So sorry for the delay, but in a house with no interwebs, it limits you. So, after obsessingly watching the newest season and seriously thinking over my yaoi pairing of Marvey (oh yeah, I ship that) as well as repeating my mantra of "Break up" to a couple of the relationships on the show, I have written some more! ^_^ Well, this was all like in three days because my laptop was oh so inviting.
So onward with the story.
"I refuse to answer that on the grounds that I don't want to." -Harvey Specter
Charlie fell asleep soon after telling me about her mom. God, it made me want to meet the woman with how she talked. Almost reminded me of my relationship I once held with Grammy. Robin and Charlie were like best friends and it ended so suddenly. I knew Robin kept her suffering from Charlie, who, in turn, knew she was suffering a slow and rather painful death. I looked to Charlie, smiling at how peaceful she looked. Her tresses of wavy curly hair cascading down her shoulders, her long bangs falling before her eyes as her head was lolled to the side. Not to mention her soft lips were slightly parted just so. Her soft lips with no chapped cracks in them whatsoever.
Carefully, I raised my thumb to her lips, getting the small amount of drool that was threatening to come out because of the medications in her system. Rather gently, my thumb touched her lips, the softness to them making my heart soar. I knew this wasn't right. She was seventeen and I was twenty-seven, but something drew me to this girl. No, she wasn't a girl; her curves were well defined and she had seen too much to be just some girl. She had to be a woman. A young woman. Someone I could easily chase when I was remotely around her age.
I had no idea what possessed me to press my lips to hers like some fairy tail, but there I was. My lips were pressed to hers in a light kiss. Her soft lips against mine in a secret kiss no one knew about but me. Even when she started to move, making me pull away did I not regret what I just did. When she opened her eyes, eyelids drooping down in sedated tiredness. She didn't look unhappy at all like she usually was.
"Hey," I said casually, trying to play off that I didn't just so that.
She mustered the energy to speak, carefully wiggling against the hospital mattress. "H-Hey," she said with a hoarse whisper. "H-Harvey here yet?"
I shook my head, knowing he'd be walking in soon. "He should be soon."
She let out a soft grumble, earning a chuckle from me. "I don't want to see him yet."
"I know," I said, easily remembering her attitude for my boss. "I promise I won't leave you alone with him until I have to."
Charlie nodded, closing her eyes. "I don't want to be here."
I nodded. "I know. You showed your distaste for it when Harvey was chewing me out."
"I'm sorry I...got you in trouble."
"Don't worry about it, Harvey chews me out for more than this."
"He shouldn't."
I smiled in spite of myself. "I think the meds are working for you."
Charlie nodded. "Me too. My head feels like it's floating."
I chuckled softly. "I bet."
Charlie gave a half smile, eye drooping to an almost close. She reached for my hand and buried her somewhat chilly hand under mine. I smiled a little, turning our hands so she was on top. I rubbed the back of her hand with my thumb, relishing in the soft skin. I looked to our hand and back to her, seeing her smile a little wider than before. I smiled again in spite of myself, and even wider when she gave my hand a small squeeze.
Don't you fucking dare look at her like she's a possibility to be something more than your boss's daughter, I thought to myself. Don't think about how her hand fits in yours, or that there could be a future just because she's comfortable around you, Mike. You know better. She's seventeen and you're twenty-six. Get these thoughts out of your head.
Like that was going to happen.
In the short time I've known Charlie, she's started getting under my skin. Staying away from her like I should was either going to be the best choice I ever made in relationships or the fucking worst.
I looked back to Charlie, who was back to sleep in a light slumber just in case I retracted my hand from hers or something happened. I smiled a little, raising our hands and brushing my lips against her hand in a small kiss. Charlie took in a deep breath just after, like falling into a deeper sleep.
Soon, there was a knock on the door. Just after I watched Charlie loll her head toward me again. I turned to the door, seeing Harvey standing there with his hands in his pockets casually like he was seeing a client. After looking to him, I looked back to Charlie, who was still asleep.
"How is she?"
"Alright. Tired."
"And the results?"
"Still waiting on them."
"God damn it, can't these nurses move faster?"
"It's not the nurses who process the results."
"Of course you'd know."
I nodded in response.
"Has she been awake at all?"
"Yeah, she just fell back to sleep. The medication is kicking her ass."
"I see that."
"Harvey, listen, I'm sorry."
"I know. You mentioned it before."
"Charlie doesn't blame me," I uttered as Harvey took the seat on the other side of her, watching her sleep.
Harvey sighed. "She looks like her mom."
"You remember her mom?"
Harvey gave me an incredulous look. "Yes, I remember her mother, genius. Robin was one girl I kept seeing while I was in Harvard Law. She stopped seeing me just before grad and I think she dropped out and then went back. I don't know what happened to her, to be honest. She just dropped off my radar, and I figured there was a reason for it."
I nodded, really not knowing what I could say.
"I didn't know I got her pregnant. I never was told or received a notice for child support payments."
"Maybe she didn't need it. Charlie calls herself a law firm brat."
Harvey sighed again, looking to Charlie's sleeping face. I looked to her, feeling my heart leap when my gaze went back to her lips.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, don't look there because then you'll want to kiss her again and you are NOT doing that in front of Harvey.
