Good morning every one! Now, I know several people mad at me. Honestly, I do not care. This is the last time I am going to say this: I would really appreciate some reviews. This story has been viewed over 1,000 and is followed by 20 people and 13 have it in their favorites. You can just say "OMG! AMAZING!", or something stupid. I just need some input on if I'm doing this well.
*Sighs* Honestly, I do not have the time to update if I don't have some type of input. I'm a full time college student with a full time job, and I take care of my father who had a serious stroke back in March. He has had to have to operations to fix two separate bleeds on the back left side of his brain, and here in 3 to 6 months he has to have another operation.
These stories are for YOU, the readers. But if you want me to stop updating, don't review. You want to me to update more frequently, then please give me a reason. I'm not trying to sound mean or like an attention-whore, but this is how I feel at the moment.
ENJOY! I changed this around SEVERAL times before I finally settled on something.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or any of the characters from the series. I do, however, own this plot-line and other characters.
Bright white lights. That is that she was able to see. All she could feel was a searing hot pain shooting straight her aching temples and her entire body as if she had been caught on fire. The light were much too bright and the pain was absolutely too much for her to handle. She opened her mouth to try to scream, but not a single sound came out. What was going on?
As she moved to sit up, she was gently shoved down by a foreign pair of hands. If her mind had actually been clear, she would have tried to panic. Yet all she could do was ask questions in her mind. Who was pushing her back down? Where was she? Where was Sesshomaru? What was going on?
Letting out a pathetically soft whimper, Rin squirmed under the restraint of the hands, desperately trying to get up. She had to find Sesshomaru. She needed to find him. That was all, but this person/thing wasn't letting her go. Why couldn't she see anything other than a huge blur?
"Calm down girl before ye hurt ye self," came the soft, gruff voice of an elderly woman from right next to her.
That was when Rin's voice finally decided it was make an appearance. A scream of pure terror ripped from her throat.
"SESSHOMARU-SAMA!" had left her lips before she thought about anything else, such as what the elderly woman had said to Rin.
Instantaneously Sesshomaru was at her side looking as calm as ever, but his normally pure gold eyes were ringed red showing that he was anything but calm. His entire body was tense and ready for anything as the pupils of his eyes slowly turned emerald, the gold and white of his eyes turned red, and his magenta strips began to elongate across his cheek bones. In a flash, he appeared back to normal when he noticed that it was just Kaede, the priestess, who had caused Rin's alarm.
"Leave us," was his cold demand as he turned his back to the old priestess to examine Rin. He would not have left Rin's side if he had known that she was about to wake up.
With a small frown marring her wrinkled face, Kaede grabbed her medical bag from the nightstand table and headed for the door. In Rin's slowly clearing mind, she noticed that Kaede was on the short side and hunched over as if her back and shoulders could not hold her head up any more. There was also a black eye patch across her right eyes. Kaede glanced at Rin one time before shutting the door as she exited the room.
"Rin" came the deeply smooth baritone voice she had so desperately yearned to hear during this entire episode.
"Hm" she replied as she looked up into the face of the demon who had worried over her and came to her not-so-needed rescue.
Sesshomaru's long, pale fingers brushed against Rin's cheek that was slightly bruised compared to the other one. It pained him in a way he wouldn't care to admit to see her in such a state. His blood boiled with anger at the thought of what had happened to her. He wanted to coat his claws in the blood and entrails of those who had harmed her in such a way.
Yet, even was he touched her just for this short moment, little shots of electricity ran through his fingertips and across his whole body. Just from watching Rin's beautiful hazel eyes narrow, he knew that he wasn't the only one who was experiencing it just like when he had kissed her before at the mall. Almost as if acting on instinct, Rin leaned into his touch nuzzling his fingers and hand with her cheek. It hurt, but at the same time it felt so good.
"How long?" she whispered since her voice couldn't raise higher than that after she had screamed. It felt as if she hadn't talked in weeks.
"Twelve days, exactly."
Rin let out a startled gasp. One of her hands came up and covered her mouth while her eyes widened in shock.
'I was passed out for almost two weeks?! Oh, kami!' her mind screamed in horror.
Her conscious snarled and barked out, 'Well, it's your fault! You moved around too much, you bakanaru!' This little thought caused Rin to frown. She really could not deny that. It was her fault. She should have just stayed in bed and laid there like a good girl, especially when she had been hurt so badly.
"Riiiiiiiin," the silver-haired demon softly purred in her ear as he cupped her face in his large palms making them have eye contact. All it did was cause a sudden and very bright pink blush to spread across her pale, bruised face.
"Come with me," Sesshomaru demanded more than said as he slowly and gently pulled her up on her feet before she could even speak.
"Se-Sessh-" she squealed out in surprise as Sesshomaru's arms slipped her knees and behind her back, allowing him to carry her bridal style out of the room. "I can walk, you know!"
Sesshomaru caught himself from mentally and physically rolling his eyes at her. She could walk, but not in the condition she was in at the moment. "You are still hurt. This Sesshomaru will not allow you to walk until you are at full health."
"This Rin says to put her down right now because she wants to walk on her own and doesn't care that 'this Sesshomaru' has to say about it," the frail looking human girl huffed out in annoyance with a blush painting her cheeks at her boldness.
Releasing a low growl from the back of his throat, Sesshomaru gently and slowly set her down on her feet. Right as she was about to walk off, Rin found herself pinned against the wall by a very annoyed and slightly ticked off Sesshomaru. The look in his eyes caused a shiver to trail up and down Rin's spine as liquid fire of pleasure and fear coursed through her veins when he growled sensually in her ear. The tips of his canines gently brushed against her earlobe when he placed his mouth closer.
"Riiiiin, learn your place." His hands were gentle, almost reverent, as they rubbed up and down her bruised sides, barely even touching her skin. It took everything just for her to numbly not her head, still a little too shocked at how he was acting. Those hands and fingers were ghosting across her sides through her shirt, as if he was scared to touch her.
Once he released her, Sesshomaru wrapped one of his arms around Rin's tiny waist pulling her close to his side firmly. Slowly he led her through many different hallways, making sure to stop often so she did not overdo herself. He much rather have preferred to carry her in his arms where she would not hurt herself further, yet he could not deny her this. If she wanted to walk, he would allow her to walk. For now…
In all honesty Rin had found how he was treating extremely endearing. No one, except Haku and their father along with Rae and Rae's family, had actually cared about what happened to her. It made her heart swell at the very thought of him actually caring about her. But all that soon came crashing down like a tidal wave as she thought that maybe he actually did not care. She thought that maybe she was just some human who he thought that it would be fun to toy around with. Tears had almost feel from her eyes before she shut them so tight that it was a wonder she could even open them again.
The arm that was around her waist tightened possessively as soon as Sesshomaru sensed the immediate change in her mood and scent. How he was able to sense it Rin would never actually know, nor did she care. She mused that it could be because her scent had changed. Growling low in worry from above her, the normally stoic demon stopped them before pulling her against his chest.
Sesshomaru's nose buried itself deeply into the human girl's hair as he hugged her tightly to him. Long fingers ran up and down her back in soothing circles until the tense muscles eased and relaxed and her rigid body went almost completely limp against his. When he noticed that she was much calmer, he led her into the den that was right next to them where he went over to a chair and had her sit down.
Even though she was very confused, Rin obediently sat down like a good girl. When she had asked why Sesshomaru told her that she was to wait. She waited and watched as the demon left and a man walked inside not even ten minutes later.
All Rin could do was sit there staring at the old monk that was in front of her. Green speckled brown eyes were locked with the bright green ones. A staring competition ensued.
"Rin, my child, this old man has missed you dearly," came the deeply calm voice as a small smile tugged at the end of the man's thin, but surprising full lips.
Tears had begun to swell in Rin's eyes as she ran into his arms as quickly as her bruised and battered body would allow. "DADDY!" she cried out as he wrapped his long arms tightly around her, tears swelling in his own eyes as he held her close to him.
"Hush now, love. I am here now, baby girl," he whispered into the girl's hair as she clung to him, crying hard into his chest.
A feeling of absolute warmth, and security wrapped around her like a blanket of love. Her body was so filled with the love, worry, and concern from the old man as he pulled as close as he was able to. It had been many months since he had last seen his child and seeing her like this made him feel like the worst father in the world. His ex-wife was truly a disgusting and vile creature.
The silver haired dog demon watched quietly from nearby, leaning against the wall. He watched and listened as the old monk whispered sweet nothings in the young woman's ear. Watched as he kissed her bruised face over and over again, as if he couldn't believe he was truly with her once again. The man never let her out of his arms even once. After a time, the demon decided to make himself known to the monk and walked quietly inside of the room.
"Rin," he said softly, watching intently for her reaction to his presence.
Rin looked up from her father's chest, tears streaking her beautiful cheeks and softening the old demon's heart. A huge, bright smile spread across her face nearly knocking the demon to his knees from the sight of it. Pure happiness.
"Thank you. Thank you so much!" she exclaimed happily.
The elder demon simply nodded his head and released a soft chuckle at her exuberance. He watched as the girl was held closely to her father by his arms. Many thoughts had been running through his head though. Such as, how was Rin's mother a demon and her father a human monk, yet they had two full blooded demon children and one fully human child. It was, in all honesty, unheard of.
"Rin-ai," the monk said in the most loving voice. "Could you ever forgive this foolish old man for leaving you in such a horrible place? Could you ever forgive him for not paying more attention when he noticed you were aching, but instead of doing anything he listened to you saying you were fine?" the man choked out as he became overwhelmed with emotion. How he hated himself for not inquiring and investigating when Rin would over hurt and bruised. He listened to the lies she spewed about how it was nothing, and now his precious child had almost died due to his blindness.
Rin sat there on the ground on her knees, briefly wondering when they ended up on the floor, with her father as he cried and cursed his stupidity and ignorance. "Oh, ba-ba! (Pronounced BAH BAH) It isn't your fault. There, there," she whispered fiercely to him as she rubbed his back and hugged him tightly, her body finally screaming in protest. "Really, daddy. I'm fine."
The monk suddenly looked at her sadly before anger crossed his features for a brief moment.
"Rin-ai, you are not fine. That hell bitch nearly killed you! And if it had not been for Taisho's son, you would not b-"
That was the final straw. The monk's spiritual aura finally busted through its safeguards completely as his anguish overtook him. He would kill his ex-wife if it was the last thing he did. That vile woman and her thing almost killed his child. When he got his hands on her, he would make her pay dearly.
"Father!" Rin cried out in shock before hugging him tightly around the waist. The girl's presence and soft gentle spirit slowly simmering the older man down some as he clung to her as if his life depended on it. Though, it was InuTaisho's that did. The older demon had been slammed against the wall and pinned before being dropped to the floor, where he landed on his feet and shrugged his shoulders to relieve the sudden ache.
"I should have never left you, Rin-ai," the monk said, his hands cupping her face tenderly in his hands. "I should have never left you with that demoness, who doesn't even deserve the name!" he hissed angrily. His normally calm green eyes flashing and glowing purple from his spiritual power that was surging, begging to be unleashed fully.
"Rehji," was InuTaisho's stern demand. "Your daughter is alive and well. You need to calm yourself before you scare the life out of her."
Personally, Rehji's spiritual aura was now starting to make Taisho's skin itch and crawl. Yes, he knew that the monk was not powerful enough to cause a demon of his stature serious ham, but his aura made the demon nervous. Especially since it had slammed him against the wall. The inu-daiyoukai was sure that if he had been a low or middle class demon that he would have been instantaneously purified by just the man's aura alone. That was a terrifying thought. Absolutely terrifying and sobering.
Rehji finally looked at Taisho and nodded his head in understanding before dragging a hand up and down his daughter's back, holding her possessively to him. The dog demon was right. He needed to calm himself. Never in all his years living had he lost control of himself as he just did.
"Now," InuTaisho exclaimed clapping his hands together. "I'm sure that you both must be hungry. Why not come with me to the dining hall?" The inu-daiyoukai chuckled softly before heading towards the door, not even waiting to see if the two humans would follow him.
Both father and daughter nodded to each other as the stood up, not wanting to be out of the other's immediate reach. Slowly, they walked towards the door where Taisho was standing patiently and followed him down the length of the hallway. Though Rin soon stopped to stare at a picture that held three figures.
The tallest of these figures looked like InuTaisho, except he had a much colder expression and his normally liquid honey eyes held no warmth to them. His hair was up in its traditional high tonytail, except instead of being held by a rubber band it was held back by a piece of ribbon from the looks of it. His clothes was a very elegant kimono with the colors of the West. There was even his double "tailed", as she called it, mokomoko.
Standing beside him was a woman who looked much like Sesshomaru with the blue crescent moon but only one stripe on each of her cheeks. She also had a very cold expression, except it was more like she was plotting your murder from the smirk curling her lips. Her silver hair was parted and had two pieces of it tied up in ponytails on the sides of her head, giving her a younger look. Yet, even her kimono made her seem intimidating to Rin for some reason.
Then, the last figure was Sesshomaru. His eyes were a colder amber and his facial expression nearly scared the lights out of her but still intrigued her. The way his was dressed was much like InuTaisho and the woman. Instead of his mokomoko trailing down his back, it was draped across his right shoulder. Even with that cold, deadly look he attracted Rin. How odd.
Releasing a small gasp of surprise from her throat, she subconsciously stroked part of Sesshomaru's face as her face came out as a whisper and her eyes held sadness. "His eyes…they look so much colder…and lonelier than they do now…" Her green speckled brown hazel eyes nearly swelled with tears of despair as she slowly pulled her hand back. Poor Sesshomaru.
InuTaisho's voice came out low and pained as he spoke, staring at the portrait of himself, his first wife, and Sesshomaru. That was painted so long that he wondered why it was still hanging up in his hallway. "He was…just like his mother. He took after her greatly, especially being cold-hearted and uncaring." He released a soft sigh of regret before looking at the door to the dining hall.
Rin just blinked her eyes looking from the demon then to the picture and then back again before she started to walk again. So many different thoughts were now swarming her mind as she followed the powerful inu-daiyoukai inside of the dining hall where everybody was sitting. So deeply lost in her thoughts, she allowed herself to be lead over to where Sesshomaru was seated and onto the seat next to him.
Suddenly, as if a movie was playing in her mind, the events from the other evening replayed while she took a bite of her food. Everything was rushing back like a dark arrow had been shot straight into her heart as she remembered her beatings and the cruel words that her mother had spoken. She remembered how Sesshomaru had come to her rescue and what she had seen his father down with that collar thing. The conversations from days before then had even hit her as well and left her feeling a little sick at her stomach.
After giving herself a very rough and good mental shake, Rin smiled at each and every people before conversing. Her face was going to be to be hurting, for that she was sure of. This was going to be a very long night…
The young blonde-haired girl stared out over the balcony as she felt the warm presence behind her. Warm, loving arms wrapped themselves securely around her tiny waist as she was pulled back against a hard, hot chest. Her blue eyes clenched shut was the tears she fought back began to fall. It wasn't fair. Why was this world so cruel to those who did not deserve to be treated terribly?
"This is all my fault, Draco… I knew what her mother and sister did.. Yet.. I stayed quiet because she begged me to. I should have-" Rae's words were cut as she released a heart shattering sob. This was all her fault. If she had done like she believed was right, Rin wouldn't be almost broken into tiny pieces, trying to live a life as a shadow.
The male known as Draco hugged the petite female tightly to his body, letting her know silently that he was here for her. "It's not your fault, love. You did what your best friend asked you to."
Rae sniffled pathetically before angrily wiping her eyes to try to stop the tears that continued to come. Groaning in frustration and annoyance, she pulled at her long blonde locks before sobbing loudly. No matter what anyone said, she knew the truth. This was her fault.
"I let her get hurt, Draco! I should have taken her from Sara, but Rin said that she would be fine! Even though I knew that she wasn't, I still listened to her lie to me!" the petite blonde yelled out in anger as she dropped to the floor sobbing because her legs could no longer hold her weight up. "It's all my fault… All my fault…." She quietly sobbed out over and over again, grief and self-loathing consuming her very being. What kind of a friend was she to let her BEST friend live in such a place?
Draco stood there, his white eyes softening as he sat down and pulled the sad, depressed young woman in his lap and cradled her frail form to his chest. His long, tan fingers stroked her hair and her back as he just held her there. He knew nothing that he could say that would make her feel better, other than lies. So he did was he did best. He just held her and let her cry herself to sleep.
Deep inside, the dragon demon felt his blood boil in rage at the sight of her crying. This beautiful, young dog demoness should not have to suffer like this. Neither should the young human girl, Rin. There had be something that could be done to help them both out. His white eyes flashed to a deep black as he shifted and carried the small female inside of the house, determined to help both his future mate and her friend in any way that he could.
Green speckled hazel eyes stared up at the night sky that was blanketed with stars as vibrant greens eyes stared at the lush, forest scenery around them in the Takahashi family garden it was truly a beautiful place. It was a wonder that they had been able to keep it this way for as long as they had.
"Rin-ai," came the monk's gruff but soft voice successfully drawing Rin out of La-La Land. "This old monk has a story to tell you from long, long, long ago."
Rin rolled over onto her side and looked towards her father as her bruised lips lifted up in curiosity. "Really? You haven't told me a story since I was a child." She quickly crawled over to him and smiled up at his old, weathered face.
Rehji smiled weakly at his child's enthusiasm, his old heart clenching in regret and sorrow. This was going to be the hardest thing that he had ever done in his life and he knew it deeply. This story was more than just a story.
"It all began 500 years ago.." he started.
Five Hundred Years Ago
Long, dark black hair the color of a raven's wing swayed in the wind as bright brown eyes stared at the battlefield in front of her. Ruby red lips curled down into a displeased frown as her eyes softened and became sad. This sight truly disgusted her and brought great sorrow to her heart.
"Look at that, m'lady!" laughed a deep male's voice from just beside her. "If we keep fighting like this, then we shall reign victorious!"
"You, my dear general, are an arrogant fool," came her soft, silky voice before she walked away, her armor silently clinking together.
Blinking in astonishment the general quickly turned and face his lady's back. "Lady Sara! I apologize if my words have offended you," he said before dropping to one knee with his right hand fisted and pressed over his heart as he brought his torso over his knee.
Lady Sara just looked down at him before stalking off in the direction of her tent. There were so many things that she had to do and not nearly enough time to do it all. With a sad sigh, she slipped inside of her tent while untying her armor after propping her sword against a post. Her armor slipped off with ease before she adjusted her kimono.
"Milady, the monk you asked for is here to see you!" came the soft voice of her personal servant, Rin a young human girl who she had stolen from the Western Lord. She was the most faithful servant the lady had ever had, and that was truly saying something considering how many she had under her.
"Thank you, Rin. You are dismissed," was Sara's response right as the monk walked inside of her tent. "Master Rehji," she said bowing slightly out of respect.
"Lady Sara," he responded bowing in return. His green eyes locked with her brown ones as he stood straight up, towering over her. Both of them instantly felt a small spark of attraction but chose to ignore the deep connection that they felt for each other. "You requested to see my, milady?"
"Yes. I need help with something that only you can help me with. My personal servant needs to have her scent hidden and an illusion thrown over her. I despise having to ask for your service, but I shall pay you well, Master Rehji."
"Your request shall be fulfilled, milady. Might I inquire as to why?" he asked in a slightly confused voice. This was a new request from Lady Sara and it greatly confused him.
"I rescued her from the Western Lord, and now he is seeking her out," she said softly before turning to face the wall that held a map upon it. In all truth, she had taken the girl because she wanted to possess the girl's power for herself. The power to manipulate not only nature and plants, but living creatures of all sorts. But no one, not even the young girl, knew of this.
"Of course. You wish is my command, milady." Frowning, Rehji turned towards the entrance of the tent to leave. His business here was completed and he needed to leave.
"Monk." Her voice stopped him. Slicked than honey but sweeter than nectar. It made him ache and his heart to clench. "I have one more request to make of you."
Rehji mentally sighed before he turned and faced the beauty in front of him as she dropped her kimono to the floor, leaving her body nude and exposed to his eyes. "Sara," he hissed out as his eyes hazed over some while they trailed down her body, left there for him in all its glory. She truly was a beautiful woman.
"Please, Rehji… I have missed you, my love," she whispered softly before taking a step towards him. She had missed him so much that she had felt his absence more than she would have admitted. Curse the gods who kept them apart.
Closing his green eyes, he knew that he was going to pay for this later on. He did not care, nor did he listen to his inner instincts telling him to leave her alone before she was pregnant with his child. But he ignored everything as their night was filled with the love, the sadness, the anger, the lust, and just how much they had missed each other during their long length of time apart.
Many weeks later, the young human girl, who the Lady of the South had stolen from the West when she had been there for an important meeting with the Lord of the West, slipped out of her tent. She ran as she could to the border where she knew her lord was waiting for her at. Running faster than she had ever ran before, she finally reached the border and crossed, oblivious to the fact that her Lady was already there with her Lord.
"She belongs to the West. Return her, or suffer the consequences," came the demon lord's emotionless and stoic voice.
"She is just a human. What meaning could she have towards you? You, the demon, who despises all humans," Sara replied, her face as blank as her voice.
"Lord Sesshomaru!" came the girl's voice as she ran towards her Lord, nearly letting out a happy cry. The look she received from the demon lord stopped her in her tracks.
"What are you, human," he stated coldly, not really caring.
Rin looked a little startled and positively confused by his reaction to her. "It's Rin, Lord Sesshomaru. Rin was coming to her Lord Sesshomaru."
"Go back to the tent, girl," came Sara's chuckling voice. Rin's head dropped down sadly as she realized that her Lord did not recognize her. What she did not know what that the night the monk had come the drink he gave her hid her scent from the Lord of the West and the "blessing" he bestowed upon her was to give her the appearance of another. She did not know any other this, and neither did Lord Sesshomaru.
"Lord Sesshomaru," she choked out in anguish. "How can you not recognize you Rin?" Turning on her heel, the young human ran back to the border of the Southern Territories.
"My, my, my. Still as cold as always, Lord Sesshomaru," giggled Sara as she used her elegant fan to fan herself only to let out a whimper when a clawed hand pinned her against a tree and a growling hunched over her.
"Where is this Sesshomaru's Rin?" he hissed out in anger, his eyes flashing dangerously. Red eyes blazed and burned and his markings were beginning to turn jagged. This was not amusing him. He wanted his human back right this instance.
"She's hidden in a mountain in the Northern Territories," came Rehji's surprisingly calm voice as he stepped out from the shadows. His blood was boiling and his aura crackling at the side of Western Lord hurting Lady Sara. In all honestly, he was shocked that neither demons seem to notice. "Follow the path through the Woods of Sorrow that heads towards the ocean. Then, head in the direction of the bog where the sun never shines. There you'll find the entrance to the cave. Deep in the belly of this cave is where the girl is."
Sara just stared at him in pure shock. This was not part of the plan, but she didn't care. She didn't care that Rehji was back sooner than he had said. She was just happy that Sesshomaru and released her and flashed into an orb, leaving her with Rehji. Her throat was now hurting and felt like it was bruised.
"You foolish woman!" Rehji finally hissed out as he rounded on her and pinned her against the same tree that Sesshomaru had. "You could have gotten yourself killed!"
Blinking, she just stared at him as if he had grown an extra head. "He would not have killed me, monk. Come. Let's head back to camp." She smiled as she walked in from of him, leading the way back to the camp.
With a frown, Rehji ran a hand through his inky black midnight colored hair before following behind her. This woman…nay, this demoness was going to be his downfall.
As the years passed by, Sara slowly took piece after piece of the young human girl's unknown powers until she finally possessed them all. And slowly, the young girl began to slip deeper and deeper into a dark pit of despair until she was nothing but a hollow shell of her former self. She never smiled anymore, nor did she laugh. Never did she sing the songs she used to sing.
One night, she happened to walk by Lady Sara's chambers during one of Lady Sara's and Master Rehji's hot sessions and listened in as he pulled away from her.
"I cannot do this anymore, Sara," he groaned out as he pulled his robes back on his body, feeling disgusted with himself.
"What.. Rehji, my love. Why?" Sara nearly cried out in frustration.
Instantly, one of Rehji's hands were on her slightly swollen belly. "You are pregnant. You are carrying my seed! That is why! It was never supposed to happen! And that Rin girl… Every day I can feel more and more of her life force slipping away!"
A fist landed on the hard stone wall of the castle before Rin heard Rehji's hiss of slight pain echoed in the air of the room. He welcomed the pain since it allowed him to calm down before he accidentally hurt his lover and unborn child.
"Re-Rehji." Sara said as she grabbed the covers and pulled them around her body before walking over to him. "It's our baby… Created from our lo-"
Rehji immediately cut her off. "Not from our love. He is created from the powers you drained from that girl! You didn't think that I knew, did you? I am not a fool!" he growled out in anger as her face held shock before he put on the last of his robes and heading to the door to leave. "And the illusion on her has left. But I highly doubt if her Lord would recognize her corpse-life appearance…"
Rin brought one of her skeletal thin hands to her lips before running and leaving the area. The next morning they found her thrown off of the castle, her body broken beyond recognition. No one questioned it. No one thought about, except for one. Rehji knew the truth of what had happened. He knew that his lover had disposed of the sad girl so he said a silent prayer for her to have safe passage into the next life and to hopefully be reunited with her Lord in the years to pass.
A few days later, he became Sara's mate. And a few months later, she gave birth to their eldest son, Haku. Her son, who had nothing except for demon blood coursing through his veins. Rehji had made sure to destroy every ounce of spiritual blood running through his unborn son's veins on the night of the Mating. And so he locked away his own powers and only used them when it was called for.
Four centuries later, Sara became pregnant again. This time though, the pregnancy last for a full century instead of the usual five to seven months. Odd enough, she remained calm during the whole pregnancy. She was curious as to why she carried the child for such a long period of time, but every night for that whole century she would stroke her belly lovingly and read stories and sing the songs the human use to sing to the children at the castle before she passed on. Sara never knew she was the one who killed girl, but she did mourn her over the years and kept her deep in her heart. She truly missed the human.
Finally, when the modern times rolled around, Sara gave birth to two beautiful baby girls. But the demoness was shocked beyond belief. One of her beautiful daughters, Kimiko, was a full blooded demon and the other, Rin, was a full blooded human. She shot her mate a look of curiosity and slight fright. Never had it been heard of during the mating of a human and demon for twins to be born with one human and the other demon, except once before.
"Rin-ai," Rehji said softly as he gently took her from Sara's arms. "Sara, Love. Look, we have a human girl." He smiled softly and played with the girl's finger as she finally opened her green-speckled brown eyes that took his breath away. "And she carries both of our eye colors, my love."
"Yes…" came Sara's voice laced with something that he could not and did not want to place. "And our Kimiko is a full blooded demon with my eyes and my hair… Rehji." She looked up at him. "Why is it that two of our children are full blooded demons that look nothing like you but look like me, and our human child looks like bother of us?" she whimpered out as her eyes filled with tears.
Rehji just wrapped his arm around her shoulders and held her. In truth, he knew the reason why but he would not tell her. "I do not know, my love. But you need to rest," he said as he kissed her forehead and the demon nurse took the children back to where they could rest peacefully.
Nodding her head she instantly dozed off. Neither of them knew that this was the last time that Sara would be her normal self before she changed into the cruel demoness she was. Neither of them knew that their love would break because of a curse that the human girl put on Sara the night she left the world.
"Riiiiin-aaaiii!" came the monk's voice just as a small child with hazel eyes ran into his arms.
"Father!" she squealed out with joy. "Rin has missed you, Father! Look, Papa! Rin heals really fast and can repel demons with just a look!" Rin giggle out with joy as she pointed to her fresh cut that was healing faster than possible for a human.
In that moment, Rehji knew he had to lock away his little girl's special powers. It was then that he knew that she was a hybrid, the first of her kind. One who both demon and priestess but strangely human. That night was the first night Sara showed that she had changed.
Later on that evening, after Rehji had left, Sara brought home a man with blood red eyes that pierced right into Rin's tiny soul. Eyes that made her feel so very scared. That was the first night her kind mother turned cold and cruel. That was the night her mother beat her for the very first time and beat her older brother when he tried to intervene. That night was the night Rin's life changed from carefree and happy to what it was now.
Hazel eyes that had green flecks met the solid emerald green ones that were filled with tears. Tears slowly feel down the man's cheeks from his eyes as he pulled his precious daughter to him.
"You, my little Rin-ai, are all this old man has left to for. You are the child who carries brother your mother's and my blood and powers that I have hidden deep inside of you. On day, my child, you will unlock them and be one of the most powerful beings to have ever walked this Earth," the monk said with pride showing in his voice as he softly gripped her face. "That is why your mother wishes to harm you so. And that half-breed who is wither her wants you for himself. Be careful."
Anyone who would have present and heard the old man's voice right then would have heard the crystal clear warning in it. Rin could only nod as she stared at her father. "I promise I'll be safe for you, ba-ba." She smiled at him brightly before he nodded.
"That my girl," he softly chuckled out before grabbing her hand. "Come now, my child. You need your rest."
Smiling, Rin happily followed behind her father. This was one of those moments that she truly knew she was loved. She knew he cared for her more than anything else. And that had made her heart swell. Her father was the one man she loved unconditionally.
Unbeknownst to the father and his child, two figures had overheard the story and were now staring at each other in shock.
