable while sitting on a chair and forcing herself to eat something (her OB/GYN told her that putting something in her belly regularly helped keeping the morning sickness to a minimum. It only started a few days before but it was already driving Rachel crazy so if eating something every now and then was the key to make it stop so be it!).
She was still miserable as she read the wonderful tweets her followers and fans sent her and the articles about her last performance as Éponine. They all were enthusiastic, telling that that was one of her greatest performance and that the actress that will substitute her would have to do one hell of a job to even try to top one of her worst one.
Of course, as soon as she read 'substitute' she cried a little bit harder.
Did she already told you that she was miserable?!
Damn hormones, damn California, damn time zone difference and damn Ben&Jerry's.
She was still crying when a chirp came from her phone, signalling a Twitter notification.
Rachel was not one to sign up to receive notification about other users tweets but she made exception for her closest friends and Barbra Streisand (who she actually considered a close friend of hers, of course!).
She smiled tiredly when she saw that the notification came from the Twitter page of Noah, Finn and Sams's band. Her smile grew even bigger when she saw that it was directed to her.
" /GhostRider114Music: /msrachelberry Special song for a special someone. " and a YouTube video's link attached.
She grabbed the laptop and, after log in, she clicked on the link and actually squealed when it leaded her to a video in the band's YouTube channel title "From Where You Are - Live" and the date of the performance. The video was recorded the same day of her closing show.
She settled herself under the duvet and wiggled against the pillows. She was about to press lay when she catch a glimpse of an unused Kleenex box. She quickly grabbed it and clutched it against her chest.
She already finished 4 of it. And, from the title of the video, she would need it. Forgive her for being provident.
She clicked 'Play' and turn all her attention towards the video.
The last chords of the previous song were drown out by the enthusiastic cheers and hollers of the crowd.
Noah laughed out loud before clapping Sam on his shoulder and walking towards his mic, saying to the people in front of him "Whoa! You're fucking awesome, guys!"
A glimpse from another point of view showed that the club was packed. (Rachel was so proud of her boys! And she knew Artie helped out the guys recording and editing their shows. And this video was absolutely stunning under every point of view so she took a mental note to praise her friend for his beautiful job.)
Noah smiled as he put his electric guitar down and grabbed his beloved acoustic one.
He smiled as he looked at the crowd in front of him and passed his forearm on his forehead, trying to wipe away some of the sweat that covered his face.
A voice from the audience yelled out "I love you!". Puck laughed loudly at that, shaking his head in disbelieve and closing his eyes as if he couldn't actually believe that all that was really happening to him.
Noah opened his eyes and plucked some strings, playing a sweet, almost sad, melody.
Sam smiled at him while Finn sat a little bit straighter behind the drum set, smiling as well and looking down at the drums.
"So, the next song is basically the first song I have written here in California. I was talking with my girl back home and... Lyrics just popped up in my head, you know? Tonight is a pretty big night for her so I want to play this song for the first time and let her know that I'm fucking proud of her. She's like the best think to have ever walked on earth and, without her, me and the guys would have never put together this band and you wouldn't be here tonight listening to our awesome jam so... That's it. That's for my Rach" Noah explained.
The crowd hollered in appreciation and, right after, it quieted down when Noah started playing. It didn't take long for him to sing softly
"So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you, yeah, I miss you
So far away from where you are
And standing underneath the stars
And I wish you were here"
He smiled and he closed his eyes as he sang the chorus, as if he was picturing her in his mind (If Rachel hadn't already been crying since she heard his dedication for her, she would definitely be crying by the image in front of her)
"I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they'd mean everything to me
Yeah, I miss you and I wish you were here
I feel the beating of your heart
I see the shadows of your face
Just know that wherever you are
Yeah, I miss you and I wish you were here
I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they'd mean everything to me
Yeah, I miss you and I wish you were here
So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you, yeah, I miss you
And I wish you were here"
The crowd went nuts as soon as the song ended, marking the end of the video as well.
The petite woman was crying a river as she blew loudly her red, blotchy nose. She took a good look around, wrinkling her nose at the sea of used Kleenex around her.
Of course, she retweeted the original tweet and added "And just when I think I can't love him more... RT /GhostRider114Music [...]"
Right after she just laid there, still sobbing while staring at the picture of the two of them at Mercedes and Artie's wedding but suddenly the tears stopped and she sat up straighter, flying out of her bed.
She didn't have any business in the city that held her there and she was tired to be so far from him. She couldn't and wouldn't wait any longer.
So she called her ON/GYN, her agent and her friends as she booked a ticket to LA for the next available flight.
She wouldn't stay another minute without her amazing man!
Only two days after, Rachel found herself sitting in a yellow cab driven by an adorable Sikh man, alongside with Quinn and Marley (who decided to tag along as soon as the Jewish girl informed them of her plan).
It was quite early in the sunny Los Angeles. The sky was coloured in a beautiful, intense blue with just a splash of orange on the horizon. No cloud could be seen on it. People were already walking around, light clothes on. It looked like a completely different world from New York where she still walked around in sweater or in a light coat.
Bishanpal, their taxi driver, was talking their hear off about the "greatness of the great state of California" while gushing about his children who were about to graduate from college and high school. Rachel found his happiness very cute so she kept asking him questions about his family while Quinn and Marley were talking between them.
"STOP RIGHT HERE!" Rachel yelled, making Bishanpal slam on the brakes. "What is wrong, little lady?!" he questioned, terror in his eyes while he looked around trying to figure out what was the matter. Did he miss a stop? Was another car about to smash against his taxi? Was he about to hit someone?
Rachel pointed towards a direction and, very candidly, stated "We should stop to buy donuts for the guys".
Bishanpal wasn't very happy that she just screamed, scaring the ever loving hell out of him, just to buy a donuts.
Rachel bought him a glazed donut to make up for it. He forgave her after that and even let her eat her chocolate peanut butter cream donut in his taxi, no matter the crumble that fell from the treat down to the seat.
As she ate her own donut, she felt like she needed anything else in the whole world. She was craving donuts since she was on the plane and she seized the moment as soon as she saw a Dunkin' Donuts. Quinn and Marley just thought she was very considerate and really wanted to buy them for the guys so they didn't question her choice any further.
Holding her pregnancy back from her friends was actually quite easy that far. The only problem was with Santana, who couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Rachel's boobs grew so much. Even when she tried to tell her that the growth was caused by the pill that she was still taking for her "exhaustion problem", the Latina didn't really believe her and told her "If I knew those pills were able to turn a couple of fucking pimples into two watermelon then I wouldn't spend a thousand bajillion dollars into her babies".
Then Rachel called her out for being crass and impolite and for acting not lady-like, making Santana tune her out and ending the conversation about the size of the brown-eyed girl's breast. Thank God.
Quite soon, Bishanpal dropped them in front of a quite big building and helped them with their luggage. Rachel was quite sad to let him go but, after mourning the loss of a new friend, the threesome looked at one another and they marched into the building, dragging their trolley right after them.
They were women on a mission: finding their boyfriend apartment.
It took exactly 7 minutes and 27 seconds for the girls to find it.
Rachel knocked on the door quickly. When she heard nothing from the other side of the door, she grabbed Quinn's wrist and checked the time on her clock. 8.15 am. The guys should already be up, getting ready for their day.
Her eyes fell on the Dunkin' Donuts' box that Marley was holding and knocked louder and faster. Rachel needed another donut. And she needed it NOW but she refused to eat another one until she was in the boys' apartment.
After another series of knocks, the door flew open.
"Mrs Ginley, we are not holding in hostage your cat. He ran away. He'll come back eventually. But you can't come here every morning and just bitch about it. Please. I was sleeping so well!" a very tired Sam appeared in front of the girls, his eyes still closed as he leaned against the door and wearing just his pants.
Rachel and Marley smiled at Quinn as she said "I think Mrs Ginley doesn't come here just to ask about her cat if you open the door in just your pants every time".
The Jewish girl couldn't help but laugh at how quick Sam's eyes shot open. The blonde guy glanced quickly at the two brunettes before launching himself against his girlfriend and spinning her around, leaving pecks on her neck, shoulder and face. "Q, are you real?!" he asked all sweet and Rachel was about to cry just because they were absolutely adorable as Quinn nodded and kissed his sweetly on his large lips.
She moved only when Marley grabbed her by the elbow and dragged her in the apartment.
As soon as the blue-eyed girl put the box of donuts on the table, Rachel grabbed another one and started to nibble at it. Marley giggled as she grabbed one as well and wondered "What about now?".
The petite brunette grabbed her brother's hand (with the hand who wasn't holding on the donut) and leaded her down the hallway where there were only two doors close.
"Which one is whose?" Rachel wondered, opened up the first one and sneaking a peek of it. She could see her beloved brother sleeping soundly, all curled up and hugging a pillow.
Rachel mouthed to Marley "Finn's" and pushed her in with delicacy.
After that, the Jewish girl opened the other door, right before disappearing behind it.
This is it for chapter 6! What do you guys think? Let me know by writing your opinion in that cute white box below!
