"If you've come to tell me how terrible of an idea dating Klaus is, then you may as well not bother," Caroline said. "I've already heard it more than enough times."

"Actually that's not why I'm here," Stefan responded. "I don't see why everybody feels the need to make a big deal out of this and act like it's all some huge surprise to them. And I don't get why they're suddenly claiming that you've lost your mind because of it. I came here because I wanted to tell you that."

"You did?" Caroline asked. His words made her feel a combination of surprised, confused and hopeful.

"It's not like you just formed your feelings for him overnight," Stefan pointed out in response. "I've been here, I've seen them grow."

"Yeah, well apparently nobody else has seen that," She responded. "They're all too busy complaining about how terrible he is to see anything past their hatred for him, which is especially annoying because they act like he's incapable of change… It seems like in their minds you can only change for the better if your name is Damon." Her last words came out bitter.

"I've seen the way that Klaus treats you, like you're perfect and the only thing that he wants. He treats you better than Tyler did," Stefan agreed. "Besides, I know firsthand how far he's willing to go to protect the people that he cares about, even if his methods aren't always the best option. I don't understand why they seem to think that he's going to end up hurting you."

A big smile formed on Caroline's lips as she pulled her friend into a hug and told him, "Thank you for actually listening to me and giving this a chance instead of just freaking out like everyone else did."

He shot her a smile back as he replied with, "Even if I didn't agree with your choice, if you're happy with him, then I don't really see how I'd have the right to try and change that… Besides, don't tell him this because I know that it will just go to his head, but Klaus is actually an okay guy most of the time."

"What's on your mind?"

"Nothing," Caroline quickly responded.

"Sweetheart, I can tell when something's upsetting you," Klaus told her.

She hesitated for a moment before she let out a quiet sigh and admitted, "Fine. I was supposed to go spend tonight over at Elena's house for girl's night with her and Bonnie, but that was before I was with you. And now I can't go because it would just be a bunch of awkward silence. That and them trying to hold some kind of freaking intervention to try and convince me to break up with you."

Klaus frowned as his hand that was already wrapped around her began to rub circles on the flesh of her arm. He was strangely silent for a moment before he quietly spoke up with, "I think that you should go."

"What? …Why?" She demanded. She wondered what could have possibly gotten it into Klaus's mind that it was a good idea for her to go spend her night being personally attacked about her choice in men, especially when she could have just stayed there with him instead.

"You've been friends with them for what, your whole life?" He asked her. "And you said yourself that one of the worse things that Damon did was almost ruining things between you and your friends. I don't want to be that guy that you end up losing your friends for and regretting later."

"You're right. I don't want to lose them," Caroline responded. "But I'm losing them because of their problem, not because of you. And I don't want to have friends who think that I should have to get rid of my boyfriend just to keep them around." She couldn't believe what he seemed to be suggesting, especially since it only further proved just how much Bonnie and Elena had been wrong about him.

"That's not what I meant," Klaus assured her. "They think that they're losing you too, that I'm transforming you into some completely different person. Not going will only prove that to them and make things worse. If you don't want to lose them, then you should go and show them that you're still the same flawless beauty you've been all along."

She let out a laugh at that and Klaus had to grin at how he had managed to make her smile, despite the fact that she was upset.

Caroline wrapped her arms around his neck and brought her lips against his, smiling into the kiss.

She left her arms wrapped like that as she asked him, "How do you always know exactly what to say?"

"Not always," He corrected. A smirk formed on his lips and he kissed her once more before he added, "Just the vast majority of the time."

Caroline rolled her eyes at that and then her smile faded just a little as she told him, "I guess that I'll at least try to go. But if things go badly, I'm not going to stick around and listen to it."

A/N: Please read and review! I know that I said that I'd have this done before November 1st and that it's kind of Halloween night right now, but life got in the way these past few days. I'm going to start my novel a few days late and try to finish off these last three fanfictions as soon as possible (I can't imagine that I won't be done by the end of this weekend). Anyways, thanks again for reading and I hope that you guys enjoyed reading the chapter! :)
