Chapter Six
Trading Places

Shinto was arriving at the cursed castle and Kagome felt the ominous and demonic aura. There was an aura that was stronger than the rest of them and it was also the most fearsome.

"That must be Inuyasha's aura." Kagome thought. "I can feel the turmoil in his soul. His human side is trying to survive and it's slowly fading."

Kagome opened the gates so Shinto followed her through and she closed the gates. She headed to the castle doors and she opened them while Shinto waited for her outside. Once Kagome was inside, she felt all of the demonic auras in the castle and she actually felt safe with most of them.

"Most of the auras are benevolent. They even have children here. In fact, there is two of them watching me." Kagome thought. "Grandma Kaede's aura is fading slowly which means she's sick and she's dying."

Kagome began to follow her grandmother's fading aura as fast as she could and the demons that Kagome sensed earlier were following her with caution.

"How does she know where to go?" Shippo asked confused.

"The girl is a priestess like the older woman." Kohaku answered.

Kagome arrived to the dungeon and it was very dark. Her hand began to glow and she used the light as a guide. She began to hear coughing and it was her grandmother.

"Grandma Kaede! I found you." Kagome said relieved. "I'm here to rescue you."

"Kagome, what are you doing here?" Kaede asked shocked. "You must go, now!"

Kagome held Kaede's hand as she coughed and they were icicles.

"You're hands are like ice." Kagome said. "I have to get you out here."

"No Kagome. You must leave before he comes." Kaede said.

Kagome ignored Kaede and she began to use her powers to destroy the lock on the gate. Kagome destroyed the lock and she began to help Kaede to walk since she was so weak. Kagome began to use her powers again as a light and she began to feel the powerful aura moving towards them.

"Let's go grandma." Kagome said. "We're almost there."

"Kagome, you really are foolish and hard headed." Kaede said.

"I'm not leaving you here, grandmother and you're really stubborn to believe I would leave you here." Kagome said.

Kagome and Kaede were reaching the front door and she was smiling.

"Look Grandma Kaede the exit." Kagome said smiling.

All of a sudden, someone stood in there way and it was the powerful and strongest aura in the castle, Inuyasha. You couldn't see Inuyasha since he was hiding in the darkness. All you could do is feel the aura of anger.

"Where are you taking my prisoner?!" Inuyasha asked in anger.

Kagome put Kaede down and she went to face Inuyasha.

"Please let her go. She's sick and I need to attend to her medically." Kagome replied in a saddened voice. "She could die here if I don't hurry."

"She's so beautiful." Inuyasha thought. "Damn it! Concentrate!"

"She shouldn't have trespassed on my property!" Inuyasha said furious. "She may never leave!"

"I do not care what you say!" Kagome said sternly. "I will be taking her and there's nothing that you can do about it!"

"Either she's really brave or really stubborn." Shippo thought. "She's going to get herself killed."

"Get out of our way so I can't attend to my grandmother!" Kagome demanded.

Inuyasha began walk into the light and he began to show his beastly form. He had crimson eyes and blue eyes balls which were full of anger and hate. His fangs and claws were sharp and you can even smell the dried up blood on them. Kagome looked at him and she was not scared at all; however, Inuyasha's triangle ears caught her attention.

"Oh my… His ears are so adorable and I really wish I could touch them." Kagome thought with a serious face. "Gosh, why did we have to meet like this?"

Inuyasha noticed that she was feeling no fear and she smelled no fear from her which really impressed him.

"She's not scared of me and she didn't even cringe when she saw me." Inuyasha thought. "Could she be the one? No… NONE SENSE!"

"I'm not afraid of you." Kagome said fearless. "I have vanquished demons on my own that have been more terrifying than you. You're a puppy compared to them."

"Did I/me just call him/me a puppy?" Kagome and Inuyasha thought.

"Let us pass or you will regret it." Kagome said sternly.

"There's nothing you can do, little girl." Inuyasha said grinning.

Kagome waived her hand as it glowed and she burned his right arm with her spiritual powers as Inuyasha yelled in pain.

"Little bitch!" Inuyasha thought.

"Let us go now." Kagome demanded. "I can do far worse!"

"I'm not losing here." Inuyasha said as he grabbed Kagome right arm.

"Fine." Kagome said as she pulled away her arm from his grip. "If I take my grandmother's place, will you release her?"

"You would take her place…" Inuyasha replied a little surprised.

"No Kagome! I will not allow it!" Kaede said coughing. "I'm old and I have already lived my life. Please go."

"If I accept, you must promise to never leave." Inuyasha said.

"Agreed." Kagome said as she went to her grandmother.

"Kagome, quit being so foolish and stubborn." Kaede said. "Go and live your life."

"Don't worry about me." Kagome said. "It will be okay."

Inuyasha grabbed Kaede and he began to drag her away.

"Wait!" Kagome said as she reached out.

Inuyasha walked out of the castle as he dragged Kaede and Shinto began to go wild.

"No Shinto!" Kaede said. "Calm down boy."

"Where did this horse come from?" Inuyasha asked.

Kaede got up and she began to calm Shinto down. Inuyasha picked up Kaede and he began to take her to a carriage on a dragon's back. Inuyasha put Kaede in the carriage and he closed the door.

"Let me out please." Kaede said. "Let me see my granddaughter."

"Ah-Un, take her to the village and make sure that pesky horse follows you." Inuyasha said.

"Yes Lord Inuyasha." Ah-Un said as he bowed.

"Please I beg of you." Kaede said.

Ah-Un began to fly as he hypnotized Shino and he headed to the village and Shinto followed Ah-Un. Inuyasha went inside the castle and he closed the door just to see a very angry Kagome. Her aura began to surround her like they were flames and she began to walk towards Inuyasha. Kagome slapped Inuyasha's cheek as she burned it with her powers so he hissed in pain. Inuyasha held his face and it began to heal.

"I agreed to your terms of staying here and not leaving! You could have at least let me have a proper goodbye!" Kagome said with pain and anger. "You're so selfish and cruel!"

"Damn it!" Inuyasha thought.

Kagome's aura began to disappear as she was walking away from Inuyasha to go to the dungeons so he stopped her by blocking her way.

"Get out of my way please." Kagome said.

"Let me show you to your quarters." Inuyasha said.

"Why?" Kagome asked with a raised brow.

"You're not staying in the dungeon." Inuyasha replied as he turned around blushing. "Follow me."

Inuyasha started walking down the hall and he walked up to the main stairs of the castle. He headed to the north wing of the castle and it was a dark hallway. Inuyasha grabbed one of the candles and he used it to help him see down the halls. Well, mostly to help Kagome see since he can see in the dark.

"The castle is your home now so you can go any place you like except the west wing." Inuyasha said.

"What's in…" Kagome asked as he was cut off.

"That's none of your concern!" Inuyasha replied as he growled. "It's my personal space and I don't like to be bothered."

"Okay got it." Kagome said annoyed.

Inuyasha arrived to Kagome's quarters and there was someone standing at the door. It was a male cat demon with dark black hair, purple eyes, and two golden hoop earrings in each ear.

"What do you want, Miroku?" Inuyasha asked annoyed.

"Good evening Lady Kagome." Miroku said as he bowed and ignored Inuyasha.

"Did he just ignore me?" Inuyasha thought.

"My name is Miroku and I'm the head of the staff members here." Miroku said. "Please do not hesitate with any of your requests and we will gladly serve you."

"You know that this could have waited." Inuyasha said.

"Dinner will be ready soon and I hope that you will join us tonight." Miroku said ignoring Inuyasha. "Excuse me; I must make sure that dinner is going well."

Miroku bowed to Kagome and he left.

"He's bold." Kagome thought.

"That bastard." Inuyasha thought. "I'm so kicking his ass later."

Inuyasha opened the door so Kagome entered the room. A candle all of a sudden turned on and it lit up the room and she saw the room a lot better. The room was humongous and it was at big as her hut. The bed was a king size bed and it had a silk linen, pillow covers, and comforter. The walls had painting of different kinds and it had furniture as well.

"This will be your room from now on." Inuyasha said. "As Miroku stated, my staff will attend you with any request. I expect you at dinner."

Inuyasha closed the door and he went to get Miroku.

"She's such a beautiful woman." Inuyasha thought. "This will be more painful for me than it will for her."

In the room, Kagome finally broke down so she laid on the bed and she began to cry.

"I hope you make it safe and sound." Kagome thought as she cried. "I love you, guys. And I will miss you dearly."
