The Split-Chapter 6
Me: Hey, everyone! Wow! The views really skyrocketed after the last chapter!
Yug: They must really like this story.
Yami: Does that mean you are going to upload more often?
Me: I'm thinking about it! By the way, I'm going to try a little something different with this chapter.
Yami: And that would be?
Me*sly wink*: You're going to have to read to find out!
Yugi: Before we get started, she doesn't own Yu-Gi-Oh! or its characters. Please read and review!
Anzu POV
"Owowowowow…" I winched as the final bandage was pulled off with a gentle yank, and looked into the mirror. Despite the small line across my cheek, you couldn't even tell that I had been attacked…but if that was the truth, then why did I have more injuries that one who was mugged? I was released from the hospital the day before last, along with Yugi and the Spirit of the Milennium Puzzle.
***Flashback Begins***
"Alright, Ms. Mazaki, you are free to go," the nurse smiled as I returned the hospital robe after changing into fresh clothes. "Just make sure to change your bandage every morning for the next few days."
Thanking the kind nurse, I opened the door to find Yugi and Yami waiting in the hallway. "You guys are getting released too?"
Yugi nodded, smiling widely, nudging the Spirit, who had been lost in space. "Oh, yes, we are."
***Flashback Ends***
We parted after that, heading our separate ways. My phone beeped as the screen flashed an envelope. It was a text message from Yugi!
Hey, Anzu! I managed to get some tickets for a Broadway production! You like "Wicked", right? Want to go with us?
"No way! Tickets to Wicked?!" Those tickets weren't supposedly sold old last week!
The ringing of my cell phone, caused me to jump. I didn't recognize the number and hesitated, thinking about letting it go to voicemail. "This is Mazaki Anzu speaking."
Unknown POV
"Excuse me,"
A shadowed figure is seen turning their chair to face a marble desk the length of a bus. "What is it?"
"She has accepted the offer and is boarding the next flight available."
The figure nods. "Very good, very good indeed. Make sure that they are there to pick her up."
"Of course."
Everything was going according to plan. The girl had been released from the hospital without complications, and now was home. "But not for long…"
Yugi POV
"Yugi?"
I looked up from checking my phone for the umpteenth time as Yami walked in. "Nothing from Anzu yet?"
I shook my head. "Not a peep for the past eight days. I'm starting to get worried."
I was sure that she had been jumping in excitement. Gramps had been given the tickets by an old friend of his and the show was on top of Anzu's "Most Wanted to See Broadway Musicals" list. So why hadn't she responded?
"Yami! Yugi! Come down here, please!" Gramps yelled from the store.
"We'll be right down!" I yelled back, sliding off my bed.
Yami chuckles as we descend the stairs. "How much you want to bet its challenger?"
Nodding in agreement, I rolled my eyes as we entered the den. "That or a fangirl."
"There you boys are. Take a look at this."
We leaned forward and looked at the TV screen that was hidden underneath the register. People were dancing as an announcer was speaking about a new competition that was coming soon. It allowed people to pick from a pool of contestants and attempt to choreograph to a song chosen by the judges. For the group being shown, the music was from a group called Cascada, and it was something that Anzu would have been very interested in.
"They say that the front dancer there will be the one being judged on their singing, dancing, leadership, and choreographic abilities." Gramps pointed to the dancer instructing the others. "My eyes aren't as young as they used to be, but for a second I thought that she looked like Anzu. Silly old me."
I felt my eyes widen as the front dancer paused, stepping away from the group to speak to them. She had chocolate brown hair that was pulled up in a ponytail and was wearing a dark blue spaghetti strap with bleached shorts. Her movements and proportions suggested that she had been dancing for most, if not all, of her life, and it was obvious that the other dancers respected her.
"Yami…"
"I see her too…"
We looked at each other, then back at the screen in shock as the date of the performance flashed across the screen. "TOMORROW?!"
"BOYS! NO YELLING IN THE STORE!"
"LOOK WHO'S THE ONE TALKING!" I yelled back, slightly shaking with shock.
"BOTH OF YOU, SHUT UP!" Yami roared, slapping the counter, causing us to jump.
Thinking fast, I grabbed Yami by the arm and pulled him upstairs to our room. We had to work fast.
Hours Later
"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea..."
"Now you're second guessing your plan?!" Yami whispered back, ducking behind a curtain. "I can't believe you woke me up at 3 am and booked us flights to New York!"
"What are we supposed to tell Gramps when he finds out we're gone?"
"We can't worry about that right now!" Yami shushed, clamping a hand over my mouth as a person paused, backtracking, and spotting us.
"I found them!" He shouted into his talkie as he walked toward us.
"Busted..." we mumbled.
We've been looking for you two!" The person grabbed us by the arms and began propelling us out of the theatre and toward a trailer. "You guys haven't done makeup or done your hair yet! Get going!"
I stumbled through the door, nearly falling on my face, and was caught by a pair of hands. Looking up, I felt my stomach tighten. This chick looked like Lady Gaga meets a demented circus! Her huge afro (cotton candy pink with yellow tips) was shaped into a spiral, her skin was chocolate brown, and her gold eyes popped out from the neon green eye shadow and bangs she sported.
"There you are, luv" she spoke, her Australian accent thick and heavy. "You're hair is wicked, but I can make it better. Let's get started!"
"No, wait! This is a mistake!" I heard Yami protest as she placed us in chairs and set to work.
I held perfectly still as she forced a thin comb through my thick hair, none too gentle either. With Yami out of my line of vision, I began to worry as sounds of a struggle was heard. I flinched, my eyes closing, as a loud smack and grunt were heard. It was silent for a little while, making my stomach twist in unease. Bright red spots swam across my eyes as something poked their lids.
"Alight, boys, you're done." She turned us toward the mirror and our jaws dropped.
Our once gold bangs were now as cerise as Yami's eyes, and mine were sticking up in the same way his were. The bright red liner made my violet eyes pop, and Yami's cerise eyes really popped from the lime green eye liner that was used on him. The emerald green hair band made my hair stick up oddly in various places,
"Costume time!" She shoved us into a giant walk-in closet. "Your costumes are to your left! Curtain's in 10!"
We looked at each other. "We are so in over our heads." we chorused, grabbing the garments. They looked like...gangster/gothic clothing. I latched a spiked choker around my neck as Yami hooked a few loose chains between the belt loops of his black leather pants. Pulling on the black cargo pants, I chuckled as he held up a pair of matching black leather harnesses with large fashionable silver buckles and looked at me in confusion.
The harness fit like a loose vest over his emerald green tank, giving it a metro-like feel and chinking softly with every movement he made. It didn't look half bad on him. My outfit, on the other hand, was a different story. The cut-off blood red shirt that closely matched my eyeliner made me look like a walking blood vessel with an exploding end!
"Let me make a modification really quick, luv." I jumped as the makeup woman grabbed a pair of scissors and grabbed the front of my shirt, placing a few slashes here and there. "Much better. Now put a black or dark green tank underneath."
I followed her instructions after she left, and turned to face the mirror. Maybe she knew what she was doing after all, I thought. A glint in the corner of my eye caught my attention. "Oh yea, what are we supposed to do about our duel disks?"
Yami studied his vest in the mirror, twisting this way and that. "What about somehow attaching them to these harnesses?"
Picking mine up, he turned me, and began fiddling with the buckle and straps near the small of my back. I observed his actions, memorizing them, so that if the time came I could easy get to it. "Let's just have monster cards, that way if we do put on a show it will be quick."
"As if we are going to put on a show..." I heard Yami mumble as I attached his.
"Alright, gang bosses, you're on in 2!" The same guy from before grabbed our arms and pulled us from the trailer, placing headsets on our heads. "Remember, if you lose your step or forget your line, use your headsets! The song will be playing on stage through the speakers near your feet and a choreographer will help you keep pace. Break a leg!"
Yami POV
The stage was crawling with people in black and various other garments, but our attention was focused on finding one person in particular. A stage hand placed me on a green light as Yugi was placed on an orange light about 12 feet apart, a lone red light was coming from the center of the square-shaped hole that was between us.
"Poses, everyone! 5 seconds until curtain!" a voice chirped over my headset. "Just relax and follow my instructions!"
Everything fell silent, as if Anubis had claimed all their souls, and the air became hazy with fog. A soft whirling sound to my right caught my attention. Turning, I blinked as a shadowed figure appeared on the platform rising from the dark depths. The scent of cinnamon and apples drifted past me as the shadowed figure's arm outstretched.
***Cue "Au Revior" by Cascada***
Music blared from our feet as she raised her hands and rested them on my shoulders. "Everything you say is so predictable," she waved her fingers in my face.
"Raise your left hand until it is level with your ear, the elbow pointed up!" the voice in my headset chirped as she turned to Yugi. "Bend at the hip until your right leg is fully extended while bending your left leg slightly!"
"Your words don't mean a thing!"
I was already confused. Helpless, I looked to Yugi, and my jaw dropped. He was moving his arms and feet to the music at a steady and remarkable pace! I almost missed the look he gave me as he half-turned to his right; one that issued a challenge.
"Blah blah blah!"
A smirk found its way to my lips. If he wanted a challenge, then a challenge is what he will get! I watched him for a few more seconds, finding his rhythm, then thrusted my arms across my face as he did.
"Why the masquerade?"
I swept my left arm upward, waving my right finger as she pushed Yugi's shoulder. "You think you're funny but you never entertain."
I found myself being turned and fingers brushing my lips. Her sapphire eyes twinkled brightly in excitement as she leaned close, sending shivers down my spine as she sang "I'll never be your appetizer melting on your tongue."
Her hands suddenly pushed against my upper half, bending me at the waist, as she turned back to Yugi with a twirl and repeating the action. "Here's the simple truth, boy, you just don't turn me on."
Bracing my hands on the floor and drawing my knees to my chest, I sprung back to my feet as she side stepped to my side. "So you think you're something special?"
"And you claim to be the next best movie star?" She grabbed us by the front of our shirts and brought us into her, our bodies dangerously close to grinding. "I don't buy your show! Au Revior!"
My arms flailed as she thrusted me away, knocking me off my feet. Another dancer's hands picked me up off the floor before sliding away to elsewhere. "Nice move! That looked authentic!" the voice chirped. "Get ready! Here's the tricky one!"
"Always center stage, not ashamed to say you're fishing for the fame!" I locked eyes with her as she nearly growled, strutting up to me and encircling me in a tight circle, never breaking eye contact as she wrapped an arm around my shoulders from behind and dragging me to do the do the same to Yugi."Boy you're not a saint, not irresistible in any kind of way!"
We found ourselves sliding on our stomachs toward the audience as she threw us away from herself. I scrambled backwards as various hands reached for me, only to run into a few other dancers as they crowded the front of the stage. Anzu, appearing from the middle in a black and gold lace corset with a bedazzled black skirt swishing around her knees, caressed each dancer's face until she got to mine.
I felt my chest tighten as she leaned toward me, gently taking my face in her hand and rubbing a thumb over my cheek. "I'll never be your appetizer melting on your tongue." My breath caught as her skirt swished in my face as she turned to Yugi, wafting me with her scent. "Here's the simple truth, boy, you just don't turn me on."
Her hand fell away from our faces and instead rested on her hips as she swayed them in my direction as I leaned backward. "So you think you're something special?"
"And you claim to be the next best movie star?" My face heated up as he sent me a wink as her hips swayed in his direction. "I don't buy your show!"
"Get ready to go crazy!" My eyes locked on Yugi's, a smirk on my face. I had no idea what the voice meant, but if they wanted a show, why not? Yugi seemed to be thinking the same thing, his hand reaching behind his back.
"Au Revior!"
"GO!"
Throwing my left arm out, activating my duel disc, I drew my first card and played it as we leaped away from the other dancers. Celtic Guardian burst forth in a shower of color, charging toward Yugi. He swung his sword as Des Feral Imp appeared, shattering it in pieces, earning cheers from the audience. Yugi summoned Winged Guardian of the Fortress next, matching mine in strength.
I smiled as I glanced at my next card and placed it on my disk. In a flurry of pink heart shaped bubbles, Dark Magician Girl appeared, blowing kisses out to the crowd as she destroyed his dragon. We each drew until we had 5 monsters on the field and simultaneously attacked, blinding the audience with the explosions. After repeating this cycle three times, making sure we were keeping beat with the music, Yugi sent me a look that told me that our time in the spotlight was closing, and that meant we needed to end our duel…fast.
My Dark Magician Girl had survived the onslaughts, winking and blowing kisses at the audiences after each wave and earning a round of applause mixed with wolf whistles. I pulled my last four cards and summoned Dark Magician, Magician of Black Chaos, Black Luster Soldier, and Summoned Skull. Once Yugi summoned his Dark Red Enchanter, Swift Gia the Fierce Knight, Silver Fang, and Koumori Dragon, we ordered them to attack each other simultaneously.
As I was returning my disk to its place, I watched in awe as Anzu became visible, dancing exotically and erotically amongst the fog that had been generated. "Let's keep it confidential, boy, you wanna show the world how cool you are? No, no potential! I don't buy your show!" The way she thrusted and swayed her hips made heat flood my lower half, blood pounding in my ears as she stopped in front me, wrapping an arm around my neck as her leg rubbed mine.
"So you think you're something special?" she sang softly, her other hand stroking my chin and placing my hands on her waist before turning and bringing Yugi towards her, trapping herself between us. "And you claim to be the next best movie star?"
The heat of her body against mine was making it hard to concentrate, flooding my mind's eye with a fire colored deep red. Her scent was intoxicating, driving me insane as her hair tickled my face gently. Her head fell back, resting against my shoulder, exposing her neck to me, as if begging for a caress.
"I don't buy your show!" She suddenly pushed us down to our knees as she took a step back, flourishing her hand. "Au Revior!"
Me*shyly fidgeting*: Well? How did I do?
Yugi*blinking*:…
Yami*blinking*:…
Me*blinking, then downcast*: Was it really that bad? I revised it over three times…oh well.*look up* Let me know what you think, please and thank you!
