A/N: I realize it's been forever since I updated this story and for those of you still following it, I apologize. I hope to have a steady flow of chapters from here on out and have this sequel finished before the year is out.
Jacob knew he'd have to start looking for a place soon because although Sam and Bella would let him crash there for as long as he needed, he didn't want to intrude on their space and interfere with that newlywed phase they were sure to be in for a while. However, there weren't exactly a lot of empty houses to choose from on the Rez so his options were limited but he was willing to settle for just about anything if it meant getting away from his Dad.
When the pack heard about the latest argument between Jacob and the Chief they were shocked and doubly surprised that Jacob was going to move out on his own.
"How do you feel about roommates?" Quil asked one day after patrol
"Huh?" Jacob asked not catching on
"You know, sharing a house with other people?"
"Guess it depends on who these other people are." He shrugged
"Well you know how Old Quil is and although Mom has been pretty cool about everything the old guy hasn't and it just makes it tough to stay there you know. He says a lot of awful things, like how my Dad would be so disappointed if were alive and a bunch of other stuff that I don't really want to talk about. And as for Embry, well you know he's having issues with his Mom and even though he says he doesn't want to know who his Dad is anymore it still eats at him that his Mom refuses to even consider telling him so things are pretty strained for him too and I just think it'd be easier on all three of us if were out on our own."
"Yea I guess I wouldn't mind sharing with you two and we could just split the cost of bills and food. And there's actually a three bedroom place that I really liked but I couldn't afford it by myself so this works out perfectly."
"Awesome!" Quil grinned
The next day the boys spoke with the owner and the day after they were signing a lease and making arrangements to move in. All three of their parents were surprised that the boys had actually gone through with it but their sons were no longer boys and as reluctant as they were to accept that, they had no other choice.
The day after signing the lease for the house, Jacob returned to his father's house to retrieve his clothes and a few essentials. As he approached the house he could hear his Dad getting ready to leave with Harry and so he decided to wait until they were gone before he approached the house, he didn't want to have another argument like the one they'd had a few days ago.
Once he got into the house, he took his time looking around at the place where he grown up; he cataloged every nick and mark on the walls and the memories that went with them. A part of him knew that this might be the last time he stepped foot inside this house and as much as that pained him, it would've pained him more to stay.
He stopped in his Dad's room and smiled fondly as he remembered those times when his mother was still alive and he'd crawl into their bed after a nightmare. Billy would always grumble about how he was getting too big to be crawling in their bed but in the end he'd wrap him up in his strong arms as Sarah would sing a lullaby and he'd drift off to sleep knowing he was safe and protected; he'd never missed that feeling more than he did now. With a sigh and he turned and went into his room.
It didn't take long to pack his clothes and the few pictures he'd kept pinned to his wall over the years; funny how he'd spent his entire life filling this room with knick knacks and stashing magazines and it only took him 15 minutes to pack it all up. At the last minute he decided to write his Dad a note and left it on the kitchen counter where he figured he would easily find it once he got home.
Jacob took one last look around before he walked out of the house that was no longer his home.
A/N: I know its really short but there is more to come.
