Chapter 7- The Heart and Mind Agree
The soft click clack of shoes could be heard as he walked down the hall, the suit he wore to the occasion making him feel nervous about the whole thing. He held flowers in his hands because, that's what you do when you go to these things, right? Wolf let out a sigh. It had been about a month since the incident where Fox was dropped from the roof. Since then a lot had happened: Falco was put on trial and managed to get out on an insanity plea (thanks to Wolf of course) he is currently being held in a mental hospital to try and get rid of his urge to sell any sort of male for cash with the occasional assistance of Mr. Indigo. Speaking of which Wolf had to make sure to find a way to thank that big lion someday for what he did. Indigo had been walking when he heard of an incident occurring at the academy and ran over just in time to witness the poor fox falling to his doom. The large lion had done the only thing he could, he ran forward to catch the fox and hopefully keep him from losing his life. Wolf could never forget the sight he saw that day as he looked down over the edge. Even as he walked through the halls of the hospital he could still clearly see the fox being held tight against the lion's chest as the lion lay down unconscious. Indigo managed to walk away with just a broken rib or two, but Fox had to be kept for a while to deal with some other trauma and much more serious injuries sustained during the fall. His footsteps stopped as he reached the room that Fox was being kept in as he took a deep breath as the door opened.
Fox was lying in his bed; it had been a month since everything happened. The traumatizing events that led up to him being dropped off of a building took their toll on the poor fox making him occasionally suffer from night terrors and frequent nightmares that would wake him up at night. Everything that happened had driven him over the edge, his old friend had sold him like a pimp, then had him brutally raped in his own home before going crazy and nearly killing him in front of the entire academy, and the only people who kept him sane during the whole thing were his boss, and the man he declared his enemy when he piloted and eventually fell in love with. The sound of the door opening snapped him out of his deep thought as the familiar grey wolf steps through the door in a fancy suit while carrying flowers making him smile. "You don't need to do this" he said to the larger male "I told you that I can wait until I'm discharged in a week or two" but Fox knew that once Wolf decided something, he was hell bent on following through "I would but then what would I do for the next week or two?" Wolf said with his usual cocky grin "Try to plan out the perfect first date for you? As if I'd wait that long to make it official between us" Wolf said with a laugh before sitting down next to the fox's bed "Besides, I needed to make up an excuse to want to see you so badly" he said as he set the flowers on the fox's lap and wagged his tail "So how have you been doing lately?" he asked as Fox took a second to think before answering "Well, the doctor has been telling me I've been recovering well, I should be able to get out sometime this month and then be able to walk unassisted after another month or two" he said as he picked up those flowers and gave them a small sniff "oh! And I'm not experiencing any more night terrors or nightmares anymore!" he said happily as he looked at Wolf who clearly looked upset. Fox put his hand in Wolf's lap as he smiled "Stop beating yourself up about it… If it didn't happen where would we be now? You'd be successful and I'd be working a dead end job for the rest of my life" he said with a smile "I'm hurt by what happened but… I can't help but be glad because it brought us together" he said before trying to get up and groaning "I-I'd give you a kiss but" he was suddenly cut off by Wolf getting up and pressing his lips to the fox's. The stayed there for a good while as they shared a moment they wished could last forever before Wolf broke the kiss "I hate to tell this to you, but the folks at the hospital Falco is being held in are asking if you could come along to comfort and maybe gain closure with Falco once you're discharged" he said with a sad smile "I'm still amazed that you testified his insanity at the trial. If I was you I would have him booked for attempted murder" Wolf said angrily as he punched his hand "have him get a taste of his own medicine in jail as someone else's bitch for a change" before he took a breath and calmed down "but I love that about you. You can always forgive people, just like me," he said as he sat down and enjoyed Fox's company. Time flew as suddenly visiting hours were over and Wolf had to leave.
-Two Weeks Later-
Fox and Wolf walked down the hallway, or rather, Fox moved with his crutches. They walked down to a large door marked "Visiting Room" and waited for it to open. Once inside they saw them. Mr. Indigo standing next to Falco who sat in a chair on the side of the room. He stood up and ran to Fox as Wolf took a defensive stance when suddenly Falco embraced the fox and began to cry. Fox stood in shock before he hugged the falcon back "Shit fox" Falco said "I can't believe how f**ked up I was when I treated you like that" he said before pulling away "it started when I discovered the darker parts of town where deals went down and discovered how rich people there were just from selling other people, and from buying and selling drugs" he said before coughing a bit "I've been going through detox for any of it I had in my system and I've been doing well trying to avoid thinking about doing any sort of pimp work any more" he said with a smile "they said if I have good behavior I can get out of here in a few weeks" he said before giving a small smile "of course… I gotta make sure to check in every week or so with there, he's gotta be the nicest guy I ever met and if you ask me" he said before leaning in and whispering "I might try my luck on the receiving end with him if you know what I mean" he said before winking at the two "So how have you two been? I heard that you two went on date number two once you were discharged" Falco asked curiously as Fox looked surprised "D-Date? W-Wolf just made me my first decent meal I've had in weeks and after that we went upstairs and… slept" he said blushing as he said the last word prompting wolf to wrap his arm around Fox's shoulder and smile "well, it was his first time in our bed so he had to get used to it" before Fox gave him a punch to his side. They all stood and laughed for the first time in what felt like forever as they finally all talked and spent time with no harsh feelings between them.
From then on days passed, then weeks, and then months. Fox and Wolf were still together on their first year anniversary of their first date. Falco finally got together with Indigo once he was given a clean bill of health and didn't have to check in again. Falco didn't have to do much but be there for Indigo and vice versa and eventually they managed to develop feelings. They met together on the two year anniversary of the start of all this and laughed at what happened and where they ended up. Time seemed to fly by and before long on the fifth anniversary Fox tied the knot with Wolf and it wasn't long after that Falco and Indigo tied their own. It seemed like everything was going right, and all it took was a push in the right direction by the crazy bird, and suddenly they all were married and happy, but whether the marriages would last is something that no one can predict.
