The Hooded Half-Blood Hero
Chapter 5

**Narrator's POV**

The rest of that week passed uneventfully. Everything had been the same for Percy, except for the fact that Annabeth was now here with him, that made everything so much better for him.

It was Friday afternoon, and Percy and Annabeth had just got off from school. It was nearing April, which was Easter, so they were getting prepared for the holiday.

Percy and Annabeth sat at the table, with brushes in their hand and painting on an egg each. Annabeth's art was neat and pretty, what she had painted resembled The Parthenon. Percy's on the other hand... well, no-one's even sure what that is.

"Percy! What is that?" Annabeth frowned at his work. He slouched over in his seat, as if he was tired from all of his hard 'work'.

"It's you!" He showed her the egg and she furrowed her eyebrows even more.

"What?! How is that me?" She took the egg and flipped it over. He gently took the egg away from her and pointed out a couple things.

"This is your blonde curly hair, these are your grey eyes, this is your orange t-shirt, and this is your necklace! I tried giving you feet, but they messed up so I turned them into rocks." He gave her a silly smile. Annabeth looked closely at the egg and rolled her eyes.

"Okay Percy. That's great." She replied sarcastically. Clearly Percy didn't understand sarcasm because he seemed pleased with himself.

As they continued to work, Paul's Prius rolled into the open garage, with Sally in the passenger seat. They got out of the car, and both of them collected some bags from the trunk, then carried them over to the front door.

The doorbell rang and Annabeth ran over to open the door.

"Hi Annabeth!" Sally said cheerily and went over to hug Annabeth. Unfortunately for her, her grocery bag was in the way so it was a little bit hard to carry out.

Annabeth helped Paul and Sally bring the bags in and set them on the kitchen counter.

"What's this mom?" Percy dawdled into the kitchen and started picking at the bags. Annabeth slapped his hand off.

"These are groceries! We're hosting a easter barbecue party sometime next week. We needed to buy groceries before Paul's car needed to get repaired." Sally replied, "Maybe you could invite some of your friends Percy!"

Percy stiffened, "Uh... My friends?"

Annabeth smiled at him then looked to Sally, "Percy is... not very sociable at school. So he only has... at most 3 friends, not including me."

Sally sighed, "Well Percy, you better get more friends. Just saying." She smirked at Percy who's jaw was agape and skipped into the living room where Paul was.

"My mom is so mean to me." Percy pouted jokingly. Annabeth laughed and smacked him on the arm, "She's not mean Percy. She's telling the truth."

Percy huffed at Annabeth's response. "Do you want to go out?" He asked her. She frowned and shrugged, "Where?"

"We can go to the park if you want." He replied and Annabeth piped up, nodding. Percy bobbed his head, "Okay. Let's go then! We can get ice cream too." He took her hand and his wallet.

"Mom we're going to the park!" Percy yelled to Sally in the living room. He heard her reply of 'Come back before dinner!' and lead Annabeth out the door.

**Annabeth's POV**

The park Percy took me to was really nice. It was big, had many giant trees to rest against and chill out in the shade, and it was just really peaceful. I could see myself designing a structure for the gods here.

I leaned into Percy as we strolled along the pathway. It was really nice here. I spotted a couple squirrels run past beside our feet.

Percy wasn't in his usual school outfit. He was wearing a tight blue shirt that was matching mine, and his usual old jeans. I guess he didn't care about anyone-

"Hey new girl!" A very familiar voice boomed out behind us. Almost immediately, Percy whipped his hand out of mine. I turned around to see.

It was that Andrew douche and his bitch girlfriend Rachael.

I furrowed my eyebrows in disgust at the sight of them.

"Hello." I murmured, not wanting to be involved in any trouble today. I was having a great day, and I didn't want it to be spoiled. Hopefully they didn't cause any trouble.

"You're the new girl right? Annabeth?" Andrew asked, smirking at me. Percy shifted behind me and I watched both of their eyes set on Percy. Almost immediately, Rachael's jaw dropped wide open. She cleared her throat.

"Hm... Who's your friend?" She asked in a flirtatious tone. I fought the urge to laugh at her cluelessness. How could she do this when her boyfriend was standing right next to her? But it didn't seem like Andrew cared, at all.

I turned to Percy to see if he was okay with me telling them who he was, he immediately glared at me and shook his head slightly, a small action in which only I could see.

I focused back on Rachael, "Erm... This is my friend uh... F-Fred." I blurted out the first name that popped in my head. I heard Percy laugh then disguise it with a cough, so I nudged him with my elbow hard.

"Oh. Fred. Well I'm Rachael." She continued flirting. Seriously?!

Percy nodded, probably not wanting to communicate with her.

"Nice seeing you two here, but F-Fred and I have to go now." I said and tried not to laugh when saying 'Fred's' name.

When we walked out of their hearing range, Percy immediately started cracking up. I sighed as he continued laughing, and smacked him in the arm. He stopped laughing and sighed, still having a smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile too.

"Fred? That was the only name you could think of?" He asked me, still slightly chuckling.

I blushed, "It was the first name that popped up in my head, okay?" I felt his hand take mine and I smiled up at him.

"Well if you're going to start calling me Fred, then I better get used to it." He said and I snickered.

"Can we go get ice cream now?" I asked him. He laughed and gaze down at me, and leaned down to peck me on the cheek. I felt my cheeks grow red and my heart pounded in my chest.

"Of course Wise Girl."
