I own nothing but the plot. Enjoy! x
Celine knocked gently on the door. "Clary, honey are you ok?"
"You can come in."
Celine sat carefully at the edge of her bed. "Clary, whats wrong?"
"Whats wrong? Im freaking pregnant at 17 years old is what wrong. Im not even out of high school yet!"
"Clary everything will be fine."
"No they wont! What if Jace leaves me! Leaves me alone with a kid, I don't know what to do! I haven't been taught! Im way too young! Me and Jace will suck at being parents. I don't even want a kid! Maybe when IM like 30! Not 17!"
"Clary, you have options."
"Like what? Killing or abandoning the baby, great."
"Clary just relax. Get some rest. Sleep on it, and we can discuss this tomorrow at your doctors appointment, okay?" she said gently. Clary nodded and curled herself under the doona, still fully clothed. "Goodnight sweetie, I promise everything will be fine." Celine said, kissing CLarys forhead gently.
Celine turned the lights out and just before she closed the door she heard a small voice.
"Celine."
"Yes honey?"
"Please don't tell anyone. Not even Jace, or my mum."
"No of course not Clare, I'll see you in the morning."
Clary turned over and fell into a restless sleep.
Jocelyn met Celine anxiously at the stairs
"How is she, is she alright?"
"Yeah she just needs a breather I think. She should be feeling better by tomorrow."
"Ok."
"I don't know if she told you but she has an appointment tomorrow, at 10:15."
Jocelyn rolled her eyes, "Of course she didn't tell me. But thankyou for letting me know. I take it you got the tests back?"
"Yeah, I did." She said slowly.
"And?" Jocelyn prompted.
"Sorry Jocelyn, you know I cant disclose information without the patients consent."
"It was worth a shot."
The two woman entered back into the dining room, where conversation fell silent once more.
"Shes just tired and stressed." Jocelyn said with a reassuring smile, sending everyone back into the loud chatter that echoed around the room. Jocelyn, Mayrse and Celine cleared the table and the dinner dishes, and set out the dessert dishes which everyone crowded around. Once dessert had finished Jocelyn and Celine got everyone hot drinks while Mayrse cleared the dessert dishes. It was a long while after dessert was packed up; the kids were playing xbox upstairs, the adults were talking, that Jace rentered the house, his cheeks pink from the cold.
"Jace, honey. I was getting worried."
"Im fine." He answered groughly and made his way up to where he knew the others would be. He entered the room and his eyes scanned the room hopefully but his face fell when he found no bright red hair. He sat down on one of the couches at the back of the room, next to Alec.
"You alright man?"
"Fine." Jace said tiredly.
"Im always here if you need to talk." Jace nodded his head in appreciation.
"Thanks Alec." He sat there quietly for another half hour before Robert came up and announced they were going, and that the Herondales were as well. Everyone filed out the door and into their cars. Jace walked past Jocelyn at the door, but stopped when he felt a hand on his arm. He turned to face Jocelyn.
"Jace, Im sorry. I don't know what that was about but…give her time. She'll come around." Jace nodded and thanked her for dinner before getting in his car and heading home. The ride was short, because all 3 families lived within a few streets of each other. Jace pulled into their long driveway and shut his car off. He paused a moment, but decided he should just calm down and wait it out; surely she would come back. With that in mind Jace entered his house and went straight to bed.
Clary woke up the next morning, feeling relaxed. Until she remembered what she discovered last night. She felt sick, and new she was going to throw up; whether from the thought of being pregnant or the physical side of being pregnant Clary didn't know. She rushed to the bathroom and vomited into the toilet, tears pricking in her eyes. She was so in over her head it wasn't funny, and she had no clue how Jace would react. Would he want the baby? Hell, Clary knew she didn't want the baby, that was for sure. She slowly picked herself up and got into the shower, taking a longer than normal shower before exiting and standing in front of the mirror. She looked at her stomach; it didn't look or feel bigger, but she knew it was too early for that. As Clary got dressed and had breakfast she thought hard about what she should do, and as her mum got in the drivers seat, and pulled out, Clary knew what she would do.
"Are you sure you want me to wait here?" Jocelyn asked as she parked the car.
"Yeah, if that's ok."
"Whatever your comfortable with sweetie." Jocelyn kissed Clary's forehead and Clary got out of the car, her palms already sweaty.
She walked in and got in line to the reception desk.
"Next!"
"Clarissa Fray."
"10:15 Dr. Herondale?"
"Yeah."
"Take a seat please."
Clary nodded and sat down, appaled by all the screaming babies around the room. There were toddlers pulling their mums clothes, babies screaming, kids fighting and babies vomitting. Clary felt queasy herself, and closed her eyes in an attempt to block it out.
"Clary."
Clary looked up and saw Dr. Herondale giving her a reasurring smile and leading her into her office/examining room. Clary took a seat and wiped her palms on her jeans.
"Hi Clary, how did you sleep?"
"Yeah ok. Ive slept better."
"I can understand that."
"Yep." An awkward silence fell over the room.
"So, can you tell me when exactly when the baby was conceived?"
Clary cleared her throat. "Tuesday before last."
"The night of that big date?"
Clary nodded sheepishly.
"And when were you supposed to get your period?"
"Are you usually, regular?"
Clary nodded.
"So that should make you around 5 weeks along. Clary- I can give you some options to think about. Of course theres abortion; which if you do that path, would be ideal to have in roughly a week. You can give birth to the child and put it up for adoption, or you can keep the baby."
Clary nodded and took a deep breath. "Ive thought about this, lots and I think I- I want-…" Clary paused to calm herself down. "An abortion." She said quietly into the silent room. Silence fell around them again and Celine cleared her throat uncomfortably.
"Clary, are you sure that's what you want?" Clary nodded. "Clary, honey, Jace is the father yes?" Again Clary nodded. "And would I be right in assuming you haven't spoken to him about this?" Another nod. "Honey, I really think you should talk to him about this. I know he would be broken if he found out down the track, and that could seriously ruin your relationship. Also he is the father; technically you wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't for him, so you should at least ask what he thinks."
Clary took a deep breath, but found herself exploding anyway. "Why should I ask him! Its my body that changes, that this affects not his! Its his fault, for not putting a fucking condom on! Its my body, my choice, and your right, I wouldn't be sitting here if he had remembered to cover his dick!" Clary realised she was breathing hard and Celine swallowed uncomfortably. She guessed any mother would be uncomfortable if their sons girlfriend talked about their sex life.
"Clary, I understand your angry at the moment; hell I may go home and slap that boy, but I really think you should talk to him about this."
Clary hesitated, before shaking her head. "No. I don't want to."
"Are you positive?"
A wave of doubt flowed over Clary, but she pushed it down and nodded. "Okay then. I'll make you an appointment at an abortion clinic for next week."
Clary nodded as Celine tapped away at her computer, and picked up her phone.
"Hello Kerry, yes an appointment for Clarissa Fray. Yes I'll send her file to you now. Next week. Okay. Yes. Thankyou, bye."
Celine swivelled around to face Clary. "Next Saturday at 12:30."
"Thankyou." Clary said quietly.
"Of course Clare. And if you do change your mind;" she pulled a card out from her desk, "you can call this number and cancel. Ok?" She wrote the appointment time down for her, and Clary slipped the card into her wallet.
"Now Clary, I uh," Celine paused awkwardly. "I assume you understand about protection, and safe sex." Clary went bright red, and nodded quickly.
"Uh, yeah, we get taught at, at school."
"I thought so. Now, well, any teenage pregnancies we get in, we are required to," she broke of and dug around in a draw on her desk, "give you a packet." Clary took the cardboard box from the Celine's hand catiously, and nearly dropped it when she realised what they were.
"Oh Dr. Herondale, its ok im, only with, well Jace and he has heaps…" Clary trailed off as she realised what she said and put her head in her hands, absolutely mortified. Celine raised an eyebrow comically.
"Well it seems as though he needs to learn how, and when to use them." Clary smirked slightly at the idea of Celine teaching her 18 year old son about condoms. "But really Clary, take them; its my duty to ensure you do." Clary blushed again and put them in her bag.
Both women stood, and Celine gave her a hug.
"Clary, I know youll do whats right for you, but; please, I encourage you to tell someone. Whether its Jace, your mother, Jon, even Izzy. Just tell someone, you need someone to talk to at the moment. Okay?"
Clary nodded and pulled away, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
"I'll see you around."
"Yeah, ok. Bye." Clary left the office and walked down the hall with her arms wrapped 76around her stomach. She squinted into the sun and got into the passenger seat, her mum putting away her magazine.
"Everything ok Clare-bear?"
"Yeah, mum, everythings fine." Clary said quietly. Jocelyn looked skeptical but didn't pursue the subject, instead talking about the open day she had just had.
"Oh, Clary! I completely forgot to tell you!"
"What?" Clary asked warily.
"That guy that wanted your painting gave me a card for his art school; he wants you to go there! He offered a full scholarship, claiming that that was the best student work he'd ever seen."
"Are you serious?!"
"Yeah!"
"Yay!" Clary smiled, a real smile. "He knows I havent finished High School doesn't he?"
"Yes, it was for when you finish high school. He gave me all the paperwork."
"That's amazing! Thanks so much for letting me have paintings up!"
"No problem Clare, you deserve it."
Clary smiled and looked down at her hands, wondering what her mum would think of her when she found out. The rest of the ride was silence, and her mum pulled into their driveway.
"Clare I'm gonna head back to the studio, get some painting done. Will you be all right by yourself?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
"Cool, ill call you later Clare!" Clary hopped out of the car and opened the door and locking it behind her. She slumped down onto the couch, and found her mind drifting off to sleep.
