How Does
She Know
AN: Sorry that it's been taking awhile to update these stories. Been kind of depressed lately with everything that's been going on. I'll be trying to update this and my other stories as well.
A week went by, and just as Galinda had promised she had written the article and published it in the local newspaper. And much to Elphaba's surprise, and chagrin, letters started to pour in from hopeful young males interested in winning the raven haired beauties heart.
Snatching a handful of the letters off her desk, the blond squealed, and twirling towards her friend, threw them high in the air and reached for Elphaba's slender hands. Grabbing them, she pulls the green girl off her bed and spins her around.
"I told you Elphie!" she chirped in a bubbly tone.
Elphaba cringed at the blonde's high tonation and wrenched her hands free.
"Galinda will you cease and desist!" Elphaba scolded as she rubbed her sore fingers. Like always, when the blonde was excited, she tended to forget just how strong of a grip she had; as in her aforementioned fingers.
Galinda covered her mouth and giggled in a very Galinda-like fashion, "Sorry Elphie," twirling around, she took a seat in her chair, and crossed her legs, "so?" she asks, bouncing on the heels of her shoes.
"So what?" Elphaba grumbled. Brushing the none-existent dirt from her skirt, she took a seat and glared back at her friend.
"Aren't you excited?" Galinda asks, cradling her head within the palms of her hands.
Elphaba opened her mouth to retort, and burst the pink bubble-headed blonde's, but upon seeing the glimmer in her eyes, the hopeful smile painted on her soft lips, crushed the insult just teetering at the tip of her tongue. Sighing, she sat back, and allowed her shoulders to slump.
"Yeah" she answers finally.
"Oh Elphie you're going to have a Shizrific time!" squeals the blonde.
"Shizrific?" Elphaba asked, quirking an incredulous eyebrow back at the blonde. "is that even a word?"
"It is now" Galinda giggled
Elphaba groaned and face palmed.
"Galinda, how many times do I have to tell you, you can't keep making up words" she muttered.
"Why not?" Galinda frowned. Though she was only half paying attention, since her eyes were locked on a handful of hair half twisted around her delicate fingers.
"Never mind," Elphaba sighed, seeing her friends attention was focused more on her hair then the conversation at hand, "so who's the lucky victim…I mean candidate?" Elphaba corrected herself
Galinda looked up from her hair and scowled back at the raven haired witch.
"That's not funny Elphie"
"I thought so" Elphaba proudly smirked and crossed her arms against her chest.
Galinda rolled her eyes before rising and stepping over to the desk. Finding the letter she needed, she turned back to her friend and smiled.
"His name is Luca and he's a college student from the Emerald City"
"From the EC?" gasped Elphaba shocked.
Galinda nodded, happy that her friend was at least showing a little bit of interest in this.
Leaning back on the palms of her hands, Elphaba's dark chocolate eyes remained focused on the blonde's smirk look.
"Alright…so what's the catch?" she asked, arching an elegant eyebrow for affect.
"Catch?" Galinda frowned confused.
"Why would a guy from the EC be interested in dating the "Green Girl from Shiz?" Elphaba asked dramatically.
"Maybe he likes green?" she said, shrugging her shoulders, which she quickly fell into a bout of giggles at the look her friend was currently giving her, or to be more specific, the glare. "I'm kidding. I don't know Elphie. Because he's interested. He's an Animal Activist just like you, he doesn't eat meat, and he's studying so he may one day work for the Wizard"
"Really?" frowning, she looked back at her friend, "Why?"
"He wishes to become a scientist and work for the Wizard in hopes of finding cures for diseases afflicting both Animals and humans that have otherwise gone untreatable," she says ," you know play around with germs" she says the last part gagging slightly
The corner of Elphaba's lips curl upwards, watching her friend shiver at the notion of wanting or being around germs.
"That's a very noble cause"
Galinda sighed dramatically and nodded
"I suppose so," shaking her head she makes a face, "eek…germs" she grumbled. Shaking the thought away, she plasters on a smile and bounces excitedly in her chair, "oh Elphie this will be perfect. You two will meet, and fall in love and marry and live happily ever after" as she spoke, she twirled out of her chair, and clapping her hands together, spun around and smiled back at her friend.
"And you think this will all happen in one date?" Elphaba asked dryly.
"Why not?" blinked the blonde.
"Galinda, very rarely do people fall in love when they first meet. Logically it takes several meetings or "dates" as you call them before any sort of feelings start to even manifest, and that's only if they can find subjects to which both are compatible with and are in agreement over" rambles Elphaba.
Galinda, during this had taken a seat in her chair again. Growing bored, she rests her elbow on the desk and cups her hand against her cheek. Sighing, her other hand rises and mockingly opens and closes as if it's talking back to her.
Realizing she's done, Galinda blinks back at her friend and smiles.
"Oh Elphie. Maybe in prehistoric times that was the case but not now. Now it's when you know, you'll know it's true love and fall head over heels for him and want to marry him and become his wife and have his children and go away to the Vinkus together and rule and be happy forever and ever!" rambles the blonde.
"Perhaps in your bubbly world…not in real life" Elphaba countered.
"Of course in real life. Just look at me and FiFi" squeals the blonde
"Yeah…enough said there" Elphaba said, after a long, almost uncomfortable pause. For a moment, Elphaba could have sworn she heard crickets chirping somewhere.
Galinda huffed, and blew a lose strand of hair out of her face.
"Okay Miss Sour-puss," she says flatly, "but you'll see. When you meet Luca you'll know" she finishes in a sugary tone
"Know what?" Elphaba frowned. She really wanted to know what the blonde was talking about.
"That you love him, that he's the one" sings the blonde. Seeing her friend quirk an eyebrow back at her, she rolled her eyes, and stood. "How do you know…he loves you, how does he know, he's yours" sings the blonde
Elphaba cupped her hands over her ears and groaned.
"Galinda don't sing"
"How do you know he loves you? How do you show you love him?" she continued.
"Oz" groaned Elphaba
