Tossing Our Hearts.
Chapter. 6.
Forbidden Amor.
APOV.
I silently drummed my fingers over the steering wheel, trying to keep myself entertained for the short car trip home, while Bella was asleep in the backseat, snuggling with her newly found friend Lacey.
I've got to give it to that kid, from the few hours ago that they'd met, Bella fell instantly inlove with her, but with an angel face like that, I don't see how she couldn't.
As I drove on the silent night's road, I stared out into the stars, each one burning out across the sky, shining brighter than the one next to it, a gentle smile slowly made it's way across my face.
The stars reminded me of Bella, not that she herself was burning out across the night sky, but that she had her own individual shine, it was nothing like anyone else's, in fact it was the ultimate shine I'd ever seen, except Bella chose not to use it very often, though when she did, it blew everyone away.
Just the tiny spark of hope she carries in her eyes, the feeling she gives people with her smile, it makes your heart jump, it's something special.
She used her shine tonight, I was proud of her for that, it was the selflessness and the faith she gave those kids, who'd lost everything, it definitely wasn't just a small gesture to them.
"Bella?" I whispered softly into the back of the car.
Her head twigged at the calling of her name, and carefully tilted up, her eyes fluttered sleepy.
"Alice." a yawn escaped her mouth.
I smiled, peering back and forth from the road to her face.
"I love you." I pressed on just a little.
"I love you too, Al." her voice broke and she rested her head back against the seat, tucking her arms tighter around Lacey.
"I love you more." my hand reached back, touching the top of her knee. "sleep tight."
It took no more than 10 minutes to reach the house after Bella'd fallen back asleep, there wasn't a single car on the road, which made it easier to race through.
I pulled up outside the house, all lights were on and Esme and Carlisle had gone out for a hunt, leaving Edward, Emmett and Rosalie home.
I glanced back over to Bella and Lacey, taking the time to appreciate the cute moment they were sharing.
"Bella?" I asked again.
No reply. I figured they were both dead asleep, after the long night they'd had.
I jumped out of the car and skipped over to her side, opening the door and sitting on the seat beside her, my arms wrapped around her body, carefully holding her to my chest, with Lacey in hers.
I bent my face down and kissed the top of her forehead, as I took them both inside, tip-toeing so I couldn't wake them.
My foot pushed the door open, leading them inside, loosing my grip just a little, the last thing I wanted to do was bruise or hurt her.
As I walked inside, Edward was propped up on the couch, reading one of the novels from his Civil War book collection, his face didn't move a fraction as we creeped inside, I guessed he'd go see Bella after I laid her down anyway.
As we moved up the staircase, Emmett and Rosalie lent against the rails, Rosalie's chin rested up against it, as Emmett towered over her.
"Good job there, Alice." Rosalie rolled her eyes, giggling to herself as Emmett twisted his fingers through her curls.
I laughed unvoiced to myself, sometimes it would bother me, when Rosalie would act like that, as if I was the only one helping out a human, when really, she and I both knew that no matter the circumstance, we'd both give our lives for Bella.
"Thank you, Rosalie, be sure to keep it down tonight." I winked subtly at the two of them, who now had their tongues down each others throat.
Some could call that cute.
I paced up the stairs, turning on queue to my bedroom, closing the door behind us, before Edward or.. Emmett and Rosalie for that matter, could peer in.
They needed the least bit of privacy, if that's the least you could have in this house.
I laid Bella down cautiously on the side of my bed, Lacey rolled out of Bella's arms and cuddled up onto one of the new pillows that Esme had flown in from France.
I was quick to the beat, picking up the throw rug that was on the end of my bed and flicking it out above the two, so it would slowly float down over them.
The clock read 12:09, I nodded slowly, listing in my head all the things I had to do tomorrow.
After a few seconds, I tucked the blanket over Bella and Lacey.
"Goodnight, sweetie." I hummed, kissing Lacey's cheek.
I moved around to Bella's side, sitting gently on the edge, moving a strand of her from her face.
"and goodnight, my gorgeous Bella." my grin played over my face, as I leaned down to reach for a kiss on her cheek, my lips suddenly urged toward hers, I pressed against them tenderly.
Her lips were soft and silky, her skin smelt like a smoky vanilla, and she tasted like heaven.
I instantly pulled back, holding my hand over my mouth.
I'd touched her lips, I'd kissed her lips, her lips are suppose to this.. Forbidden idea.
Quickly all the memories of Edward's long desperate stories of how badly he wanted Bella to be his, rushed back.
It was just a kiss, I told myself, just a kiss, just a small moment of passion.
But it didn't feel like that, it felt much more.
I wanted more.
I needed more.
Where was all this coming from?
Bella isn't even awake, could I imagine what she'd think if she'd heard my thoughts at this moment.
My thoughts.. Edward..
My hands lifted me from the bed, as I hurried out of the bedroom, rushing down the staircase, passing everyone in seconds, and out the front door.
I kept racing until my mind started to settle down, I rested my back against a random tree, and breathed in and out.
I repeated her name over in my head, Bella Swan… my smile came back to life.
