Towel And Cake
Author's Note: this was a gift for Sasuke's birthday on 2014. And, I could say this one was my first try at writing in present tense and sasuhina family. I forgot either I put the edited one (thanks to my beta) or not, and I'm too lazy to check it once again, so maybe later. Later. LOL, let's get to the story. Enjoy!
He rubs his temple for the umpteenth time. Criminal after criminal just comes in his view one after another. The queue of don't-let-them-die criminals guided with anbus who caught them still go on until god knows how long. The one who stole a scroll, a bunch of unknown ninja who oddly crossed Konoha's border in the same time and the same place (he thinks maybe they are in the same group of criminals), the wanted one that eventually is found because of his failed attempt to kidnap his daughter (which he do not want to take a risk for losing an Uchiha that he has been reviving since three years ago, and still is working on that), and the list still go on.
Initially, he did not accept this job because he did not want to. But, Naruto literally begged for him to be the Chief of Anbu Black Ops seven years ago. So he accepted the job because he did not want Naruto to come to his home every night and day just so he could eventually accept his offer. Or plea in this case. At first, he found the job was easy seeing that a lot of understandings has been made for the sake of peace among nations after the last war. How he is regretting his decision now because he has to face the smaller cases but with a lot bigger in quantity. And not only him who is in charge, his subordinates are struggling their more effort for handling the smaller cases that are much more bigger in quantity than he is forced to handle.
A toad just appeares out of nowhere on top of his desk. A scroll of parchment paper attached to its back. He glared at the toad that keep silent waiting for him to take the scroll. He takes a deep breath, he feels uneasy if he has to face additional task. He glances at his assistant on his right to handle the situation for a moment whilst he focuses his attention on the unopened scroll. A firm strong and calloused hand pulls the rope that was attaching that scroll to the toad's back. In an instant, the toad disappeared in a puff of smoke, leave nothing in trace but a scroll.
He opens the scroll only to face a messy handwriting. It is like the writing itself brings him dizziness and the urge to just rip the scroll apart. He rubs the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger while reading the letter scroll.
To Sasuke Uchiha
Teme! I want to give bonus for ya. Go home, take a rest, and forget anything in your department for a day- night, I mean. Ryuto will do everything. I can guarantee. Tired, aren't you? Me too. But I can't just give the tasks to random people as they are concerning the whole village. Damn, slowly I'm regretting my decision to be the Hokage. But damn, this Hokage thing is too much to handle. I'm serious, even Ino always scolds me for being late to home recently. No, you just won't become the next hokage anytime soon, Sasuke. I refuse to retire. Take it easy, man. I'm just joking.
At last, convey my greetings to Hinata. I miss eating dinner together, we four. It is even better if we have the chance to make it six of us. In addition of Gaara and Sakura. I miss them, but they live in Suna, what can we do?
He raises an eyebrow. Maybe, it is better what can I do? He thinks to himself.
Give me the time and I'll adjust my schedule. Oh and yeah, don't forget to bring the twins! I'll bring Minato so they can play while we talk about something they aren't supposed to know yet.
Regards,
Naruto Uzumaki, Nanadaime Hokage.
Sasuke clicks his tounge. That showoff bastard. While he had the last one step to become the hokage, Naruto beat him in the last hours. It was just a matter of luck. If Naruto decides to retire from being a hokage, he will gladly offer his hand for a help. But he respects Naruto with all his heart he can give to become the Nanadaime Hokage of Konoha. His full heart is for his wife, absolutely.
He cocks his head to his left to take a sight of time right now. Fifteen minutes more and Konaha will start a new day. He sighs and decides to start clean up his mess on the desk.
"Okinawa," he calls his assistant while preparing his leave.
The called anbu snaps his head and straightens his body right away. "Yes, sir."
"Clean up and go home," Sasuke says, his expression callous.
Ryuto frowns slightly, even after ten years training to cover any shift of expression, still, confusion consuming his face. "But, sir-"
"Send the rest to the other department. Anbu is already taking too much."
"Sir-"
Sasuke sighs. "It's an order."
Ryuto seems uneasy for a second, but soon followed with relieved expression. "All right, sir," he says flatly. Although, Sasuke can see that the brown haired anbu is delighted. Ryuto fixes his glasses posisition with his forefinger a little bit too much. Hazel eyes seem brighten more. "Thank you, Uchiha-san."
Sasuke gives a curt nod and takes his belongings before he walks toward the exit door. Ryuto stands up and bows his head a little to respect his leader.
Sasuke slides the wooden door only to hear sound of a sobbing child. His eyes widen; father's alert is on. His black eyes turn into the renown crimson sharingan complementing his rinnegan. With impossible speed for normal people he slides the door to be fully opened. Eyes glaring wildly at anything that comes in the view. His eyes stop at the sight of his three years old children. The sobbing child is the girl, while the boy seems to try to soothe her from whatever that made her cry. Their activities stop for a while at the sound of thump caused by the edge of the door hit the wall. Eyes widen in surprisement and fear only to lock with scary sharingan-rinnegan eyes. The girls sobs harder much to Sasuke's confusion. He turns his eyes to their normal state while his face softening to be more fatherly and starts to walk toward them.
"No!" yelled the boy to Sasuke. Sasuke stops with raised hands. "Mama!" the boy yells again, only louder.
A thick silence soon follows. The boy continues to yell. "Mama! Mama!"
Rushed footsteps reverberate in the tranquil house. A door slided open with a little too much force-which Sasuke muses that they will need to fix two doors already- to reveal a blue-black long haired woman. Dressed only in a towel. Covered maybe the right word for this.
In a sudden, his mouth feels to water. He gulps audibly hard. Her creamy thighs are easy to spot, her cleavage-
"Fugaku!" Hinata rushes to her children that are sitting in the tatami mat of the living room. Seemingly unconscious of Sasuke's presence. "What happened?"
"The cake fell," Fugaku said sadly. The boy face turns downcast as he tightens his hold to his five minutes younger sister. "Mikoto did not intend to do it."
Sasuke watches the scene in bewilderment. Speechlessness overwhelming him. Only when he expands his view does he see the mess of dark chocolate cake and dark blue and gray fondant spreading on the tatami mat.
Hinata's right hand rubs Fugaku's shoulder softly. "We can make a new one."
She smiles that motherly smile to her children. The smile turns into a frown once she sees that Mikoto is still sobbing. She hugs her daughter and rubs her back soothingly. "Don't worry, Mikoto. I'm not mad."
"But, Mama," Fugaku said uncertainly. Make Hinata takes off her hold on Mikoto. "Dada's home."
White eyes widen then move to the door. Eventually, she and Sasuke lock eyes.
"S-Sasuke?"
Sasuke, after regained his composure gives her a curt nod. "Tadaima."
Hinata stands up in panic. "O-okaeri."
Sasuke walks toward her awkwardly, not knowing another thing to do. He drops his belongings near his children then pecks Hinata's lips with his own. The strained feeling on his lower part appears. He closes his eyes for a second and inhales deeply.
"You two need to sleep," he says to his children, hands still holding his wife. "It is far past the bedtime. I'm taking a bath."
With that he takes off his hold on Hinata then starts to walk toward the bathroom.
"Dada," says the girl who no longer is sobbing. Although, her eyes are swollen and her cheeks and nose are red.
Sasuke turns his head a little to the back. "Yes?"
Mikoto glances at Fugaku. Fugaku faintly nods. "Happy Birthday!" they yell in unison with toothy grins. Mikoto shows off her visible missing tooth.
The Uchiha man widens his eyes. He grunts in response. "Sleep already."
Then he disappeared behind the door of the bathroom. However, Hinata sees the smirk that is plastered on his face and smiles herself.
"Okay," she says softly, "now sleep or Dada will scold me." A fore finger is raised to point her seriousness.
The twins meekly nod in unison. They obey their mother and go to their shared room. Hinata's smile still on its right place, watching the two walk side by side. She touches her stomach absently.
"See? Making a cake is a bad decision. Regardless it was made from dark chocolate or anything unsweet you want to call it."
Sasuke, already dressed in sleeveless anbu black t-shirt and short pants with the same color, kneels beside Hinata to help her clean the mess their children have made. Drop after drop of water fall to the already messy dirt in the precious tatami mat. Hinata snaps her head up to face Sasuke. White eyes glaring with full effort.
"Dry your hair!" she sternly whispers to him. Afraid that louder voice will wake the twins. "You're not helping but a bother."
Sasuke visibly cringes. He stands and walks toward their room. But not surprised by his wife outrage. He is accustomed to it anyway. But was surprised definitely, at his first finding. "I'll be in our room," he mumbles.
Hinata hears the sound of closed door and sighs. After her cleaning is finished, she stands and goes to the sink to wash the dirty rag. She hums a little and dries her hands on the clean rag. And starts to walk toward Sasuke and her room.
She mentally thank Naruto for letting Sasuke out of work early. Yeah, in the middle of the night is early for Sasuke. For the exception of Sunday, which thankfully, Sasuke has for a free day. And he will spend those precious Sundays with his family. Sasuke is a caring father and husband. And he loves her as long as she loves him. Which is for the eternity.
Hinata slides open the door carefully. The dim light from the corner lamp let her eyes to scan the whole room. Still standing on the threshold she watches Sasuke sits on the edge of the mattress while drying his hair with a towel. Sasuke, knows that he has been scrutinized by his own wife, raises an eyebrow and throws the towel accurately on top of the nightstand.
"What?"
The woman shakes her head faintly and smiles. "Happy 25th Birthday."
"Come here," her husband says and makes a gesture with a hand, indicating her to just obey him.
Hinata takes a step forward then closes the door. With steady steps, she walks toward him. Sasuke taps his lap twice, she sits on his lap soon after. Strong arms wrap around her, firm jaw rests on top of her head.
"Thank you," Sasuke huskily whispers. Hinata only nods her head.
"For giving me a chance to marry you," he continues, "to bear my children. To let me hold our wonderful children. And to give me the privilege to live the rest of my life with you."
A tear escape Hinata's eye. She turns her head to his chest and put her hands over his arms. "You're welcome."
Peaceful silence overwhelming them. Even breaths is only sound that can be heard. Sasuke's chest rises and down due to breathing in a steady rhythm, same goes to Hinata. After a while, Hinata cranes her neck up so she can facing Sasuke.
"I'm sorry," she says softly.
Sasuke gazes at her in the eyes and raises an eyebrow. "For what?"
"For the cake," she says with a chuckle. "Now I don't have a gift for you but nine months from now."
Sasuke clicks his tounge. "It's not like I need-" he trails off. Eyes widening as realization comes in mind. "Don't tell me-you-you're?"
An excited nod is his only answer. "Yes!" Hinata cheers in happiness then rubs her stomach softly.
Carefully, Sasuke put his hand over his wife's hand. A smile, genuine smile, formed by his lips. He closes his eyes and sighs in relief and delight. "Thank you, Hinata. Thank you."
"I'm still sorry though," Hinata says, "you have to wait for your birthday present from me."
The smile turns into a smirk. His hold on her tightens. He tugs the edge of her towel playfully. "This," he says, another hand that was over Hinata's hand creeping to her lower parts. "Will be enough for now."
A blush graced his wife's cheeks in an instant. "We just had a bath!"
Though she knows that he does not care anyway.
