I KNOW IT'S BEEN A WHILE BUT DON'T WORRY, I'M NOT GIVING UP ON THIS STORY. SO WE LEFT OFF ON TSUKUNE AND THE GANG GETTING READY TO FACE A HOARD OF CORPSES. THEY ARE TRYING TO ESCAPE THE BUILDING WHILE MISS NEKONOME ACTS AS A DECOY. ENJOY THE CHAPTER. :)
CHAPTER SIX: DEATH GAME
Tsukune stared at the clock in the hallway. Only forty seconds until Mercer's "game" begins. Tsukune looks anxiously at Miss Nekonome who was sitting on the railing of the stairway, her legs crossed.
"Are you sure about this? Come with us Miss Nekonome. It's way more safer than this plan."
No matter how many times the students pleaded with their teacher, Miss Nekonome stood firm in her decision.
"We all know as well as I do that we won't stand a chance against those things. If there is a slight possibility that I can help you, then I will take it. Remember, as soon as they all turn their attention to me, head for the dorms. But if their is the chance that anything happens, run as fast as you can and try to escape. Don't look back no matter what, just run."
The group looks at the clock. Ten seconds, nine seconds, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two... The group brace for the game to start. One. It seemed like years that the group stood there in silence, the only sound was the click, click, click of the clock. Kokoa looked up at the ceiling. Then she heard it. The hissing, the growling, the clawing and crashing.
"Damn it! They're here!"
The door at the end of the hallway burst open and hundreds upon hundreds of walking corpses rush the group. Tsukune and the girls run as fast as their legs would carry them. Miss Nekonome got up from her perch and meowed.
"Hey you guys! Over here, come this way!"
The corpses look over to the cat like woman and sloppily shove each other to get a reach at her. Nekonome simply jumps back onto the stairway and starts running down the hallway, the hungry corpses close behind.
Tsukune leads the group through the hallways, dodging the corpses that barrage the path ways. Yukari buried her face in Tsukune's shoulder and from the carnage and gore as he piggy backed her to keep her safe. Moka looks into a room to her left. A young girl with short blue hair was being devoured and ripped apart.
"Please help! It hurts! It hurts so much!"
Moka looked into her pain filled eyes and threw up. Kurumu turned around and helped threw Moka's arm around her shoulder as she fell to the ground.
"Come on! I know it's hard to look at but there isn't anything we can do now! You heard what Mercer said: The effects are immediate. She'll be a corpse in less than a three seconds."
Moka regains her composure and continues to run with the group. Tsukune looked at at Mizore and huffed heavily.
"Do you think you could create a wall to slow those things down?"
Mizore comes to a screeching halt and turns around. She outstretches her arms and freezes the air, creating a large, thick wall to block the corpses way. She turns around and continues to run.
"It's done Tsukune, I hope that slows them down."
Miss Nekonome leaped from bannister to bannister, adding more pursuers as she trailed Tsukune and the group.
"Come on kids, I know you can get out of here..."
She continued to run through the halls as the corpses growled and chased after her.
Back to Tsukune and the group, the teens make their way into the final hallway. The ice wall had been broken due to the force of the corpses pushing upon the wall. Kurumu looked back as a fallen corps grabbed her leg.
"Get the Hell off of me!"
She slammed her free foot into the bodies hideous, deformed face. She stammered to catch up to the group and she yelled over to them.
"We have to hurry up and get out of here! I'm getting too tired to run anymore and these things are starting to multiply like rabbits!"
Ruby turned to Tsukune and sighed.
"We can't keep this running up any longer Tsukune. Everyone is dying."
The group continued to run until they got to the cafeteria. They burst through the doors only to come face to face with the most gruesome image. People where being eaten and killed, transforming inot infected bodies instantly. Yukari fell of of Tsukune's back and fell to the floor. She could hear them, the screams and pleads of help.
"Oh dear God! Help!"
"Get it off! It's killing me, please get it off!"
"Stay away from me! Stay Away! God no! Nooo!"
Yukari vomited all over the floor.
"Tsukune...I-I can't go on. Those people...they're dying. There screams..they're horrible."
Tsukune lifted Yukari on her feet and covered her ears. Tsukune looks up and see's the bodies charge at them.
"Come on, lets get the hell out of here!"
The group dashes out of the cafeteria and run back into the hallway. Moka looks at Tsukune and speaks.
"I have an idea Tsukune. I want you to pull off my rosary."
Tsukune grew wide eyed in horror.
"Moka you're not actually thinking about fighting those things are you? I know you're stronger than them but they'll over power you!"
Moka closed her eyes and grabbed Tsukune's hand, forcing him to pull off her rosary. Her pink hair turned into silver, her sweet, innocent, green eyes turned into cold, bloodthirsty red ones. Her figure more built, and her strength unleashed. She comes to a screeching halt and turns around.
"I suppose I'll have to deal with these things. But you all better get out of here safely. I won't die just to have you all end up chewing on each other. Hurry up, the doors right there. Miss Nekonome is probably dead wont survive unless one of us stays behind."
"No!"
The inner Moka looks up as Nekonome leaps down from the second floor and in front of the group.
"Don't you dare die now! You all have to get out of here now! I won't let any of you throw your lives away!"
Moka chuckles and crosses her arms.
"Please. You wont last three seconds against these things. I'll hold them off and you can get out of here. I'll join you l-"
Miss Nekonome shoves Moka through the door along with the rest of the group. She looks at them and smiles a warm smile before closing the doors.
"Good luck kids. Hurry up and get to the dorms."
The doors close shut and Miss Nekonome turns to face the mob of corpses. Moka and the group stand in silence, tears streaming down their faces. Tsukune clenches his fists and sobs.
"We have to get to the dorms. Miss Nekonome just died for us, and I'm not letting her death be in vain."
The group turn and run for the dorms. Miss Nekonome stands with her back to the door, and she smile at the corpses.
"Well, you guys came this far for your meal, so come and get it."
With that, the corpses charge, biting down into Miss Nekonome's flesh, drinking the blood of their victim. Miss Nekonome bore through the pain, ensuring no screams came from her mouth so she wouldn't discourage her students.
"...No, not students, my...friends."
Miss Nekonome closes her eyes and accepted her fate. All at once, the corpses retreated and made way for Alex Mercer. Miss Nekonome opened her eyes, her body torn up, blood everywhere, her glasses cracked. She looked into the master minds face. He was completely furious and his claws were ready to slice through her body.
"You and your group of fucking rats are starting to piss me off. Did you not hear what I said? You broke the boundaries and now you go and let those kids break the rules. Now, where the fuck are they going?"
Miss Nekonome draws her breath and speaks in broken sentences.
"It'll..be a thousand years...before I tell you...anything."
Alex looks up and grins. He slams his claws into Miss Nekonome's chest and chuckles.
"One last chance, tell me and you'll die faster."
Miss Nekonome spit in Alex's face, something she'd never do to anyone.
"They haven't...broken any rules...You never told...anyone...what the boundaries were...So they're...safe."
Alex nods and grins.
"I suppose you're right. Tell you what, since you did such a good job defending those kids, and such a good job tricking me, I'm going to let you die quickly."
Alex plunges his claw deeper into Miss Nekonome's chest, letting the blood gush out as she writhes in agony. Miss Nekonome finally lets her limp hand fall to the ground as she utters her last words.
"Thank you guys...for giving me the best years...of my life...I'll miss you..."
She smiles as a single tear falls from her closed eyes. Alex looks at the corpses and transforms his arm into a sword. After her kills the already dead bodies, he heads deeper into the heart of the gore filled school.
"Those bastards. I'll make them pay for making a fool out of me."
Tsukune lead the remainder of the group to the dorms as they made their way to his room. They finally reached their destination and entered the room, leaving the lights off and locking the door. Tsukune looked at the girls as best as he could and sunk to the floor, exhausted.
