Frost and Water
Jacks' Pov
Ari. The spirit of water. An important aspect to the battle. I was reflecting on what happened when there was a laughter behind me. I jumped up, but only saw Frostbite. "Were you laughing?" I asked, and he shook his head. "Who's there?" I said trying to hide the unsteadiness in my voice. "Spirit? Are you playing a prank on me?" I called out. "Jack." A voice weakly said, and I looked around panicking. It sounded like Spirit. "Spirit!" I called out, but there was more laughing. "You're such a fool!" Pitch said, and appeared carrying Spirit by the back of her shirt. "Let her go!" I said, trying to hold back tears. "Tell me who that girl was!" Pitch demanded, and Spirit shook her head. "I'll be fine." She mouthed, and I looked away. "...No."
"What do you mean no?" "I mean no!" I said, and Spirit smiled weakly. "Fine. If you won't tell me then I'll find out myself!" He said, and disappeared with Spirit. I sank to my knees. "How could I be so stupid!?" I asked myself. I stood up. "Ari. I have to find her! It's obvious Pitch will stop at nothing to get her, and I can't let that happen." I readied myself to take off, but Frostbite tugged at my hood. "What?" I asked. He pointed at my room. "What?" He flew towards it. I followed him. He showed me a note.
Jack,
I found my new place why don't you visit.
Ari
It listed an address after her signature, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I knew where she lived! I'm one step ahead! I flew into the air and out the window, this time Frostbite didn't stop me.
"Ari!" I called, and Ari smiled at me, and waved. "Hey Jack!" She said. "How does my home look? Pretty cool huh?" "It looks great, but I have to warn you of some-" I was interrupted by a laugh. "You really are naive." Ari said, and I took a step back. "A-Ari?" "No you fool! This is all a trap!" She said, and her appearance started to distort. Her legs extended. Her arms started to bend in unnatural angles, her face distorted, and her blue eyes were replaced with yellow orbs. I tried to open the door, but the knob wouldn't turn. I found myself banging in desperation, pining for an exit. I tried to break the windows, anything that would form a way of escape. I found nothing.
Pitch was just observing me, judging. "So what are you going to do now huh? You have me trapped." "Oh you're going to stay here while I look for your friend. Since I know her name it shouldn't be hard" He said, and turned into a shadow, then was gone. I buried my head in my arms, my staff leaning against me. "I am such an idiot! I gave him what he wanted, and now I'm just sitting here while he doing God, knows what!" I said. "It's not your fault." A small voice behind me said, and I turned around.
I beheld a small Ari. "Ari?" I asked hopefully. "No, I'm her sprite Silence." She said, and my shoulders slumped. " I take it you don't know how to get out of here." I said, and she shook her head. "No, I'm sorry." " It's okay, we'll think of something." I said. "If we just put our heads together." "But if I do that, I'll stick to your head. " She said, and I smiled. "I don't mean literally. It's a metaphor." "It's a dumb one!" Silence exclaimed. "I know." I said, and I sat in silence with Silence for a few more minutes.
I looked at the ground, and saw it was dirt. "Silence! I have an idea!" I said, and started to dig. The ground tore away when I started to dig. "C'mon! We're getting out of here!" I said, and Silence followed me as I continued digging. I started to dig up, and managed to find the surface of the earth. I heaved a sigh of relief, and Silence smiled. "Well what are we standing here for? Let's go find Ari, and Spirit." I said, and we flew off. Probably to our deaths, but that didn't matter at the moment.
Another chapter done!
Spirit: I'm going to be sad when this story ends.
Me: I'm sorry Spirit. You'll still be other stories. I promise.
Spirit: And Ari, and Jack?
Me: Wouldn't be a story without them, would it?
Spirit: Yay!
Me: I will not be introducing any more new characters to this story, I have introduced enough
Spirit: For some reason I don't believe you.
Me: I don't either. So, until next chapter!
