In Your Memory
Chapter 6
At the sight of Lucas standing in front of her Peyton felt her heart skip a beat. (You get sexier every time i see you. Which is thankfully alot more often now since you moved back to town. What can i do for you Luke.?) She asked. Smiling up at him.
Lucas stared back at her. The expression on his face lacking emotion. (I'm here for one reason only and it's to ask you point blank what exactly is your problem.? What did i do that caused you to hate me so much.?) He asked.
Peyton's face softened. (I don't hate you Lucas. I could never do that. I love you far too much.) She said. Looking back at him.
(Then it's Brooke you hate then. Why i have no idea. But all i know for a fact is that you had no right. To keep me having children a secret back when we were together. Is wrong and goes against everything i stand for. You know what it's like to not have a parent in your life. And you allowed this lie to continue on for years.)
(Let me clarify it for you so there is no confusion. During the time we dated in high school and beyond that was this. I was using you and you were using me. We were never in love with each other. You never got over Jake i never got over Brooke. And there is nothing more to it then that. We are nothing to each other. Understand that Peyton.) Lucas said. As he began to walk away from her.
Peyton stared back at him. (I had to get her out of the way the only way to do that was to make sure she wasn't a factor in you're life. She just didn't get it. That you would be nothing to her but fufilling an obligation. You and I were supposed to be together. She just couldn't leave it alone. You'll see that one day and i'll be waiting.) She said. Smiling as she watched him leave.
Lucas re entered his car ignoring her words and drove away. Knowing this was the first and last time he would see her.
...
After talking with Haley Brooke was able to calm down and get her thoughts together. She hadn't expected her mother to react the way she did at all she knew her had a strong hatred for Lucas but hearing the truth from Brooke only seemed to fuel her more.
The questions i had regarding this situation has only grown more intense. As much as i hated admitting this to myself my mother was begining to create doubt in my mind.
I hadn't seen Lucas in years and after one encounter i was just going to bring Lucas into their life based off of what he said without actions supporting it. It seemed wrong, Naive, and using the present to re write the past.
Brooke thought to herself. As she got off the chair in the living room she had been sitting in. Leaving her phone on the nearby cushion and making her way up the stairs then through the hallway.
Once she reached the front door of her sons bedroom she put her hand on the door handle and pushed open the door slowly.
Brooke walked inside the room and closed the door behind herself.
Justice was reading a book on his bed. While Jacob was sketching in his sketchpad with his newly bought colored pencils. On his bed.
(My handsome men. Lights of my life. I need to talk to the both of you about what you heard downstairs when i was talking to grandma Victoria.) She said. Sitting down on Jacob's bed. Focusing her eyes on both boys.
Jacob looked to her. (You and grandma Victoria werent talking. You two were fighting.)
Justice then focused his gaze on his mother. (Don't lie to us momma. Grandma Victoria said this Lucas guy is the biggest mistake you've ever made and that all of us werent a family. Which means the guy she was talking about is our father isn't he.?) He asked.
Brooke looked from Justice to Jacob. Taking a breath. Before she spoke. (That's right he is. His name is Lucas Scott. Why he hasn't been in you're life is a long emotional, story that i can and will tell you later when you're older. But what's important is he wants to meet you. And maybe over time be apart of you're lives. Would the both of you be open to that happening.? I would be there with you every step of the way.) She said.
Justice took ahold of her hand. (I'm in as long we're facing it together.) He said.
It was then that Jacob spoke up. And looked to his mother.
His voice soft and small. (If we go see our dad will grandma Victoria be angry at us.? will she not love us anymore.?) He said. Panic rising in his voice.
Brooke quickly put her other hand on his. Locking eyes with him.
(No that is impossible she loves you and Justice more than anyone else in the entire world. You don't spend a second doubting that. Now do you want to come with me and Justice to meet you're dad.?) She asked.
Jacob looked back at her. (Yeah i do. Do you think he'll like us.?) he asked.
Justice looked on quietly awaiting an answer.
Brooke smiled warmly at them. (He is going to love you both very much. When i told him about the two of you. He was so happy, overjoyed. Where would you like to meet him.?) She asked.
Justice and Jacob looked to each other then back at their mother.
(The River Court!) They said in unison.
(Okay i'll pass that message along to him.) Brooke said.
Justice looked back at his mother. (What do we call him.? dad or Lucas.?) He asked.
Brooke looked into the eyes of her sons. (Which ever you're most comfortable with. I love you both.) She said. Leaning over placing kisses on their foreheads.
Before she go off the bed and made her way out of the room.
Brooke closed the door behind her. Walked back down the stairs and walked in the direction of the kitchen.
Before she started making dinner she grabbed her phone out off the couch and scrolled through her contacts. Stopping on Lucas's name. Clicking on it and she began to type out a text.
I talked it over with our boys. And they agreed to meet with you. They location they picked out was the River Court. I'm thinking this can happen in a few days. We'll meet you at 10 in the morning.
Feeling satisfied with what she wrote she sent the text.
..
At the sound of a text message notification going off. Lucas looked down at his phone. His heart racing as he read the text.
A smile came across his face as he read her words.
His hands shaking as he tied. He took a breath wanting to calm down. The excitment he felt. as he replied.
Thanks for letting me know. Can't wait to see you and them.
He sent the quickly. Putting his phone down on the empty seat beside him. As he got off the chair he was sitting in and ran towards the front door. After hearing multiple knocks on it.
Lucas opened the door slowly. Surprised at who was looking back at him. (Victoria Davis. What are you doing here.?) He asked curiosity in his voice.
She walked inside the home and looked back at him. (To ask you what's your price.? What is going to take to assure that you will have no part in Brooke and her sons life.?) Victoria Questioned.
...
