Chapter 6: The Confrontation part 1
Our Universe:The Portal closed as The Knight Industries Three Thousand arrived after barely escaping FLAG's previous version of KITT, The Knight Industries Two Thousand being driven by Sarah Graiman. Michael had gotten the video call from Dr. Graiman, an hour ago, but the feed had been tapped by the alternate FLAG''s computers and the Mirror-Sara Graiman had interrupted the feed. But Michael had KITT re-broadcast the field to produce the dimensional portal and then KITT had scrambled the feed, so they couldn't be followed.
"Charles, this is Mike. We're back. Were you able to stop Commander Knight?" Michael asked as he turned the vehicle to go toward the SSC.
"He escaped and is headed your way. Garth managed to get the poison meant for Hannah away from Commander Knight. It's now up to you, Michael, Be careful," Charles warned. Michael nodded and the video link on the windshield went blank leaving the heads up display to show the speed and what mode the car was driving in, in this case, Pursuit Mode.
"KITT, overlay a map and show where Commander Knight and his version of KITT is compared to our location on the heads up display," Michael said.
"Of Course, Michael. Are you sure the weapons we took from the alternate version of KARR will work," KITT asked. Michael stared at the pulsing orb that was the voice modulator box for The Knight Industries Three Thousand then finally spoke.
"Not sure KITT as we've never tested these weapons but we'll know in a few minutes. Looks like Commander Knight and KITT are right behind us," Michael said as he glanced out the rear glass of the trunk of the Mustang. There He was. The shadow of his car, but this one corrupted by a government which only cared about one thing: Survival.
"Tap me into their Coms and while you're at it, get Billy on the line," Michael said as he braked the vehicle hard and turned the care around.
"I have Billy Morgan and Dr. April Curtis on the chat box for you Michael," KITT said.
"Hey Guys, anyway we have to shut this vehicle down? Michael asked.
"We're still reviewing the data files that were sent along before Commander Knight came to our reality and it looks like the coding process could be rewritten to disable the car's Human Integration System and allow the Preservation for Human Life protocols to kick in," Billy said. He looked at April then she spoke.
"Most of these protocols were written by my counterpart so I think I can shut down the Human Integration system remotely," April said.
"Please hurry, Dr. Curtis. I may be hack proof, but not sure what this KITT is capable of," KITT said as they were accelerating up to 86 miles an hour according to the heads up display on the windshield.
"We're working as fast as we can. Hannah and Trinity are here," Charles said.
"Michael, this is Trinity. Are you sure you can stop him?" Trinity asked.
"My goal is not to stop him per se with guns or even with KITT's weaponry. My goal is to get him to change his heart and mind, to see he's been used by his government," Michael said.
"Good. What about the poison," Hannah said.
"Garth has it, Hannah. Now we're going to try another gadget that was stolen from The Mirror Universe which is a site-to-site transporter which was experimental. It was however keyed to my doppelganger's voice. KITT, activate Site-to-Site transport. Target is Hannah Melvin," Mike said.
"What?" Trinity said as she saw her friend disappear in a shroud of light only to reappear in the passenger seat of The Knight Industries Three Thousand.
"What was this used for," Hannah asked she fully materialized and she stared at Michael Knight.
"Commander Knight was supposed to use it to teleport your lifeless body to the other side. We discovered among the weaponry that was installed in your reality's version of KARR," Michael said, as the other KITT bolted by them, and a pulse cannon immediately lifted out of one of the Mirror-KITT's rear lights.
"why wasn't that listed among the weapons we confiscated?" Michael said as he activated Ski-Mode and the blast was easily avoided.
"probably because there was only one prototype made. Remember most of those weapons are not Knight Industries designed. They are LuthorCorp designed. How much longer til we can disable The Human Integration System?" Hannah asked as she looked at the windshield and the chat communications box that was open to Dr. April Curtis and Billy Morgan.
"Almost got it. Dr. Curtis on the other side really made hacking this thing easy," Dr. Curtis said.
"Go Mike. Its done. You can communicate with Commander Knight through the FLAG com system," Billy said. They then saw the other KITT stop as the car's computer systems were being rebooted.
"Commander Knight, this is Michael Knight. My team and I have overridden KITT's Human Integration System and the car is currently disabled," Michael said. Both men climbed out of their vehicles.
"What the hell did you do to my car," Commander Knight screamed at his doppelganger.
"We disabled it. More specifically we disabled The Human Integration System which was controlling you. We need to talk, Commander about you, your reality and why you were sent on this mission," Michael said. Commander Knight pulled out a gun but his hand was numbed by a pulse blast from KITT's sensor grill.
"What the hell?" Commander Knight said.
"It's technology from your side of reality, but not from KITT. This technology was taken from weaponry that was supposed to be installed in KARR, The Knight Automated Roving Robot, KITT's prototype," Mike said.
"I've never heard of KARR," Commander Knight said.
"That's because you weren't born yet when KARR was originally built. The original prototype was built in 1983, and then deactivated as it's protocols were considered to 'Nice' to be used in an ongoing war to keep humanity kept in fear by a government too ruthless to stop. I have information which was sentbefore you arrived to warn any other reality of what was to come. Apparently this warning was not supposed to be sent to the invading reality but someone on your side sent this information and my team deciphered it and we discovered your coming long before you arrived. I was sent to your side to discover what was going on. We need to talk about your involvement and why you were supposed to kill Hannah Melvin. I know what your orders are, Commander and the other orders that were downloaded into your KITT that you were not supposed to know," Mike said.
"All right where do we talk," Commander Knight asked.
"You know where Knight Industries Technology is?" Michael asked.
"Yeah, 9th street and South Main Street is?" Mike asked.
"Yeah. On my side it's a warehouse that Trinity Marie Knight bought to start her own company before she joined FLAG," Commander Knight said.
"it's the same here but on this side, it's active and on your side it's where Ephraim Knight hid weapons for KARR, that neither Wilton nor Charles knew about. I found those weapons in an outdated version of KARR that I updated. KARR told us where duplicates of those weapons were and I installed them in KITT just to be prepared in case if my team couldn't override your KITT. Your KITT is rebooting its software, so drive it as if it's a normal car. Follow me to the warehouse. Charles had built a holographic imaging device we can use. You need to know what your government is keeping from you," Mike said. Both men nodded to each other then climbed into their cars and followed one another.
