Author's Note:

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to update, I've had a serious case of writers block recently and I haven't had many ideas to work on. I hope this chapter is a good one because it kind of feels a tad rushed for me.

I'm working on making my chapters longer, around 3-4,000, if you guys like the longer chapters let me know! If you'd rather them be a tad shorter or if you think I should mix up the word count occasionally let me know that too :D

Ok so I'm not sure if I'll still be taking Ocs….

Alright enough babbling from me, here's chapter 6!

She's not sure exactly how long they've been sitting in the dark now…she just knows that her legs have began to cramp up and the burning beneath her skin is back.

Brittany squirms a little, trying to get some sort of feeling back into her limbs she accidently kicks Alvin's back.

She manages a weak smile as his lantern-like eyes flicker into view, training on her they narrow with annoyance and she spies a bit of confusion within their golden depths as well, she swallows and manages a soft whisper, knowing he'll hear it.

"My legs are a sleep…"

Her eyes have adjusted to the complete darkness and she's able to barely see his ears twitch atop his head as his eyes sweep over her, she tries to suppress the small shiver of discomfort that skirts up her spine…glowing eyes aren't exactly something you can become accustom too…

He turns his back to her again, leaving her squirming in discomfort, of course he doesn't care about her tingling legs…..after all it's not a life or death situation…

"Sorry," She whispers quickly, fidgeting.

Alvin remains silent for a moment and she feels her cheeks warm slightly, what is he thinking about? "I'll create a distraction, I've put a flashlight in the backpack but I don't think you should use it till you absolutely have to you,"

"And we're just going to split up? What about my sisters…..I'll never be able to find your brother…."

She feels him move again and his body heat vanishes from her side, his lantern-like eyes flicker into view again and she watches the edge of his face as the voices grow closer, the shuffling of feet sounding like noisy kids who don't fully understand how to play hide and seek.

The silence that hangs between the two rodents is deathly quiet, "Just whistle, I'll know it's you,"

Brittany fights back a snicker, no wonder he paused, only a dog would come running at the sound of a whistle, he knows what she's thinking and a low growl sounds in his throat just before his eyes blink out of view, his frame no longer hunkers down in the small space and she's suddenly suffocated by the crushing realization.

She's alone, completely and utterly alone in darkness, with no idea where to go and with several armed agents stalking the rooms.

She won't even make it out of the building.

The chipette chews at her bottom lip anxiously, reaching around she unzips the bag slightly and rummages around in it, feeling the cool metal brush against her fingers she snags the flashlight and whips it out.

It's a sturdy model that can hurt like hell if it collides with bone…..it'll make a decent weapon if it comes down to it.

She clutches the object in her fist and waits, but she doesn't have to wait long.

Shouts erupt around her and they're soon followed by gun fire, the sound sends her ears ringing and she tries not to hunker down and clutch at her head as the sound engulfs her, she'll have to move now even though she's now both blind and deaf….

Brittany bursts out from under the desk, banging into the blocky shapes of furniture she holds her tongue as her knees and legs ache from being bashed against various sharp edged items.

A body brushes past hers and she jerks away just as the brush of fingers grasp blindly at her elbow, she pushes herself faster, running awkwardly through the dark like a frightened deer.

Is there even another exit?! How the hell is she supposed to find a door in this stupid darkness!

She bites her tongue as a hand suddenly closes around her elbow, she knows right away that her captor isn't Alvin, the person's fingers dig in sharply to the point where her entire arm aches dully, she'll have a bruise for sure.

"Let go!" She whirls the flashlight around, hoping it'll collide with their head….nope she misjudged their height and she feels the butt of her weapon clang off body armor.

Horror grips her for a moment as she feels the nose of a gun press against her side, time for another swing of her flashlight, this time she has an inkling of how tall her attacker is and swings away with all her might, feeling sickly satisfied as she feels the metal collide with bone.

A strangled cry alerts her to the fact that it must've hurt like hell….that and she feels the hand rip away from her arm, she won't waste a second.

Turning sharply she bolts in the opposite direction, she could probably use her flashlight now, after all they probably know she's still in here with them considering one of their comrades is now cursing like a sailor.

Flicking on the light she squints as a white beam cuts through the darkness ahead of her…and it lands right on a door.

Her heart races faster as she crashes through the doorway and comes upon a flight of stairs, she was hoping for a door that leads outside…..not further into the building.

Frowning Brittany glances back the way she came, her nerves buzzing with adrenaline, she can fight back if she heads into the room again, she'll be able to find the right door and get out.

Grasping the doorknob she makes to twist it when a sudden sharp pain flares through her side, gasping she drops her flashlight as the pain explodes into her core, twisting it's way up her frame she feels her knees give out and the cold concrete bites into her shins as she doubles over from the sharp wicked flames eating their way through her.

W-what's happening…?! Bile rises in her throat and she can't hold back her breakfast, heaving loudly her body shakes roughly as the intense pain reaches her head.

White light explodes before her eyes, spotting the blackness with inky blue shadows as the lights fade and burst before her gaze, if her brain could scream it would…..oh wait.

She clamps a paw over her mouth, trying to cut off the wailing cry that somehow managed to break free, she falls to her side now, convulsing violently as she grasps at face, her claws dig into her skin and she feels the warmth of her blood trickle out.

Ripping her paws away from her own face takes a lot more strength than she has, and the movement causes the intense pain to flare up like an agitated wound, it squeezes around her organs, suffocates her for a moment and she's left gasping loudly, unable to stop the frantic sobs she lays at the bottom of the stairs…..is this what it's like to Shift…?

Or is she dying?

She honestly wants to die, it'll be a relief from this consuming fire that throbs in time with her racing heartbeat. It just won't stop.

Whimpering she faintly remembers to whistle…..but the only sounds she can conjure up are pained labored gasps and rough coughs, maybe she can…."A-Alvin….."

Brittany inwardly cringes, she sounds so pathetic….."ALVIN!" The scream scrapes against her throat, sending her into a harsh coughing fit that brings up a warm liquid from somewhere inside her.

Raising her paw she vaguely wonders if she's throwing up again, but the rich coppery scent lets her know it's not just a harmless reaction to pain…..blood drips from her mouth.

Her whole body quakes, quivering slightly as she feels panic settle in, blood still seeps up from her throat and she lets it trickle down her cheek to the cold unforgiving stone beneath her.

She's not entirely sure how long she's been on the ground, and she doesn't want to try and move.

She'll just lay here, and let her body sort itself out, she's tired of the throbbing pain that has consumed her. It just sits inside her, waiting for her to do something stupid to bring it rearing back.

Brittany stares at the closed door, her flashlight lays on it's side just out of the corner of her eye and she feels a tad bit of relief seeing that it's light is still on, at least she's not in pitch blackness.

That werewolf blood…..or whatever the hell it is, sure is a son of a bitch…..flexing her fingers cautiously she squeezes her eyes shut as her hand aches, she feels like she slammed all her fingers in a car door or something…..

The door bangs open, startling her to death she flinches and instantly regrets it, groaning she curls in on herself and prays that whoever the hell just barged in will decide to just kill her quickly.

Nope…a hand buries into her hair and yanks her harshly, she screams as the hot venom bursts forward, surging through her sore veins and back into her head where it throbs and thrashes around like some sort of living thing…she feels as if it's tearing away at her insides.

"LET GO!" She thrashes wildly, the pain is already back and strong, putting up a fight is all she can do now.

"Stop moving, damn….." Her captor twists her hair, causing her scalp to burn hotly as the pain throbs at her roots, she struggles more, trying to find some sort of purchase on the floor she tries to get her footing but she's not having much luck.

"I found the girl….we'll have to go after the wolf later, maybe we could use her as bait," They toss her forward and she gags as she hits the floor harshly, her side throbs and she feels the venom rush to the source of pain, further adding to the pressure.

"You really think he'll come b-back for me? You guys must be desperate," She cracks a smirk, hoping to mask the intense pain she's in, she can't let them see she's already hurt.

"Shut up," The man who grabbed her earlier sends the heel of his boot into her leg, she flinches and gasps soundlessly, keeping her arms tucked against her stomach she curls her legs in closer to her body, hoping to make it harder for them to lash out at her.

She's not sure how long it's been since they've tried to escape this run-down building, but it must've been nearly twenty minutes or so if Alvin's already escaped.

"We should move her, it won't be easy trying to capture him here,"

"If we do move her we'll risk him attacking us, and we'll be too distracted with trying to hang onto the girl that we might just lose them both,"

More voices join in on the conversation that's quickly turning into an argument, Brittany blocks them out, their voices fading to background noise as she stares across the room between the feet of one of the armed guards.

Two golden eyes watch her from a darkened doorway, and feels a thrill of hope.

For once she's not frightened by those glowing eyes and she doesn't dare look away, fearing that maybe it's just a trick of the light or her decaying mind, she wouldn't be surprised it whatever now rushes through her veins has strange side effects.

Keeping her gaze pinned to those golden irises she doesn't even realize another boot is aimed for her head, she cries out as the heel cuts open her skin at her temple, she wasn't prepared for the blow and curses herself as she feels tears trickle past her eyelashes and down her cheeks.

She manages to find his eyes again, but wishes she didn't because his once bright eyes have dissolved into the black orbs of the monster he truly is, and she can't stop the fear that swells up within her chest.

"Are you listening!?" One of the dark armored men leans down, face concealed behind a set of heavy high-tech looking goggles she stares at her reflection, shocked as her wide eyed copy blinks away more tears.

The fear seemed to have chased away the venom, the relief from the pain doesn't last long though as the man before her suddenly grabs her around the neck, she gasps and claws at his gloved hand, eyes wide with terror as his fingers press into the soft flesh of her throat.

The pressure doesn't last long, and as she stares at her reflection she sees the gaping jaws of a wolf, lunging for them both.

She's knocked down by his large chest and she feels the spray of warm blood against her back as her attacker manages a weak scream of terror before his face is bitten off, she cowers beneath his massive form tucking herself into a ball as more gun shots fill the air.

Brittany will never get used to the sound of firing weaponry, the sounds vibrate through her eardrums and seeps into her brain, she clamps her paws over her ears in hopes of blocking out most of the sound.

She shivers harshly against the ground, hoping and praying that the past day and a half has all been a dream...she doesn't want to witness this carnage, doesn't want the pain that lies within her veins, waiting to surface again and consume her. She's tired of it all.

"Brittany, Brittany!" She peels her eyes open, staring into the wide frightened gaze of the munk who keeps saving her ass, geez she would've been dead three times over by now, right? Has she nearly died three times or maybe-

"Brittany say something, please," His weak plea breaks into her rambling thoughts and she focuses on his face again, alarmed to see the sheen of tears in his eyes, "A-Alvin? Why are you crying?"

His eyes flicker over her face for a moment before he suddenly crushes her against him, his arms hugging her firmly against his chest as he buries his face in her neck, she stares over his shoulder in shock, too stunned and confused to move much she slowly lifts her arms to return his embrace as she finally breaks down and cries.
