Rendezvous: A Vocaloid Fanfiction (Chapter 6)
Written by Kairu Kobayashi
I thoughtlessly wandered into someone else's garden. The scent of cherry blossoms falling from the trees filled the air as I walked on the pathway that I've never met before.
Dad told me I'm getting married to someone, but not right now. Maybe when we reach 21. When I asked him why, he only said it was for my own good. He refused to explain what kind of 'good' was it for.
It was dead curious, so I kept on asking.
Until angrily he spoke up. He said that our company, ICL, will be much more successful if it merges with another company.
I only came along because I wanted to be with Dad, but now he's telling me I'm getting married to someone I don't know even if he tells me not to talk to strangers. Yup, he's crazy. Besides, it's done out of work-related matters! He works non-stop, rarely goes home, and now, this?
All I could do is run away, run away, run away.
And I arrived in a paradise of cherry blossom trees.
The pathway was straight and was completely covered with white petals. It seemed as if it was an aisle marched on during white weddings at churches—only if the flower girls tossed too much.
"Weddings, weddings, weddings," I pouted.
Are people supposed to look for their brides and grooms at age 7? I don't think so.
7 times 3 is 21. So before I get married 7 must be added to my age 7 times. 7 times 2 is 14, 14 years to go before I get married.
All I could do is to wish for something and wait.
"I hope that my fiancée is a cute and smart girl who has incredible cooking skills like Mom!" I screamed and it echoed back.
"What are you doing?"
It was an unfamiliar voice.
"You're disturbing them."
Disturbing who? I got puzzled, but I just turned to the direction where the voice came from. A boy with blue hair who seems to be of the same age as me, was standing beside a cherry blossom tree.
"Disturbing who? And who are you? What are you doing in here?" I folded my arms.
"The cherry blossom trees." the boy answered, straight-faced.
"You haven't answered all my questions yet," I sighed. Well, I guess this dude isn't really the sociable type.
"Shion Kaito. This is our garden."
G-garden...you mean...
"Your family owns Yamaha?!" my eyes widened. Yamaha is a very large company that specializes in music stuff. ICL, on the other hand, is a talent agency. The people of ICL need the equipment Yamaha makes.
"Y-yes, my family owns it," the kid nodded.
So...I'm supposed to get married to a sister of his, then?
"Then, say...is your sister cute?" I ran to him and whispered, but three question marks seemed to appear above his head.
"Pardon?"
"What do you mean by that?" I raised an eyebrow. "I was told that I am to be married to a child of your family. Then there has to be a female child, right?"
"Then, you must be referring to a cousin of mine?" he suggested.
"I don't get you either, Shion-san," I scratched my head.
How could it be that there's no female child in his family?!
"Actually I was told that I am also to be married to a child of the Kamui family—" he held his chin.
A child? Him? But—there are no female children in my family, either! I'm the only child of my parents!
"Actually, I'm Kamui Gakupo, o-only child of the Kamui family. I-I-I...have no female cousins," I stuttered.
"M-me too, I'm the only child of my parents, but I have a 2-year old female cousin, Rin," he agreed.
A two-year old? No way. But if it's his side of the story that has to be understood, then...
"Could it be that...we are the ones who are supposed to get married?!"
