"Even the best bluffers must eventually lay their cards on the table." –Marty Rubin.
Visiting Mustang was quite a long one for I decided I wanted to stay a little. Just knowing that he misses me kind made me want to linger just a little bit. We spoke about the new place and my new buddies. Roy said they sound like really nice people in which they are. I wanted to keep the conversations positive. Having to ask questions to about my parents and the war will stir up some unnecessary negativity; so asking him later would be much better.
Havoc and I left the hospital hours later and he made his way back to his home. Ge told me that we're going to the gun range sometime next week which sounds awesome because I need to shoot a few guns. Dex and I walk back to the Central Command Center not paying attention to these disrespectful assholes that were walking around. I could already sense their disgust and their eyes looking at me up and down. But I have no time for them anyway. I have something really huge to look over which was the Crimson Alchemy notes. Those notes are the biggest clues ever given to be by far. They were sent to Mom by Kimblee himself. Why would he hand those to her and why would she accept them? I'm sorry to say this, but this has to be one of the dumbest things one of my parents has ever done. We all know that a man like Kimblee should never be trusted. Everything about this just doesn't add up, but I can't just stop here. I have to continue…
We got home safely and we made it back to our room. The minute we walked in, I look to the folder and the journals. I might as well look into it right now before I relax the rest of the day. So with that in mind, I took my mother's book. What Dr. Marcoh told me gave me a visible hint to what I need to look into next. Since those notes were given to Mom, she must've wrote about it at least. I open the book and skim through some pages to find anything that mentions Kimblee, Alchemy Notes, or both. All of a sudden, my phone rings. I answer it with a simple "hello". "Hey." I hear Envy say from the other side of the line, "Didn't expect for me to call you this early huh?"
"Well, you're pretty much EVERYWHERE, so yeah I would expect this. And also you miss me so very much."
"Oh shut the hell up! I'm just waiting for you to get the apartment. That is all."
"You miss me. But don't worry. I'll be moving in first thing tomorrow morning. Are you happy now?"
"Finally. As soon as you settle in, you're mine you know that?"
"Duh. I know. You're very predictable when you say things like that. You're just ready to fuck my brains out aren't you?"
"Mmm. You know me too well, Serenity."
I smile agreeing to what he said. I most definitely know him way too well. I mean it's been two years of me tolerating his bullshit. Even though I do, it's still funny that I love this guy. "Come on now." I sigh, "I'm try to concentrate here. I have some clues to connect over here. Maybe you can help me?"
"What clues?"
"At the hospital today, I was pulled aside by Dr. Marcoh and he told me that Kimblee handed my mother Crimson Alchemy notes. And I just need to figure out why."
"That doesn't sound like something he would do. I never told you this, but I know Kimblee. And he's much of a killer like me. He would rather just kill your Mom right there."
"But he did kill her. And my Dad too."
"But not when he gave her the notes right?"
"I don't think so…"
I continue to talk to even about it as I look through the pages. Once I found Kimblee's name and info about the notes, I was ready to read. "Here it is. I found the diary entry."
"What does it say?"
"Give me a chance to start reading it." I begin at the spot where the answers should be.
Just as me and my love thought, it actually got really, really bad here in Ishval. A few days ago, there was an attack at Raphael's headquarters and some of his troop died in awfully gruesome ways. He told me he spotted one of the bodies with his throat slit and another whose intestines were cut out. It sounds very grotesque I know, but that how some of the soldiers died. Raphael told me that I have to stay at home. Everything out there is so dangerous and stressful. I can't bring my child into this kind or world for she needs to see a peaceful one…
3rd pov (Balqis)
Nervous and sad, Balqis carefully lift the cloth and looks out the window. Outside, she can see the military men fighting with some Ishvalan men. She could also hear their war cries. She places the cloth down and sighs. "This is terrible." She begins to rub her tummy and smiles. "Oh my dear child, I promise that'll be born in a better area. In an area where killing isn't around you at all. We can't wait to meet you." While she was gushing over her unborn baby, she hears a knock on the door. The knock startled her and she quickly reached for a knife before answering it. She took a deep breath, swung the door open, and pointed the knife to a rather unexpected visitor. "Whoa!! Hold on, miss!!" Kimblee says as he sees the knife in her hand, "I come in peace!"
"How do you know who I am and what are you doing here?"
"I've heard a lot about you and I've seen you try to get into the Headquarters. Please put down the knife."
"Why should I? How could I trust you?"
"Listen, I can help you and your boyfriend leave this place. You guys can live a better life with your baby."
Once Kimblee mentioned that to her, she lower her knife slowly. Kimblee took the chance to take it out of her hands and he stepped inside of her house.
I didn't trust him right away. He seems like the type of man who will betray you in the end. But he said that he can help. So, I decided to listen to what he had to say. He told me that Raphael plans to go back to the other side of Amestris and I have to go along with him. Sounds like a plan, but told me not to leave with something…
"Take these." Kimblee hands Balqis three papers. All three of them had Crimson Alchemy notes written on them. "Study these alchemy notes and you can protect your family."
"But I know nothing alchemy…"
"Even the greatest alchemists start with no knowledge. Trust me. You learn these and you'll be one of the greatest protectors of not just for you village, but for the world." Kimblee leaves the house after their conversation and says, "Thanks for listening…" The door closes and Balqis is left with alchemy notes in her hands. "Do I really need this?" she asks herself. Thoughts of keeping her family safe was now coming in her mind. She really wanted to protect them all and she thinks that alchemy can keep them safe. However…
I told my lover everything and there was a bit of a dispute between us. He told me that I should've never listened to him. But what if he was telling the truth? What if alchemy can save us? I don't know what to think about anymore. I shouldn't be like this either; it's bad for my health. But I might have to hold onto these papers. They can be useful for anything in the future. God, please help us. We need your help at this time…
1st pov (Serenity)
I finished reading and it still tell me why he gave them to her. "This is ridiculous!" I shouted on the phone, "It still doesn't say much on why he handed them to her!" "We'll it might not tell you now, but just think about this." Envy tells me, "You know how they got to her and knowing what you think, he's using her for something. He's always been the trickster."
"That does make sense, but I don't have enough info on this to give me more hints."
"You don't need any. You've have to figure it out on your own. Things like this never get easy."
I sigh and run my fingers through my hair. I stumped right now, but Envy's right. This isn't easy, but I can't give it all up. "I need a break from this." I said, "If I continue, I'm gonna function well enough later on."
"In the meantime, we can talk about something else."
"Might wanna for that until we see each other. We've spoke long enough and who knows who could be listening to us."
"Fine. Whatever. Bye then…" Envy hangs up upset that we continue to talk on the phone. He maybe mad now, but he'll get over it when he shows his face tomorrow. Now that I think about, I'll miss this room. I've been through a lot at the Central Command Center and they were both good and bad. The only thing I won't miss is Douglas nagging at me. There was so much animosity between us, but it'll be lifted one I leave. I might miss the Command Center, but this isn't goodbye. And it never will be.
