Frisk had never been so relieved to win a game. Just from persecution she faced in the surface world, Frisk already knew that having limited information was dangerous. Now, she was not only away from those secret-hunters and the crazy woman she met down here, but she also had the luck to find an enforcer who was willing to let her walk free! Silently thanking the lord for his provision in her good fortune, Frisk nodded, agreeing to keep her life and secrets. She decided for the hundredth time never to leave him, and just like all the other times, she meant it whole-heartedly. Looking at Sana carfully, she did her best to convey gratitude, even as she searched his face for signs of him expecting to get a bribe.

Sans was just amused. This was the funniest thing to happen to him in a while. "Come on, kid, I'll show you the way to the path. You probably really miss your home by now" He watched her face as he gave the news to see if he would get any more surprises. He was disappointed when he couldn't figure out the expression that she was sending him. This kid was sure a mystery. He got a reply, even though it wasn't unexpected, from the kid.

"I'm not a child" Frisk signed, a bit insulted by the thought. She was an heiress of her bloodline and had managed to escape the 'recruiters'. That was not the action of a mere child!

Sans just wasn't sure what to make of the venimence she showed in that statement. "I'm not sure what it's like on the surface, but I'm not offending you by calling you a kid. I'm just saying that you aren't old enough to date someone". Sans wasn't sure what to make of the disbelief on the kid's face at the idea either. What kind of backwards world was the surface anyway? "If it makes you feel beter, kid, by the standerds down here, I'm a kid two. That doesn't stop me from having multiple jobs and being friends with lots of people"

A little mollifified by the explamation, Frisk stopped glaring at Sans. "Fine" She signed back. It was the closest she could get to a retraction with Wingdings.

"You really shouldn't talk to people like that, kid, but sense you physically can't say it differently, I'll let it slide" He commented, leading her to the path. There was a bridge across a chasm that lead to the path, cut the bridge was narrow and looked somewhat rickety.

"Wait until I'm across to pass the gate, kid. I'm not really sure if the bridge can support both of us at the same time" Sans said, quickly walking across it. Looking back at her from the other side, he explained to her, "Now It's your turn. If you managed to make it through the ruins, you should probably know how to make it not collapse on you" It was more of a joke than anything else. No bridge here actually broke unless you wanted it to break here, so the 'don't break it' part was more for comedy than anything else. Frisk seemed to know that to by the way she was glaring at him again.

"Don't pull the lever on your side" Frisk signed, doing her best to convey annoyance with a limited vocabulary available. Catching her meaning, Sans just grinned wider. She was so much fun to joke with. Anyone else would be screaming at him right now, well, anyone but her and Gaster. It was very difficult to yell when you physically couldn't speak. Unsuprisingly, she passed easily. Less expectedly, she didn't even communicate the 'I'm displeased with you' that was the closest you could get to yelling with only Wingdings. Even Gaster had done that after San's more tasteless jokes!

Frisk thought that a few jokes at her expence was the least of what she would let slide from someone who had already helped her so much. Sans was turning out to be very nice, at least in her opinion. Before she could tell him that, however, they both heard footsteps coming from behind the hill up ahead. Sans was quick to cover for her. "Quick, hide behind that conveniently shaped lamp" As Frisk rushed to do so, Sans suppressed a chuckle at how that lamp had come to be. Estimating from the glance he had seen of her by the door the other day and Toriel's descriptions, he had made that lamp yesterday in the exact correct shape to hide them. He wondered what the kid thought of it.

Frisk watched the scene that happened from behind the translucent lamp with no shortage of intrest. This was her life at risk, and she wanted to know more about the people that were most visibly a potential threat to their life.

"Sup, bro" Sans called out to the other. It seemed that the other figure approaching him was the brother that Sans had threatened her with earlier. That was all the more reason to observe them closely.

Sans chuckled as he saw the kid doing exactly what Sans had hoped they would do. This way, he could acclimate the human to Papyrus, and they might be willing to brighten up Papyrus's day.

"You know what's 'up' as you put it!" they yelled irritably. "Why haven't you recalibrated your puzzles? It's been over a week, and they still haven't caught any humans!"

"Have you ever thought that there just weren't any humans around to catch?" Sans questioned back.

"Ugg" Papyrus shouted with frustration. "What are you even doing here anyways?" he asked.

"Staring at that lamp. Do you want to too?" Sans offered, in an obvious attempt at reverse phycology. Frisk wondered if the other skeleton was gullible enough to fall for it.

"I don't have time" Papyrus exclaimed. "Unlike a certain lazy-bones I know all too well, I have puzzles to do. I actually want to be promoted into the royal guard. Just imagine, I, the great Papyrus, would wake up in a shower of kisses each morning. Monsters would want to be my friend, and I'll get recognition! If you want to be lazy, that's fine, but I, the great Papyrus, want more"

"Mabey the lamp will help you get that?" Sans asked. It was just to good of an in-joke to miss.

"Ugg, enough about the lamp! I will get back to my puzzles. I will be prepared when a human finally comes by. I will be the one to catch that last human and be a hero!" Papyrus shouted, declaring his wishes to the cavern's walls. "If you want to be pointless and not do anything that's your fault, but it won't catch me!"

"I have done work today, Bro. A whole skele-TON of work"

"Ugg, why don't you just try to get a job as a comedian with those stupid puns of yours instead of just slacking off here?"

"I already have a job as a comedian, Papyrus. I just got this one to" Sans justified.

"Is that why you keep being nearly late for my bedtime story!" Papyrus demanded. Frisk barely smothered a giggle. He was just so silly!

"Sorry bro, but wouldn't you rather have a bed to get that story in?" Sans defended himself.

"I hate it that your right" Papyrus stomped off before he could say anything else embarrassing.

He left just in time for Frisk to burst into laughter again. Sans was quick to walk over and make sure that they didn't start choking again. It took a whole ten minutes just to settle that laughter! Sans wasn't sure whether to be embarrassed or flattered at the long time it took for them to stop. When Frisk finally managed to stop laughing and regain her breath, she Sans decided to stick with flattered. "I see you weren't lying about 'kid' not being insult here" she managed to sign before doubling over in giggles again.
