Chapter Six
It's been about a month since I was taken in by the Akatsuki. Honestly, I'm disappointed with how boring they can be. Sure, it was funny watching Kakuzu literally rip Hidan's head off for buying porn with money Hidan stole from him, and yeah, I laughed when Itachi threatened to cut Kisame up into little pieces and make sushi out of him. But other than that, nothing else has happened. I've been expecting attacks from other villages; S-class ninja's trying to infiltrate the base, exploding tags skillfully planted all around the outside of the mountain we were settled inside of.
Anything.
"Kisame," The blue man looks up from the book he was reading.
"Nani?"
"Let's go out or something. I'm bored." He set his book down, crossing his legs.
"What do you suppose we do?"
"I'm not quite sure. I've never been to Ame before." He blush slightly. Kisame grins at me cutely.
"I know just the place."
Kisame ends up taking me to a cute, little bakery.
"LOOK AT THIS, SO KAWAII."
Believe it or not, that was all Kisame.
I stare at the fish-shaped cookie.
"It looks like you." He gives out a bark of laughter, startling the store owner.
"Aw, look at this one!" I exclaim, pointing at a cupcake with icing in the shape of a cherry blossom.
"The icing matches your hair," He laughs softly. "Oh, wait, I have an idea!" Kisame walks over to the owner. They exchange a few words and he comes back.
"Let's buy a cake for the rest of the gang. It can be like, a surprise or somethin'." He shrugs, small smile on his blue face. I nod happily.
We buy a regular chocolate cake. Kisame grabs an icing tube and sets to work. I grab a red icing tube and try my best to replicate the Akatsuki logo. Finished, I outline it in white. I smile, proud of my work. Kisame looks and grins.
"Nice one, squirt." He pats my back. Kisame made little objects that symbolized each member. Konan was represented by an origami flower, and Itachi was represented by a raven. Just little things like that.
"These look really good Kisame." He blushes, his skin taking on a purple-ish color. I blink in surprise. Finished with the cake, we head back to the base. I store the cake in the fridge.
"I'll start dinner in about an hour." Kisame nods. I relax onto the couch beside the blue giant and rest against his arm. He moves his long arm around my shoulders casually. I smile, heat rising to my cheeks. Deidara walks into the room to grab a glass of water and spots us. He smirks.
"Already trying to corrupt her I see, Kisame?" The blonde grins evilly. The man in question rolls his eyes.
"Since when has it been wrong to have an arm around someone's shoulder?" He snaps back.
"It's been that way forever," Pein walks into the large room, announcing his presence. "Seeing as she is my imouto." He glares at the giant shark. Kisame gulps, arm moving to his side. I blush in embarrassment.
"Aniki," I mumble. "Please, don't embarrass me. He wasn't doing anything wrong." I cast a shy smile. Pein huffs.
"Fine." He grumbles, sulking over to the same couch Kisame and I were sitting on, purposely plopping between us.
"Kisame!" Pein coos, leaning against Kisame's shoulder. Said person tenses up.
"Pein!" I yell, upset. "What are you doing?"
"If Kisame thinks he can touch my imouto," Pein continues. "Then he'll have to go through me first!" I give him a look of confusion.
"Are you drunk?" He stays silent.
"You're fucking drunk."
"No, no, no..." He mutters, leaning up against Kisame still. I pull him off the couch and walk him back to his room.
"Saaaaaakuuura-chaaaan~" He groans.
"No, Pein. Just go lay down in bed. I'll grab you a glass of water, and then I'll cook dinner." I pat him on the head, having to go on my tippy toes. He falls in bed, ungracefully and shifts around. I roll my eyes.
"Why were you drinking?"
"I'm sad Sakura." I blink.
"Sad? Why are you sad Pein-nii?" I sit down beside him on his bed.
"I-I feel like I've failed you." He mumbles into his pillow.
"How? You've been nothing but kind to me. You've always protected me. Like from Otou-san-" His sobbing cuts me off. I grab Pein and pull him into a hug. I held onto him as if my life depended on it, trying to soothe him by rubbing patterns on his back. His bright orange hair disrupts my vision, and I feel his arms tighten their hold around me.
The crazed leader of the infamous band of ninjas dubbed Akatsuki, was breaking down right before my eyes.
