Stay By My Side Chapter 6
A/N: I'm really sorry I haven't updated in forever...for any of my stories...I have no good excuse for being away for so long. I just didn't have it in me to write whatsoever...I still don't...but I felt bad when I checked to see how long it's been so yeah...sorry...
Here's some Noemi and Spike fluff (not really fluff but whatever I tried) Um...I hope you all enjoy it or at least like it somewhat. I'll try to update this story tomorrow or the next for Christmas/New Years and all.
Happy Holidays!
A few weeks later...
A light knock was heard on the door, "Come in." Noemi called softly.
Spiked smiled brightly as he walked in wearing jeans and a gray long sleeve shirt that was rolled up to his elbows. "Hey!"
Noemi smiled slightly as he sat down in the chair beside her hospital bed. "Hey, Spike, what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to see how you were doing...so how are you?" he cheekily asked, Noemi rolled her eyes and chuckled slightly in response.
"I'm fine, thanks for asking." she smiled with slight tension in her face.
Spike raised an eyebrow in slight concern, "Even physical therapy is alright?" She nodded quickly with a slight frown.
"I just want to get outta here!" she whined. "I feel like I would have more freedom in prison than here."
Spike broke out into laughter, "Probably would." he stated as she groaned loudly in annoyance. "I'm sorry, how about I go see when you can be released, huh?"
She stared at him in surprise, "Really?"
He nodded standing up with a bright smile, "Yeah why not? None of us like to spend a lot of time in the hospital so it's only fair that we get yah outta here ASAP."
She smiled brightly at him as he opened the door once again. "Thanks, Spike." she said.
Spike stopped with a smile, "Don't thank me until you get out of this hell hole." she nodded happily as the door clicked closed once again.
A few minutes later Spike came back with a nurse and the doctor so they could check to see how Noemi was recovering.
"Well, it looks like you're healing very well, Miss Frederick." the doctor said, making Spike and Noemi smile brightly at each other.
"Does that mean I can get outta here now?" she asked hopefully. The doctor nodded slightly as she cheered happily.
The doctor pulled out a few forms and handed them to Spike, making Noemi frown in slight confusion. "I need you to sign her release forms and hand them in on your way out. Have a nice day." the doctor said with a smile before leaving.
Spike quickly signed them and looked up to see Noemi frowning at him. "What?" he asked.
"Why couldn't I sign my own release papers?" she asked.
Spike awkwardly cleared his throat, "Um...I might have said that you were my girlfriend to come in and check on you one night after a late shift so some creepy nurse would stop questioning me about showing up and hitting on me every single time."
Noemi stared at him like he grew two heads before laughing loudly, "O-Okay...wow!" she chuckled wiping away a stray tear. "Well, since I'm just now hearing about this when do I get a date?" she stated as she got up with Spike's help and headed to the bathroom with a clean set of clothes from a bag of clothes that Josh and Derek brought her a week ago.
Spike coughed loudly in surprise, "W-What?!" he asked as she changed into a pair of dark jeans, a pair of navy and white sneakers, and a navy and white striped t-shirt before coming out with a smirk on her face.
"Well, the last few weeks I've been getting weird questions about you from the nurses about you so I only think it's fair that I get a date out of it before we 'break up'." she air quoted the break up part.
Spike smiled slightly, "Okay, why not? I have the day off anyways." he stated taking her hand into his, making Noemi jump in surprise.
"O-Okay. Let's go get some actual food since I'm starving." she smiled back as he grabbed her stuff before they walked out hand in hand.
They walked out of the hospital to Spike's car. He helped her get situated in the passenger seat before he got in the driver's side and drove off.
"So where do you want to go?" Spike asked glancing over to Noemi.
She shrugged, "I don't know."
They were silently thinking of a food place to go. "How does pizza sound?" he asked.
She smiled at him and nodded, "Perfect..."
Spike started driving towards a pizza place he knows as Noemi stared out the window.
"So what is everyone else up to on their day off?" Noemi asked the one question that was bothering her since Spike showed up.
Spike stopped at a stop light and turned to her, "Well, Wordy is babysitting his girls while Shelley went grocery shopping. Um...today is Ed and Sophie's date night I think. I have no clue what the Boss is doing and I think Sam is helping Jules with her house remodeling."
"What about Lou?" she asked as Spike faced forward and drove off again.
"He is spending the day with his family and he kind of asked me to check up on you." Spike answered.
"Oh..." she trailed off. "Well, you can just drop me off at my house since you probably have other things to do on your day off." she stated with slight guilt.
Spike glanced at her with a bright smile, "No, not really. I needed some space from my parents so it's a win-win situation."
Noemi nodded slightly, "Okay, if you're sure." she said as Spike parked his car and they got out and headed inside the Italian pizza place, Papa Ezelia.
A graying haired lady perked up when the bell on the door rang, she grinned brightly as she rushed over to Spike, hugged him tightly and said something quickly in Italian before looking at Noemi by his side. She said something again while glaring at her warily before Spike laughed and said something in response before she led them to a table in a quiet corner before leaving them alone.
"Um...what was that about?" Noemi asked curiously as Spike looked at the menu.
He looked up in slight confusion before he understood what she meant. "Oh, Mrs. Ezelia is a close friend of my ma and pa's. We use to come here for pizza all of the time when I was growing up."
"Oh..." she trailed off but frowned in slight thought. "Then why did she glare at me like she wanted me to die?"
Spike laughed loudly, "She asked me when did I start dating you and if you were treating me right."
Noemi blushed slightly as she glanced at the lady who waved happily at them, she awkwardly waved back. "I'm guessing you said I am because I'm pretty sure I would've been dead already if you didn't." she stated.
"Yeah, most probably." Spike said. "So pepperoni or cheese?" he asked.
"Pepperoni." Noemi said instantly.
"Good choice." Spike smiled brightly as he waved over Mrs. Ezelia to take their order before they were alone once again.
There was an awkward silence for a few minutes where Spike and Noemi just sat there looking everywhere but at each other.
Neither of them could take it anymore, "So..." they both trailed off at the same time, making both of them chuckle.
"How about we play twenty questions to get to know each other?" Spike suggested.
"Okay, I'm down for it." Noemi stated as she let Spike go first.
"Hm...what's your favorite color?" he asked.
Noemi smiled, "Going for an easy one, huh?" she teased, making him pout slightly.
"Hey! I didn't want to do a weird one, so just answer the question." he stated, she held her hands up in surrender.
"Okay...my favorite color is purple." she said as he nodded slowly. "My turn. What do you do exactly at the SRU?"
Spike brightened up immediately at her question, "I love my job! Pretty much I'm the one that searches for information on our subjects to find out all that we can to figure out what pushed them past their breaking point and I sometimes get to defuse a bomb with Babycakes!"
Noemi nodded slowly absorbing the information. "What do you actually do?" Spike asked with a curious raise of his eyebrow.
Noemi tensed slightly, "Um...it's not that exciting." she stated.
Spike frowned sadly, "C'mon it can't be that bad."
Noemi sighed, "Yeah, I guess you're right... Well...um...I am the CEO of my own business and pretty much my day consists of me making sure the business runs smoothly and that the products get where they're suppose to go so I can pay my employees. Pretty boring if you ask me."
Spike smiled, "Doesn't sound too bad, but what products do you sell?" Noemi gave him a 'are you serious' look. "What? I might want to buy something one day."
She stared at him like he was crazy. "Um...I sell...I really don't sell a certain product, pretty much I ship different products to other companies."
"Okay, well I guess that would be a good business to get into, plus I can see you doing that." he stated, nodding with a smile.
Noemi smiled slightly, "Um...what is your family like?" Spike froze instantly at the question. "Sorry, you don't have to answer that."
He shook his head, "My family is from Italy and pretty old fashion."
"Oh..." she responded.
"What about yours?" Spike asked.
"Um..." Noemi trailed off.
"They can't be that bad." he stated.
"Um...you'd be surprised." she muttered as their food was brought over and they dug in letting some silence take over.
A few minutes later Spike spoke up, "Well...?" he trailed off curiously.
Noemi sighed slightly, "I guess it's only fair, huh?" Spike nodded enthusiastically. "My family is majorly stuck up, filthy rich, and pretty much they despise me with a burning passion which I reciprocate fully so I left and made a life for myself."
"Oh well, I'm sure they're very proud of you for being so successful." Spike stated, Noemi shrugged.
"I haven't talked to them in give or take four years." she stated as she finished off her slice of pizza.
"Oh...well, maybe you should try to make up with them." he suggested.
Noemi chuckled at his suggestion, "No, my family would laugh in my face if I tried to do that. Plus they don't deserve any apology from me."
Spike frowned guiltily to himself, "I guess I know what you mean? Ready to go?"
Noemi nodded as Spike paid the bill without letting her pay part of it before they said goodbye to Mrs. Ezelia and got back into his car.
"So...where to next?" he asked as he drove off in a random direction.
Noemi shrugged, "Um...do you play video games?" she asked quietly with a worried expression on her face.
Spike grinned, "Yeah, I play all of the time with Lou."
She smiled and sighed in relief. "Duh, I should've known that since you're best friends with Lou and all."
They both laugh as they chatted about what their favorite video games are and which ones they should play. They soon pulled up to the front gate of Noemi's mansion, where she punched in the code before they stopped at the front door.
They got out and headed inside, "You know I still can't believe you live in a beautiful mansion like this all by yourself." Spike stated as Noemi led the way to her huge living room.
"Eh, you get use to it, plus Josh and Derek are over most of the time anyway." Noemi waved off as she hooked up her Xbox One so they could play some Halo.
She handed Spike a controller as they sat down on her super comfortable couch and started playing. They played game after game each having a hard time beating the other before they switched to co-op mode and kicked some alien booty.
They finally got tired of playing video games and shut it off. "Do you want to watch a movie?" Noemi asked as Spike stood up and stretched.
"Uh..." Spike trailed off.
"You don't have to, it was just a suggestion since I thought we were having a good time and all." Noemi quickly said.
Spike smiled, "Yeah, it's been one of the most relaxing days I've had in a long time so why not?" he stated as he sat back down.
She smiled brightly, "Great! You can pick the movie while I go make popcorn." she stated pressing a button on a remote to make one of her walls spin to reveal a whole bookcase completely filled with different movies.
"Woah..." Spike trailed off in shock.
"I'll be right back and any movie is fine with me." she stated as she ran off to the kitchen.
Spike got up and walked over to look at all of her movies when he noticed that she has all of the Star Wars movies, a lot of the Star Trek movies, and the complete box set of Stargate SG1. He grabbed the box set and looked at it with a huge grin.
"Picked something yet?" Noemi asked as she came back with a huge bowl of popcorn.
She came over to see what he picked, "Oh, I love that TV show, I've seen it thousands of times."
"You don't mind if we watch it do you?" he asked hopefully.
She shook her head with a huge smile, "Not at all, I'm glad I found someone that likes it as much as I do." she stated as she took it and popped in the first disc before they sat down and watched it intently.
They were so into the show that they didn't even get up to get more popcorn when they ran out. Eventually Noemi fell asleep leaning on Spike's shoulder as he continued to watch the episode they were on, when it finished he noticed it was pretty late and that he should get home since his parents were probably freaking out that he isn't home yet.
He carefully got up so he wouldn't wake her up. He was just about to get out of the living room when she spoke up, "Where are you going?"
Spike turned around, "I should get home, my ma and pa are probably worried." Noemi stood up and walked over to him. "I can find my own way out."
She smirked, "Sure, you can." she stated sarcastically as she easily lead the way to the front door and walked him to his car.
"Well, thanks for inviting me over." he thanked her.
"Not a problem, we should hang out again sometime." she smiled.
"Yeah, that would be great!" Spike beamed.
They awkwardly stood there when she spoke up, "Um...thanks a lot, Spike, for actually wasting your day off on me." she stated.
"Eh, I didn't really waste it since we got to know each other better and plus we had a blast." he smiled.
Spike was about to get into his car when Noemi spoke up once again, "Can I ask you a question?"
Spike turned around and smirked slightly, "You kind of just did."
Noemi laughed and rolled her eyes playfully, "Shush. Anyways, you didn't actually say I was your girlfriend to your Mom's friend did you?"
Spike stayed silent, freaking her out slightly before he broke out laughing and shook his head. "No, I didn't. I told her that you are a very good friend of mine and that you just got out of the hospital and that I had to say I was your boyfriend to get the nurses off my back."
"Oh well, that's good since I'm pretty sure that would be a major shock to your parents." she stated.
Spike nodded, "Yeah, it would be and my pa most probably would kill me for it." he stated sadly.
Noemi frowned in slight confusion, "Why?" she asked, making him tense. "Sorry, you don't have to answer that."
He shook his head, "You have the right to know like everyone else on Team One." he stated before jumping into his explanation. "My pa doesn't like that I risk my life everyday being a part of the SRU and he doesn't like the idea of losing me before it's his time. He wants me to quit the SRU and get a desk job, but I love my job too much to quit so my relationship with my pa is very tense."
There was a tense silence between them after he completed his explanation, "That's very sad to hear since you save so many lives everyday, he should be proud to have you as his son, but I see where he is coming from." she stated.
Spike took a deep breath before speaking up, "You don't have to tell me but I've been wondering who that guy that kidnapped you and Jules is?"
Noemi freezed and her face paled considerably.
Spike frowned guiltily, "Sorry that I mentioned such a painful subject." he stated as he turned back around to go.
"Wait," Noemi grabbed his arm to stop him from leaving. "That guy is one of the people besides my own family that ruined my life." she stated.
Spike frowned in response, "He hinted that he..." he trailed off, not able to say the word.
Noemi nodded slowly as he gasped, "He did... Please don't tell anyone this but he's done IT more then once...a-and other things. He's a terrible person, but he'll never be put away for it."
Spike's eyes widen at her last statement, "H-How...b-but..."
"He's a very cunning person and has a lot of connections. All I can do is make sure I stay hidden." she explained.
"I-I don't know what to say..." he trailed off.
Noemi lowered her head guiltily, "Sorry, I'm unloading my problems on top of your own problems just forget about what I said."
He shook his head quickly, "No, it's fine, we're friends so if you ever want to talk about it again then let me know and don't worry I won't say anything unless you want me to" he smiled slightly.
She smiled slightly in response, "Um...thanks, Spike, that means a lot to me. I guess I'll talk to you tomorrow then?"
He nodded, "Yeah definitely, bye!" he called as he got in his car and waved a goodbye before driving off.
Noemi sighed loudly to herself.
Why did I open up about my past now of all times...?
