Hi everyone! I'm back!
I would've gotten this up sooner but, my flash drive with all my stories on it broke, so I'm having to start from scratch.
I've decided to skip the next few episodes in the series and go right to Sick Mind because I don't see how Katie could play a real role in them.
I hope you all enjoy this chapter!
Transformers and its characters belong to Hasbro!
Katie belongs to Starlight837!
Chapter 6
Katie sat on the couch, with Raf and Jack before her. "Ok, Katie," Raf pulled up a picture of the Autobot insignia on his computer, "Who has this on them?"
"Bots!"
"And the Bots are…?"
"Good guys!"
The boys nodded satisfactorily before they pulled up the Decepticon insignia. "And who hs this?"
"Bad guys! Cons!"
Jack smiled, "That's right! Now…" he changed the picture to one of Arcee. "Bot or Con?"
"Bot!" The toddler pointed to the insignia on her frame. Next came a picture of Soundwave. "Con!"
Arcee came over and looked down at the kids. "What are you doing?"
"We're teaching Katie how to tell the difference between an Autobot and a Decepticon." Raf smiled, "I think she's got it down!"
"That's good to hear."
Optimus came over and smiled at his young charge, lifting her into his palm. He was glad that the others were teaching her how to recognize the Decepticons; it pained him to think of his young charge in enemy servos.
"Optimus!" Ratchet called his leader over. "I'm receiving a transmission from a restricted channel. It appears to be coming from a starship inside this solar system." Everyone crowded around. "It's an Autobot identification beacon!"
"Nother Bot?" Katie looked up at Optimus questioningly.
Arcee explained to the girl. "The masses spread throughout the galaxies when Cybertron finally went dark. But, Cons have been known to bait traps with false beacons."
"Unknown vessel," Optimus said into the monitor, "This is Autobot outpost Omega One. Identify yourself."
'I've had warmer welcomes from Decepticon combat brigades…'
"Wheeljack!" Bulkhead jumped at the voice. "You old Con-crusher! What're you doing all the way out here?"
'Bulkhead? That you? What's with all the security?'
Bulkhead grinned, "The rock we're on is crawlin' with Cons. How soon can you get here and even the odds?"
'Sometime tomorrow, if I put metal to the pedal,' Wheeljack's voice sounded excited.
"Another Bot's coming here!? How cool is that?!"
"Wheeljack… I know him by reputation only," Optimus looked to the big green Bot, "Can you verify his voice print?"
Bulkhead smiled widely, "He is one-thousand percent the real deal, Optimus."
The Autobot leader nodded. "We will send landing coordinates, Wheeljack… safe journey."
"See ya soon, buddy! I'll make sure you get a proper welcome!"
The communication ended and Arcee turned to the big green Bot. "So, who's the boyfriend?"
"Me and Jackie go way back." Bulkhead chuckled. "We were part of the same war unit… the Wreckers! Which means the Cons will wish he'd never found us."
The next day, Katie sat on her guardian's shoulder plating waiting for the new Autobot to arrive.
"Wheeljack's ship is approaching the landing zone."
All the kids were excited about the visitor. "Do you think he's here to visit?"
"Maybe he'll stay!" Miko grinned. "Hm… he'll have to find his own human though…"
Ratchet went over to the groundbridge console and typed in the coordinates. "Groundbridge cycling up…" the console sparked suddenly. "Frag…" his optics darted over to the sparkling on his leader's shoulder. "Blasted scraplets! The equipment hasn't been the same since the infestation."
"Um…" Katie asked, "why he no come righ 'ere?"
"We can't risk revealing the location of our base, just in case the Decepticons are tracking Wheeljack's ship."
Miko watched as Bulkhead paced back and forth. "Dude! I've never seen you so stoked!"
"Oh, you're gonna love Wheeljack!" The Wrecker grinned happily, "We were like brothers! And tonight, we're gonna party!"
"Sweet!"
Suddenly, the alarms blared. "Bogies! Closing fast on Wheeljack's position."
"Con scum!" Bulkhead, Bumblebee, and Arcee waited by the groundbridge, waiting for it to open. "Open the groundbridge, Ratchet! We're missing all the action!"
The medic opened the portal. "I'll prepare sickbay."
"For who, the Cons? This is Wheeljack we're talking about!" He ran through the portal with the others behind him. They quickly came back with a white, green, and red mech.
Katie watched the introductions from her guardian's shoulder as the mech approached them. "Optimus Prime… it's a privilege
"Likewise soldier. What have you to report from your long journey?"
"Been bouncing from rock to rock," Wheeljack shrugged, "Searching for signs of friend or foe… now I find both."
Optimus nodded. "We are few but strong. We've suffered losses, but we have grown." His optics glanced over towards his charge. "And we would relish welcoming a new member into our fold."
"I would be honored…"
Bulkhead clapped his friend on the back. "Then let's get this party started!"
Wheeljack chassis bumped his fellow Wrecker before stopping to observe the tiny human on Optimus's shoulder plating. "Who's your little hitchhiker, Optimus?"
"Bot!" Katie grinned and pointed to Wheeljack.
"That's Optimus's charge, Katie." Arcee explained.
"Oh… I see…"
Miko's guitar rang throughout the base as the two Wreckers began fashioning a large ball out of scrap metal. Katie watched them for a few minutes before turning around. Optimus strode slowly towards the base exit.
The child jumped up and went after him. "Oppie! Where ya goin'?"
"Out for a drive…"
"Can I come?" The little girl grinned up at her guardian.
Reaching down, Optimus scooped her into his palm. "I do not see why not." He transformed around her and drove out of base.
The two went down the long desert road with the sun setting behind them. "Where we goin', Oppie?"
"Wait and see." Optimus knew exactly where he was going.
They drove off the road, onto the desert ground, before Optimus transformed, carrying the toddler in his servos. He went around a plateau and spotted a large hole in the ground; exactly what he was looking for. "Hold on, Katie."
The toddler clung to his shoulder plating as the bot began to climb down the rocky side of the hole. "Oppie… Wa' dis place?"
"It's a cave; I found it while I was scouting for Energon one day." He continued to climb down the cavern walls until his peddes touched solid ground beneath him. Before them lay a large, dark, opening.
"Oppie… it dark…"
"Do not be afraid." Optimus took her into his palm, "I'm right here." He strode into the cave; walking for about a minute before he stopped. "Katie, I'd like to show you something."
"Wha'?"
Optimus turned on the headlights on his chassis and smiled as Katie's eyes lit up with wonder. The cavern shimmered with crystals and salt which covered the floor, celling, walls, stalactites, and stalagmites.
"Oppie! It so pretty!" He set her down, allowing the child to totter over to the crystals. She ran around the cavern, laughing, and smiling.
After an hour, the two climbed out of the cavern and went and sat on the top of a plateau, staring up at the stars.
"Oppie…"
"Yes Katie."
Her blue eyes looked up at him. "Which one your home?" Her hand pointed towards the stars.
His optics widened before he looked back at the sky. "I cannot tell, Katie. There are so many that I can't tell which one is my home."
"Hm…" the toddler stood up and took a few paces forward. "Der!" She pointed to a single star, near the horizon, that looked a little brighter than the others. "I tink it's dat one."
"Why that one, Katie?"
"Cause it so bright!" Her arms spread wide with joy. "Bots so nice dat dey have to come fom a bight star!"
Optimus smiled gently at her and her simple yet profound logic. He looked at the star and smiled. "You know, I think you're right. I think that could be my home."
Optimus drove back into base late that night with a sleeping Katie in his passenger seat. He paused and transformed, holding the girl in palm, as he surveyed the base. Some devices were crushed, Wheeljack seemed to be explaining something, and Miko sat on a medical berth with Ratchet scanning her body.
"What has happened here?"
They explained the situation to him; Optimus vented. "Well, I am glad that everyone is safe. Wheeljack, I thank you for your assistance in defeating the intruder and preventing harm from coming to any of those here." His optics drifted over towards Miko, who smiled and nodded to him.
"Glad I could help." Wheeljack grinned. He paused as his optics caught a glimpse of something in the Autobot leader's servo. "What's that?"
"Oh, that's Optimus's charge, Katie." Arcee told him; the femme thought for a moment before speaking again. "Actually, it's probably best if we don't tell her about what happened here. We just taught her how to tell the difference between an Autobot and a Decepticon; what happened here would just confuse her and we don't need that."
"Sounds good…"
Optimus looked down at the toddler before venting once more. "I will retire my quarters for the night." He turned and went down the hallway to his own quarters.
Lying down on his berth, he placed the tiny human on his chassis, right above his spark. The girl moved a little bit before settling down into a still sleeping state. Optimus smiled before offlining his optics. "Goodnight, Katie…"
Katie jumped into wakefulness from a nightmare. She looked around at the darkness around her, eyes searching for anything that wished to harm her. She stopped as she noticed a dim source of warmth beneath her.
She looked up and noticed Optimus's helm nearby; he was still in recharge. Placing her hands beneath her, she felt the steady warmth and beat of his spark. Her smile returned and she lay back down, allowing the warmth and beat to sooth her back to sleep.
This was just a little cute chapter.
Remember! I'll be skipping the next few episodes because Katie really wouldn't play a very good role in them.
