Chapter 5
I'm soooooooo sorry for not posting a new chapter for the past two months! I've been so busy with band and my first semester at high school, but I'm so glad that finally have time to do more writing again. Also, I have news that I already have started a new story based on the anime Attack On Titan, but I decided to finish this one first cause this is my first story and i dont want to abandon it all of a sudden. So I'll do all I can to write with all the freetime I have and finish this story as fast as I can. For now, here's Chapter 5! Please no flames. :)
When I opened my eyes, it was very dark. It was as dark as the night when I go outside of my coven. Even if I look left and right, it would be all black for miles. And it felt like I was floating in the air as if I was the first ghost in stage one of hell.
Before I could react, I suddenly felt the floor tough my feet below me and I wasn't floating anymore.
"Hello?" I said to the darkness, letting it echo. Where am I? Is this heaven or hell? Heaven would be all colorful and bright, but this isn't what I expected to be my kind of hell either. I was confused about where I am, but what I did know is that my wounds are gone and my shoulders are as good as new.
How did I get here? Did I overdid myself when I fought? Did it result me in ending up here? I don't even know what happened to me back there. Something snapped inside me and it felt like…madness. Things like this I would expect since I do them all the time at my days in my old coven, but this…this is different.
Suddenly, I heard and felt a rumble beneath my feat. I looked down and I saw the dark ground growing cracks in the ground. Only they were glowing bright green, blue, and red, and more cracks grew quicker by the minute as I tried to carefully walk away from it like thin ice. I got so scared about falling that I didn't even run. Though it was too late for me to react. The multicolored cracks finally broke and they began letting me fall into a different color of endless miles.
Everything was white, but it helped bringing the color from the shards of glass that are the same colors as the ground before it broke. As I fell, I suddenly looked through the shards of glass to see four cloaked figures flying in midair. Two of them were in blue cloaks with white streaks, one of them was wearing all black with blood dripping all over itself, and the shortest and last figure was streaked with blue, black, and red. I was scared for what I saw, especially that they all quickly came up to my face within a flash. And when things got more odd, the shards stopped falling and disappeared, leaving only me and the figures the only things in the white room.
I started hyperventilating as I was flying in midair again, knowing nothing or no one will help me. Why am I scare of these people? I'm never scared of anything. At least was.
"Who are you?" I asked, my voice trembling.
Wanting this to not be real, the one with the blue and white cloak came up to me as soon as I asked this. It raised a hand up to me and touched my face. I would picture its hand with long fingernails and letting it scratch my face like any monster or demon would do to an innocent person, but it was actually smooth as my quilts and it didn't hurt me at all.
"Incredible," said the figure, ignoring my question. It's voice sounding soothing as a feminist, but it sounded strangely familiar. "She is much like us."
"Much like what?" I asked, trembling again as the cloaked woman took her hand away.
She just stood there after that. Every single part of her still didn't move even as she replied. It could be like she's part of the dead. "You are much more powerful than you think, Hale. You're not a vampire. Well, not just a vampire. Your just like us, but there's something special about you."
She suddenly grabbed my face again and turned it to let her face my neck. I started breathing heavily again. I want this to stop. Why can't anybody come help me? "And I need to know how it's possible for you."
Before I could give a reply, she moved her head towards my neck and I felt a pair of fangs run deep into my skin. More blood dripped down my shoulder and I felt the bite in my brain. I screamed, but that didn't make her stop so I punched her abdomen with my knee and she pulled back with a strong groan.
The blood-covered black hooded figure and the blue, black, and red figure helped her up. When the cloaked feminine regained her strength, she stood up again and looked at me. Instead of being mad as myself when I attacked that lycan, she simply smiled. I couldn't see her face because of her hood, but I knew she was smiling at me because I could feel it.
Before I could react, the pain in my neck began to increase and I couldn't stay awake anymore. My eyes rolled up to my head and as always, everything around me turned black again.
—
I gasped as I opened my eyes and a person backed away from me. Selene. Of course it would be her.
Her eyes were now bright blue like a vampire instead of brown as of a vampire and her lips are covered with blood. My blood.
I looked down at my shoulder and I could see that the wound is back. You can still see the flesh and the bite marks are a new trend to my unnatural skin. At least I stopped dripping my tears of blood and the wounds on my cheeks hurt less than before. Only the pain in my shoulder remains.
I then felt a bump under the floor beneath us and I knew that we were in a van. Without facing Selene since my blood is hanging from her face and it makes me sick just by looking at it, I looked at my wound and spoke. "Where am I? At least where are you taking me?"
I didn't hear a reply and suddenly I don't even want to hear one, but I thought this too late when Selene said something. "Hale, look at me."
I shook my head and closed my eyes. I don't want to look at her. But I felt her cold hand on my chin and she began to turn my face toward a different direction. Even though she changed my direction, I still didn't open my eyes.
"Hale, come on. Open your eyes."
I didn't want to open my eyes still, but I suddenly felt my eyes opening without my command. I wanted to close my eyes again, but I have two reasons why I can't. One, I tried to but it was like my eyes were frozen, and two, I looked at Selene's face and my blood isn't hanging on her mouth anymore. She must've wiped it off when I woke up to her face, feeling like I've been traumatized by her.
Glad that my disgusting blood was off her face, I held my head high and faced Selene. "Answer my question again. Where are you taking me?"
I would picture her being scared of me already from my serious voice, but her face was solemn as ever. "We knew that something was wrong with you since you're weren't healing from that bite since yesterday so we decided to try and find a safe place nearby to hide all of us. Hopefully."
Yesterday? I've been out for an entire day? I ignored that fact and focused on my wound. "Well, you should know that I'm still young and I can't even heal yet." I then decided to add another thing to stretch out my reason. "But it doesn't hurt anymore."
I hope Selene could buy my stupid lie, but it was stupid enough for her to notice it is a lie. "It can't be that better already. You still need help on that bite."
I couldn't help but sigh and roll my eyes. "Alright, fine." I tried crossing my arms, but the pain suddenly came back in my shoulder and I felt more blood coming down my shoulder again. Selene then came closer to me and set my arms apart and left me breathing heavily.
"It's alright," her voice soothed. "Just relax and try to breathe normally."
I did what she told me to and breathed normal instead of a fast past as I looked at my shoulder again. I felt the pain coming up to my head, but I tried to stay strong as Selene told me to.
"Selene?" I asked as I turned to face her again, feeling as if it's rusty.
"Yes?" Her voice sounded compassionate and quiet at the same time. It was soothing, yet like always, solemn.
"Why did you bite me while I was knocked out?"
Her face was shocked like how I told her her name. Only her eyes were glowing in the invisible sunlight as she looked at me. Finally, after a while, she spoke. "I needed to know where you came from. It may sound unusual, but when I look at you, I feel like I've… met you before or known you."
I'm now frozen from what she said. She understands what I'm feeling when I see her, Michael, and Eve. Should I tell her that that's what I'm feeling? I should.
I was about to tell her, but something stopped and now it changed my words. "Huh, that's weird. Did you see anything in there?"
She shook her head. "No, I've seen you with your life in your coven, but that didn't seem to help."
I ignored what she said and fought myself in my head. Why didn't I tell her that I felt the same reaction with her and the others? What's wrong with me right now? It feels like my head is hitting my every word in itself and making sure that it won't escape from my mouth. First my uncontrollable actions, now this.
Me and Selene were quiet the entire ride. It felt like eternity and I felt awkward as she stared at the ceiling of the metal van. It was like, as if, she was glistening in almost darkness. Her eyes were shining and so was her very short hair.
I wish I could understand why I'm feeling this way. Why does Selene feel important to me? Did I knew her and the others when I was small? But most importantly…why do I feel controlled when I see her, Michael, or Eve?
When I wish that I want to stop thinking, the van made a complete stop, and me and Selene made serious faces at each other before the van opened and we both saw Michael at the door.
"Is she still bleeding?" He asked, his voice sounding innocent. Only he found the answer when he turned to me and saw my shoulder still bleeding with leftover flesh hanging.
Selene didn't answer, knowing that Michael already knows the answer, and she began to carry my good arm around her neck. "Help me get her out of here."
Michael nodded and helped me get out of the van without trying to touch my ruined arm, which he didn't do a good job on. At least it was nighttime. As Selene and Michael helped me out of the van, I saw David and Eve waiting for instructions probably.
"Mum, me and David found an abandoned house. We could help Hale out over there." She then pointed to a dark part of land, meaning for it to have a nearby house.
Nobody replied to Eve and we all moved to the direction she pointed to. It only took a few minutes, but we reached the house even though it blended right in with the dark color. When we reached the porch, David already opened the door for all of us to enter.
I was very manipulated by the old house. I could see that it's made out of wood entirely and it was smoothed out neatly, along with it being painted a very unique color that must be mixed with purple and green.
"Where do we put Hale?" David asked as we entered the den, looking at worried as Wyatt when he screamed about the lycans being in the coven… it's best if I don't mention it now or, better yet, ever.
Without trying not to think about my lost coven, I looked to see Michael and Selene looking around the house to try and find a place to set me down. I really can't believe it took them this long to realize that there's an old couch in front of us since we are in the den.
"Here," Selene said as she and Michael set me down on the couch. The dust flew off the couch and it went into my flesh in my shoulder. I groaned when I tried not to show any agony and failed.
Selene jumped over the couch from the other side and faced me as she knelt down. "It's alright, Hale. Just keep breathing and we'll do the best we can to fix your wound."
I nodded, not trying to tell her that I'm not a stupid child and that I can handle it herself. I understand that she and her assets are trying to help me, but it feels like she's pushing too hard to help me. She's starting to act like my late mom.
Instead of being the mommy of me like I thought she would, Selene turned away from me and faced David as he held onto Eve like a wife. "David, what do we do? She's not healing and it's not natural."
David then released Eve and knelt down by me and looked down… now I'm feeling dizzy. What is he looking at again?
"Hurry, David! She's starting to get worse!" What's happening? Who said that? Why is everything fading away? It feels like I'm in a meaningless room full of random colors.
The man, maybe the one with light brown hair; David. He was mumbling something. The first thing I heard by him sounded like "need bloood". Everything was blurry by how far the people were standing by me, but I suddenly saw an arm in front of me. It was all bloody like an accident lived in it.
"Hale, quickly," I heard Selene say; is it Selene?
"Hale, you need to bite or you'll die."
Those words. When Selene said those words, it felt like I was trapped in what I'm being clinked to right now. Like I was in a silver storm somewhere in this life. In this storm right now, I would think what's better, life or death? My same question is in this moment. Life is nothing worth for; it's pretty much a cruel and beautiful world. Bittersweet. Meanwhile, death can let you pacify your thoughts on what life really is. You don't need to rely anything or anyone, heaven or hell. No setbacks…
"Hale! You need to bite now! I need you to save yourself!"
With my eyes as wide as the round table in my coven's den, my vision cleared away from my head and I saw everyone's face relying on me to save my own life. Selene's voice spoke to me as if she was my master. The mad scientist; I was the Igor. With no thought or action, my sharp arm grabbed her bloody hell of a wrist and brought it to my mouth.
The taste was as horrid which is normal for me because this is the first time I drank someone else's blood.
Suddenly, I saw colors as I drank the blood. First, it was blue. Then red, then black, then green. Blue. Red. Black. Green. Red. Blue. Green. Black. Green. Blue. Black. Red. Over and over again, the same colors take the place of my natural colors of the world. I closed my eyes to maybe make it go away, but I suddenly saw the most strangest pattern I've ever seen.
The pattern was diamond-like and raindrops in different colors of the world. It's hard to explain what's happening with my eyes closed so I opened my eyes to make the patterns go away. Only as I did, everyone around me was in the color of green. They all looked innocent, scared, and…devilish. It's beautiful and sinful to think of what's happening in my head. It's like there's two voices trapping myself in my own body.
Suddenly, I saw two devilish faces from hell appear in front of Selene and Michael. Their faces were like a vampire, but it had the nature of a cannibal. I screamed in horror and also in pain as they dunked their teeth into my eyes.
That was when I blacked out again.
