A/N: Okies so I've decided to continue the Fire Emblem story because honestly I hate quitting on stuff and I really liked how it was going :D!
Notes: In the last chapter I forgot to add the extra two soldiers so I will add them in this one :D Also usually most things will be from 'Alixina's' P.o.V unless I say it ends of something, just to clear up anything
Overview: It was madness and every waking minute it never changed. In one day her world turned upside down and simple innocence was replaced by hardening fear and anger. In all of it though will something bloom or will it swallow a once innocent girl before her time?
Chapter 4: Tides of War (Part 2)
(Alixina's P.o.V end)
'Something isn't right here...' Looking around, brown eyes scanned down the hallways, a prickling sensation of fear at the nape of her neck. 'I swear something was supposed to happen right here.' Biting the tip of her fingernail, Alixina started to move closer to the prince for safety.
"Are you alright?" Narrowing his eyes, Ephraim tried to figure out what was going through the tacticians head.
"Honestly, no. Something doesn't feel right here and I can't figure out what it is..." Fear pooled in her stomach fast as she couldn't remember for dear life what was bothering her.
'That's no good.' "The others need to be alerted then, it would do no good for them to wander into danger." Reading his lance for any possible enemies that may appear, Ephraim pulled the timid girl along with him down the corridor to where the knights were.
"Forde!"
"One moment my liege." Driving his lance through the foot soldiers skull, he pulled it free before whipping it around and throwing it to impale the shaman through his eye socket.
Covering her mouth, Alixina turned away from the sight in favor of keeping what little food she had down. "Oh that is so sick."
"How many are left Forde?"
"A good bit prince, they're starting to pair and group up." Trotting over on his horse, Forde flicked the blood on the ground below them to clean off his spear.
"Alright. Alixina?" Turning to the young woman, blue eye brows furrowed when he saw the color drain from the young woman's face.
"Yes?" Controlling her gag reflex, she turned to the two men before her, ignoring the blood staining the ground.
"Do you know what units are around the bend?"
"Soldier with an axe, the priest over the wall, a soldier and knight..." A horse's neigh cut her off and all three of them turned to see one galloping up the hall they were in.
"That's Kyle's horse!" Hopping off his own, Forde rushed over to the spooked mare to try and tame it before he could hurt anyone. "Easy there girl!"
"Stay here and try to help Forde out, I'm going to see what's going on right now." Leaving the two of them by themselves, Ephraim took down the hall where the horse had came from. Rounding the corner, quick reflexes saved him from getting a spear jabbed through his head. Raising his own lance, Ephraim wasted no time thrusting it through the torso of the soldier and ripping it free from him. "Bastard." Looking down at the dead soldier, disgust and anger rose to his throat as blank eyes stared back up at him. 'This war is unnecessary! So many people have died... But for what reason?'
"Prince Ephraim!"
"Kyle!" Looking up, he saw the green haired knight trying to hold off two soldiers on his own. Rushing to aid his friend, quick work was made of the lance but the axe wielder had retreated and a knight took his place instead. '"Oh no..." Before he could even rush over, a javelin flew past him, managing to graze his arm. "What the-!?" Pain flared up as a larger lance caused the small graze to open into a gash. Pivoting on his heel to deal with the soldier, Ephraim barely had time to bring up is lance to block a sword that threatened to split his skull in two. As he parried and fought off the two soldiers, one thought crossed his mind briefly. 'Where is Orson!?'
"Dammit!" Lunging to the floor, Kyle barely had time to gather his bearings before he rolled to the side to avoid an axe to the face. Bumping into the wall, he scrambled to rise to his feet in order to properly defend himself. Clutching his sword, tightly, sweat rolled down his face as brown eyes stared down at the knight and axe wielder. His lance was lying a few feet away but attempting to get it could lead to a swift decapitation.
"What's wrong Renais dog? Scared?"
Kyle bit the inside of his cheek as the two soldiers mocked him. 'Bastards.' Clutching the weapon tightly, Kyle readied himself to fight to the death if need be.
"Incoming!"
A javelin flew in front of the green haired knight, confusing the two red armor soldiers long enough for Kyle to strike down the axe user and start working on the heavily armored knight.
"Scoundrel! You will die to Grado's might!"
"Not today he won't!"
Heat flared up, causing the knight to hiss as the temperature in his armor rose.
"Kyle catch!" Hopping off his horse, Forde picked up the steel lance and threw it to his friend.
Catching the spear, he jammed it into one of the openings into the armor.
"Ah! You bastard!" Those were the last words the knights uttered before a sword drove straight through his head.
"Finally." Wiping the sweat, Kyle looked up and was surprised to see their tactician riding up on his horse with Forde and Prince Ephraim behind her. "Are any of you hurt?"
"Couple of scratches but I'll live." Helping Alixina down off the horse, Ephraim turned to the stoic knight with a smile.
"That's not amusing Prince Ephraim." Cracking a small smile himself, Kyle went over to his horse, grateful that she was now calm. "Is she alright?"
"Perfectly fine buddy, couldn't figure out what spooked her though." Running his fingers through the mare's mane, the fire tome on the saddle caught Forde's eye. "Alixina... Is this yours?"
Noticing the fire tome, Kyle turned to the young woman who currently had her attention somewhere else. "Alixina?"
"Hmm?"
"Is this your fire tome?"
"Oh!" Rushing over to get it, she missed the look shared between the three men.
"How did you..."
"... I had to take it off the dead mage's body." Clutching the tome to her chest, silence permeated the air.
"You... what? When?" Ephraim was more shocked that she actually touched a dead soldier more than she stole the weapon he previously used.
"When I was in the room getting the items. You turned for a second and I slipped it into my bag. When I saw Kyle needed help I pulled it out and I just used a spell."
"There they are!"
The four of them turned to see soldiers racing down the hallway to them.
"I hope you can use that tome effectively." Mounting his horse, Kyle gave Forde back his javelin and readied his lance.
"You're not the only one here." Opening the tome, arcane texts translated themselves before her eyes.
"No time to think on it now, here they come." Steeling himself, Ephraim still wondered where Orson had wandered off to.
A/N: First time writing in a long while so please forgive the crappy stuff here. Before anyone jumps on my case, I will explain how Alixina can read the tome text later in the next chapter. Hope you all are safe and have a nice day!
