As they stood outside the apartment belonging to Magnus Bane, Jace wondered if this was really a good idea. Clary pushed the doorbell.

"Who dares disturb the warlock." A very angry voice sounded.

"Magnus, please let us up." Clary said.

"No. As I told Alec, I will not see any of you, ever again." Magnus said.

"Something's happened to Alec." Jace said. The door open before he finished the sentence.

"What happened?" Magnus asked as soon as they stepped into the apartment.

"Sebastian has him. We think he may be keeping him alive to make us come there." Jace said. No more explanation were needed. Magnus performed a tracking spell on one of the few things that Alec had left behind.

"I thought you didn't want to see him again. I thought you didn't care." Clary said.

"I may be angry with him. But I don't think I will ever stop loving him." Magnus said, avoiding her eyes.

"Done." He said. Then they took of.

Alec POV

"Why am I still alive." I asked. If he wanted to kill me, he should have done it by now.

"You are of great value to me still, Alec." Sebastian said, twisting a knife in his hand.

"You think Jace and Clary are coming to save me. They aren't that stupid." I said. And I sure hoped that I was right.

"They aren't, but they would never leave you behind. They know it's a trap, they just don't care." Sebastian said. He could just have shot a hole in my chest. It would hurt less than the thought of my friends sacrificing their lives for me.

No POV (with Clary, Jace and Magnus)

They arrived at the warehouse where the tracking spell had led them.

"I'm going to kill Sebastian." Jace said. Clary and Magnus didn't say anything. When one of his friends were in danger, nothing could make Jace relax, or put away his hunger for revenge. They entered. Inside the warehouse it was suspiciously quiet. Then out of nowhere, the lights flickered on. In the middle of the room stood Sebastian.

"Jace, sister. How nice to see you again. And you too Magnus." He said, clearly faking kindness.

"Where's Alec." Jace asked rather rudely.

"How rude of you. I had hoped that we could talk a little." Sebastian said.

"Where's Alec?" Jace repeated.

"Boys." He shouted and a door opened in the far end of the room. Two unfamiliar shadowhunters stepped in. One was very muscular and with blonde hair, while the other had brown hair and green eyes. They were dragging a struggling darkhaired boy between them. The boy looked up and stopped fighting.

"What are you doing. Get out of here." Alec yelled. Jace took a step towards his parabatai, but was stopped as Sebastian stepped in front of him.

"One more step, and he dies." Sebastian warned, and Jace took a step back, now standing beside Clary again. Jace looked at Alec again, but he didn't look back. He was looking at the shocked warlock standing on the other side of Clary. Both had unspilled tears in their eyes. But the blue eyes held only one word. Sorry. Jace saw this too. And he knew what it meant.

"Alec, no. Don't do it." Jace said. Alec looked at him again. The word in his eyes now changing. Run. Alec kicked the first shadow hunter between the legs and stoped on the others foot. He then went for Sebastian. He knew that he would not be a match for the blonde shadowhunter, but it would give his friends a chance to run. Alec got a few good punches in, before a sickening sound came from him. Sebastian disappeared. Alec was laying on the ground, a blade protruding from his chest.

"ALEC, NO." Jace shouted. All three ran to his side.

"I told you to run." Alec whispered weakly.

"You shouldn't have done that. You'd never be able to take on Sebastian." Clary said.

"I know. But you should have run. Magnus, I'm so sorry." Alec said, a single tear falling down his cheek, not from pain, but from grief.

"It's okay Alexander. I forgive you." Magnus said, brushing back some of Alec's black hair. For a moment it looked like Alec was smiling. Then his eyes went shut and his head tilted to the side.

And Jace grabbed his chest, crying out in pain.
