"The beach?" Akemi asked, her eyebrows creasing, "Do we really have time for the beach?"
Akemi distanced her cell phone from her ear, and grimaced as Wakana began to yell, "Do we have time for the beach? We make time for the beach!"
"I don't know…" Akemi said, "Besides I have a lot of things to do already."
"Like what?"
"…homework."
"…"
"…"
"I thought you said you finished all your homework."
"I did some, but then I got tired." Akemi explained, "Since it was going to be the weekend the next day, I thought that it would be okay to finish it all today."
"That's not like you. You like finish everything on the same day you get it," Wakana said. "Even if the weekend is the next day or even if you get really tired."
"Well, I was just too tired yesterday."
"So are you doing your homework right now?"
"Yeah."
"You liar!" Wakana yelled as she suddenly burst into the room. She also had her turquoise cell phone glued to her ear.
Akemi turned around in her chair with wheels in shock. She began to yell also, "Wakana, what the fuck are you doing here?! How'd you even get in here?!"
"I got in from the open windows at the first floor, but that's not what we need to talk about!"
The redhead stood up and yelled back, "What do you mean that's not what we need to talk about?! You just broke into my house again!"
"I've been doing this since I first moved next door!"
"But each time, I keep on telling you to not do that anymore!"
"But it's been so long!"
"That doesn't make it okay!"
"Ugh, Akemi, I can't believe you lied to me!" Wakana said. The honey blonde went to the bed and plopped herself on it. "You always do this."
"That's because I don't like social events because-"
"I know, I know. You hate crowds and vulgarity, and you personally think that social events are a chance to have those things," Wakana said in a bored tone.
"So why did you bother asking if you knew my answer?" Akemi asked.
"Because you need to get out more," Wakana said.
"No I don't," Akemi said. "I'm fine in my little nice safe space."
The honey blond sighed, frustrated, "I don't get it. I'm giving you chances."
"Chances for what? I don't even want chances," Akemi said.
"Chances for you to get with Kyoya! Duh!"
Akemi sighed and said, "The chances of Kyoya and me getting together are very slim. Besides, there are many pretty and perfect customers of his that he can get with. I mean it doesn't even help that we're family rivals."
"Okay then," Wakana said, "go for Tamaki."
"Tamaki can be annoying at times," Akemi said. "I prefer Kyoya rather than him."
"See? You and Kyoya are cute together. I ship it," Wakana said.
Akemi raised an eyebrow. She asked, "You ship it? What do you mean by you 'ship it'?"
"It means pairing people," The other girl replied. "I learned it from Renge."
Akemi rolled her brown eyes and groaned, "Don't speak that name in this household please."
"Huh? Oh yeah," Wakana said as she started to remember. Akemi had instantly disliked Renge. Wakana didn't know why exactly. Who was she kidding? She did know why. It was strange but Akemi got jealous. The redhead had heard that Renge had proclaimed herself as Kyoya's fiancée. And well, of course, the sixteen year old girl felt a little challenged.
'Wait a minute…' Wakana thought as her eyes widened in realization. She began to speak bitterly, "Fine. I'll go by myself. Maybe I'll hang out with…her…while I'm there, and then maybe she'll wanna hang out with Kyoya." The grey-eyed girl sat up, waiting for an answer.
"Do you think I care?" Akemi snapped.
Wakana sighed and got off the bed. She headed for the door. Once she put her hand on the doorknob, she heard Akemi clear her throat.
Akemi said, "I'll consider it, Wakana."
"That's a yes?"
"It's a maybe."
"Haruhi's so brave! That centipede was so gross!"
"He's so cute too!"
"Isn't he the best?"
Maaya scowled as she heard the praises of one particular host: Haruhi Fujioka. She laid back in the white beach chair, the umbrella blocking the sun from her eyes. Soon a human shadow was cast over her.
"Maaya, are you having any fun like we said?" Chiyemi asked. Chiyemi was wearing a 2-piece swimsuit. It was a white polka dot, bright pink, two-strapped swimwear top with an indigo, high-waist swimwear bottom and white flip flops. She also had on a brimmed white sun hat.
"Sure," Maaya said, sliding down in her chair a little. Maaya was wearing a 2-piece, light yellow, trigonometric bikini with yellow sandals and orange sunglasses.
"Maaya, I hope you're not just sitting there being jealous again," Chiyemi said.
"I'm not," the tan girl murmured. She then instantly stood up, "Ah ha! There they go again. With that boy…" Maaya's head rose up again to meet her best friend's glaring eyes.
"You need back your life," Chiyemi said, crossing her arms.
Maaya groaned and slid further down her chair, "I do. I really do."
"Well, you're a really social person so go socialize with somebody."
"Can't I just socialize with you?"
"Why don't you go talk to Tamaki?" Chiyemi suggested.
"He seems to be a big fan of Haruhi too," Maaya said.
"Oh come on," Chiyemi said. "They're all friends. Best friends. What are they supposed to do?"
"Nope, that's a bunch of bullshit. Don't you see the way those guys look at him?" asked Maaya.
"Look at him with what?" Chiyemi asked, confused at first. Then it clicked. She asked, "Are you saying the Host Club might be…gay?"
"What? No! Well…actually that…probably makes…sense," Maaya said, widening her eyes.
"What makes sense?" Kyoya asked as he passed by.
Both girls froze. Then a smirk crossed Maaya's face. She asked, "Is the Host Club gay?"
There was tense silence for a short moment before Kyoya spoke, "Gay as in happy? If so, for now, yes."
Maaya narrowed her dark brown eyes, "I think you know what I meant."
She got a smirk from the teenage boy instead, "No, I don't. Please explain."
"Gay as in homosexual," Maaya said.
"No."
"Are you lying?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Look, the members of the Host Club are not homosexual. At least not what I know of," Kyoya said.
"So it's a possibility?" Maaya asked.
"Miss Oshiro, why are you asking?" He asked, pushing up his glasses.
"…"
"Well?"
"I've noticed you guys seem to fawn over Haruhi a lot."
"Oh I see. Are you another Ayanokoji?"
"No!" Maaya snapped, "It's just weird. You guys don't fawn over each like that."
"What are you implying?" Kyoya asked.
"It's almost like you guys are crushing on him," Maaya said.
"You know what's weird too? Isn't Haruhi a girl name?" Chiyemi asked.
Kyoya sighed. He explained, "Haruhi Fujioka's a person who doesn't care about gender as much other people. Most likely, he was raised like that."
"So naming him a girl's name is like a teaching method?" Chiyemi asked.
"Correct," Kyoya said. "It's seems strange, but all parents are different."
Both girls looked at each other and exchanged a confused look. Maaya squinted at Kyoya and said, "Uh, okay, but that still doesn't explain-"
"Hey, Kyoya-senpai!" called a female voice. The three of them turned to Wakana running towards them, dragging a certain red orange-haired girl with her.
"How do you think Akemi looks, Kyoya-senpai?" Wakana asked, panting. Wakana was wearing a bright blue, two-piece, string bikini. The orange strings on both the top and the bottom were tied into bows. There was even bow in the middle of the top. She had on orange flip flops with an orange plastic bracelet.
"That's what we came here for?" Akemi asked as her eyes widened and she blushed. She was wearing a yellow-green, two-piece, strapless swimwear that had a fringe top and a normal bottom. She also had on yellow-green sandals. Her hair had been unbraided and left down.
Kyoya smiled at the redhead and compliment her, "I think she looks beautiful."
"Thank you," Akemi said, blushing and smiling wider. "You know, this whole trip has been really nice so far. I'm glad I came."
"Well, I do try my best," Kyoya said, a bit flattered. The two began to talk about something else interesting while the three other girls took that as a sign to leave.
"Ugh," the twins murmured as they were walking out of the cave, "dammit."
"What's wrong?" Maaya asked, standing next to Wakana.
"Oh hey Maaya," said Hikaru.
"Oh hey Wakana," said Kaoru. "It's just that we failed in scaring Haruhi."
"Scaring Haruhi? Why would you wanna do that?" Wakana asked.
"Why wouldn't you? That sounds like fun," Maaya said.
"Don't worry, Wakana, you know us." Hikaru said, "It's not like we were trying to do anything harmful. Just having a little fun, that's all."
"What were you trying to scare him with?" Wakana asked.
"Supernatural," the twins replied.
"At least you tried," Maaya said. "He doesn't seem to be scared of bugs or the supernatural. He must be a tough cookie."
"What are you scared of?" the twins asked, getting a new idea.
"Probably you two right now," Wakana said, noticing the mischievous look on their faces.
"Oh-" Kaoru said, putting his arms around her hips.
"Really?" Hikaru finished as he put his arms around Maaya's hips. Both twins picked up the girls in their arms.
"Guys, what the hell?" Wakana asked, starting to laugh. "Put us down."
"Says you," Maaya said, laughing also. "I could stay like this forever."
"Really?" Hikaru asked, blushing a little.
"Well, yeah." Maaya said, "I'm in your arms."
"Would it be any different if you were in Kaoru's arms?" Hikaru asked her.
"Yeah because it's not your arms, it's his. It wouldn't feel the same," Maaya said.
"Thanks Maaya," Hikaru said, smiling at her. He hugged her tighter, and she smiled in response.
"So what are you girls really afraid of?" Kaoru asked them. The twins put the girls down.
"Being undesirable. That scares the shit out of me," Maaya said. "It can lead to being abandoned, left, ditched, or replaced. Those scare the shit of me too."
"I'm scared of being controlled. I'm also scared for my will and freedom being taken away," Wakana said. Her grey eyes lowered to the ground as she bit her lips in discomfort.
"Oh," the twins said, wondering what the girls were going through.
"Takashi!" Chiyemi whispered in shock as her boyfriend's hand made contact with her rump. A noticeable blush crept onto her face. She made an effort to cover it with hands.
"Yummy-chan, is there something wrong?" Honey asked, curious at what seemed to surprise her.
Chiyemi's amber eyes met Mori's. Mori defended himself, "It was an accident."
"Sure," Chiyemi said, still skeptical.
Honey was still confused as ever. He asked, "What happened?"
"Nothing important," Mori said.
Suddenly, Chiyemi heard a commotion going on. She turned around and squinted as she blocked the sun from her eyes. She asked, "Hey guys, isn't this supposed to be a private beach?"
"Yeah," Mori replied.
"Why do you ask, Yummy-chan?" Honey asked.
"Look, I think there are some strangers causing trouble on a cliff," Chiyemi said, pointing upward.
"What the-stay here," Honey told her as he and Mori hurried towards the commotion.
"Are you okay, Haruhi?" Akemi asked after her and the other three girls ran towards the Host Club.
"Yeah," Haruhi said in a bitter tone. "Thanks for caring."
"We do care!" Tamaki snapped.
"Whoa, guys, whoa," Wakana tried to calm down. "Why are you guys mad at each other?"
"We think that Haruhi was being reckless, which he was," Kyoya said.
"Huh? Why?" Chiyemi asked.
"Because, well, how do we put this?" Kaoru said.
"He lacks the masculine physique he need in order to handle a situation like that," Hikaru said.
"Excuse me?" Maaya asked, not sure if she heard them right.
"Don't tell me you're saying what I think you're saying," Akemi snapped.
"Well, we're right. To add onto that, Haruhi doesn't know any type of self defense," Honey said.
"Yeah," Mori agreed.
"Are you guys fucking serious?" Chiyemi asked, "It's the twenty-first century. Having a feminine physique or just being female does not give you an excuse to let something such two men harassing girls continue."
"You girls don't understand," Tamaki said. "Haruhi should've at least called for help."
"Maybe he should've but he wasn't wrong," Maaya said. "What would've happened if he spent his time looking for help? Something could've happened to those girls."
"Like what?" Kyoya asked.
"You know exactly what I mean, you jackass," Maaya snapped.
"How come you girls can't admit you're wrong?" the twins asked, getting frustrated like the rest of the boys.
"Because they're not," Haruhi defended, "and I'm not either."
"Stay out of this, Haruhi!" Tamaki said.
"Senpai, this is much as my situation as it is yours!" Haruhi shouted.
"What you boys are saying is disgusting," Wakana said. "I can't believe that it's coming out of your mouths."
"Fine, you five can stay stubborn," Tamaki said, "but don't talk to me unless you five can admit you were wrong."
"You were never worthy to me anyway!" Akemi yelled, fist balled up and stomping her left foot on the ground. Everyone froze. She had surprised them again. Outbursts were not known to fit her at all.
"I want go to the beach estate," Haruhi said after a bit of tense silence.
"We-" the twins began to speak.
"Don't talk," Haruhi said, her hair covering her face.
Akemi cleared her throat. She asked, "May I use the phone at the estate? I forgot my cell phone and I need to make a call."
"Why don't you use Kyo-chan's cell phone then?" Honey asked.
"I don't want that on my face," Akemi said venomously.
"Alright then," Kyoya said in a bitter tone. "Let's go."
"In thirty minutes?! Okay then. Make sure he comes. Goodbye," Akemi hung up. "I hope the limo driver's coming now. He's very late." The redhead started to wander around to keep herself busy. There were many cat-like and dark things around the home. Of course, she had been told that she was in Nekozawa's beach estate.
There was a tense and uneasy vibe in the mood of the group. Snide remarks had been slipped in, narrowed eyes and glares had been seen. Then again, there was positive side of the mood. The Host Club had offered to give her food, but she rejected out of politeness and bitterness. Plus before Haruhi went to change her clothes, Haruhi had given her a baggy, yellow sweater just in case Akemi got chilly in the beach estate.
"Oh no," Akemi realized, "what are we going to do about our team? The Newspaper Club isn't just gonna stop." Akemi licked her lips. She said, "Kyoya told me his room number in case I needed him. I hope he's willing to talk." When Akemi reached Kyoya's room, she hesitated to open the doorknob.
'Is someone in there with him?' she thought. 'I need to know who before I go in. I don't wanna be that type of person.' Then she saw the lights turn off and then heard some moving of the sheets. It was a short time before Akemi pressed her ear to the door anyway. Her brown eyes were glued to the ground. She heard more speaking.
"You've left yourself completely defenseless against me."
Akemi's eyes widened in shock. She thought, 'Kyoya?!' She suddenly opened the doorknob to reveal a sight that broke her heart and confused her more than ever:
Kyoya Ootori was in a sexual position with Haruhi Fujioka. It looked…forced.
Haruhi Fujioka was a girl. Nothing could convince Akemi that Haruhi was a cross dresser. It all made sense that she was a girl. That 'feminine physique' bull crap wasn't not even the reason. It was because she was a girl.
Tears swelled up Akemi's eyes. She tried to say something, but nothing would come out. Instead she ran away. As she did, she heard her name being called by both of them. Nevertheless, that didn't stop her. She kept on running as far as she could. She never wanted to be near that room again. She never wanted to be near them again.
But soon, her legs failed her and gave out. She got up and kept on running until she fell against a door, breathing heavily. More tears rolled from her brown eyes. The door opened. A voice spoke. Tamaki's voice.
"Akemi?"
She stood up. She was tired. She was dizzy. She couldn't think. She fainted.
