Author's Note:

I've decided that I'm going to try and post at least once a week! I feel like this one is a bit shorter than the others have been, but enjoy the chapter!

On a side note, before anyone gets on me for (to be mentioned) relationships in this chapter, this is a rewrite of my original Kingdom Hearts story that I wrote in the 7th grade. I changed the plotline, etc, but I was very set on keeping this relationship because I dig it for a myriad of reasons. Yale' dyes her bangs, so this is more plausible than people might think. Just something I was thinking about!

On a side, side note, Yale' is pronounced, "Ya'll ay." I know it's kind of weird, but that's what the accent mark is for. Enjoy!

I squirmed helplessly, my fish body sprawled out across the floor of the Gray room. Roxas was lying next to me, a large puddle forming around each of our bodies.

"Ugh, remind me to never let Xemnas talk me into a mission to Atlantica again," Roxas groaned, pushing his body into a semi-upright position. "I don't think that I like swimming with a tail very much. Legs are so much more convenient.

I stared at him in utter bewilderment. How could he be so flippant after what just happened? He must have known that I had over a thousand questions, but he was trying to change the subject before I could even ask them.

"Roxas..."

"Yale', don't. You know that I can't answer your questions, and even if I could...well, you wouldn't like the answers," he finished firmly.

Roxas pulled two green spheres out of a small pouch that I hadn't noticed previously. He handed me one, avoiding my gaze entirely. "Same concept," he stated simply.

I sighed and we each smashed the ball in front of us, relief flooding our faces as our legs and clothes returned intact.

"I'm exhausted," Roxas muttered, still somewhat irritated by the turn of events. "I'm going to go leave a report with Xemnas before turning in. He's not going to like this," he glared at me. "I told you that Sora couldn't see you."

"What's done is done," I retorted. "Besides, if you were me, wouldn't you want to know who he was? You have to understand, Roxas."

Roxas looked down at the shiny, gray floor, suddenly very interested in the tile grout. "I do, Yale'. That's the problem."

Roxas left without another word, leaving me to my own devices where navigation was concerned. The Gray room was empty, meaning that the other Organization members must have been on missions of their own. I let out another loud sigh before moving toward the hallway.

After what felt like hours of wandering, I finally stumbled on a room that I believed to be my own. Of course, I barged in without knocking, expecting to find my familiar backpack resting on the night table. Instead, I found myself standing in front of a now-flustered Axel.

"Yale'?" he exclaimed. "What are you doing in here? Your room is just a few doors down."

"They all look the same, Axel!" I whined. "I didn't mean to barge in, but Roxas left me alone, and then I couldn't find my room, and..."

"Hold on," Axel interrupted. "Roxas left you alone? Why would he do that?"

"Well," I admitted sheepishly. "I messed up our mission today. Roxas and I ran into Sora, and he saw me."

"Did you want him to see you?"

"Kind of...I want to know who he is, Axel. No one is telling me anything, and it's really getting on my nerves," I huffed.

Axel frowned, suddenly deep in thought. "We're not surprised that you can't remember anything. I heard that Sora's memories were being tampered with, which would mean that the memories of you and Kairi would be affected as well."

"I don't think I'm following."

"Memories are chained together," Axel explained. "So, if Sora can't remember you, then you can't remember Sora. It's as simple as that."

"So, Sora forgot about me?"

"Perhaps. But today may have triggered something. Do you feel any different, Yale'?"

I frowned, "Just a bit. My head doesn't hurt as much when I think about Sora, but it's all still a bit hazy."

Axel ran a finger through his spiky locks in frustration, "Let me see if I can fill in a few gaps." He sat down on the bed, patting the spot next to him as a gesture for me to join him. "Sora started on Destiny Islands with you, Kairi, and Riku. He's actually better known...as your brother." Axel glanced sideways at me, attempting to gauge my reaction.

At first, I was shocked, but then it suddenly made perfect sense. The reason why I was so attached to this boy that I didn't know, and the reason why I was so determined to find out who he was. Sora was more important to me than I expected.

I crossed my arms over my chest, "Why couldn't anyone tell me that? That's incredibly important information."

Axel cleared his throat, "We know. That's why we knew that we had to keep it a secret. If you had known then you might try harder to escape." He looked back over at me, eyes wide and wanting, "But you don't want to leave now, do you? I don't want you to leave..." he trailed off.

I wasn't sure what to say. Of course I didn't really want to stay, but could I for this man? Staying here was easily more interesting than the beautiful, but quiet beaches of Destiny Islands.

I sighed and placed my hand over Axel's. My fingers tightened gently around his large fingers. "I would stay for you, Axel. I know that much."

He smiled gently. I was soothed by his touch, and I immediately wondered if he felt the same. "I don't want you to feel alone here, Yale'. Us Nobodies, we know how it feels to be alone, and it sucks." He kissed my cheek gently, "Your room is just two doors down. Go right. Get some sleep, Yale'."

I smiled as I left the room, Axel's kind words ringing through my head. His soft kiss had all but burned a hole into my cheek, and I also felt quite flushed. I headed to my room with a new spring in my step, and a new plan in my mind. I would do whatever it took to get to Sora again, and we would find a way to save Axel's heart together. I wasn't taking any chances.
