Meanwhile back on the Watchtower, the league was questioning the Doctor and his plans.
"How will utilising the Ark Angel network, allow you to start finding the people responsible for the attack on the White House?" Superman asked.
"Because, the Ark Angel satellites are programmed to monitor and influence humanity. I have a sneaking suspicion that there may have been alien involvement. Readings I took on the night were not displaying results typical of those I normally get on Earth."
The Doctor pulled out his Sonic Screwdriver and a small black box from his pocket. He passed the box over to Bruce and signalled it to be inserted into the computer. Activating the screwdriver, he pointed it at the box and then to the screen.
"What's that?" Superman asked, as he lifted his hands off of his ears.
"Oh sorry, I should have said, if you have sensitive hearing, this may irritate you. Its a Sonic Screwdriver, my favourite gadget."
The screen began to show the planet below with dots starting to appear and move around the surface, very slowly.
"This shows every human on the planet. Using this, we can analyse the human footprint in the White House. We can even determine each dot's identity."
He pressed his screwdriver again and the globe on the screen began to spin round until North America faced out and then it zoomed down to Washington DC and then to Pennsylvania Avenue and ultimately the White House.
"Sorry, did that hurt again?" the Doctor asked Superman.
"No, now I know to expect it, I am able to tune my hearing out from that frequency band."
"Thats good. Right this is the White House on the night of the attack. If we observe the pattern of movements in the room where the banquet was taking place, we can see that as I play it on at speed, none of the dots moves over to the wall where the graffiti was left. This means that we are dealing with an alien presence."
"How can we work out who it was?" Green Lantern asked.
"The only way is to look at the evidence and the crime scene carefully. There is no other way using the satellites and my readings are really faint and not much use."
"So as the Doctor says, we need to go and look at the evidence," Batman said. "Flash, I need you to get onto you police connections and get hold of the evidence, take Lantern with you. Superman and Wonder Woman I need you to fly over Washington and look for any suspicious and potentially alien activity. The rest of us, including the Doctor, are going to the White House to interview the staff and look around the crime scene."
"What about the kids?" Flash asked.
"They can help to coordinate the operation and compile the data. Black Canary, can you go and inform them of their task and then rendezvous with us back here."
Black Canary nodded, got up and walked out of the room.
"What about Alex Doctor, would you like him to be with you or aid my team?" Batman asked.
"Oh I think he would benefit from getting away from me, I think he needs to have some new experiences and I am sure he has learned enough from me to look after himself."
"Ok," Batman said. He lifted his finger up to his ear and spoke. "Canary, tell the Doctor's friend he is to work with the team on the coordination. Batman out."
"Right, if you are with me, I will give you a lift down to the White House in my ship," the Doctor said.
Down in Mount Justice the team were sitting in the kitchen listening intently as Alex recounted his adventures with the Doctor.
"He took me to the planet Manx, where the core of the planet is made of an edible sugar solution, which the natives use to make the best chocolate in the universe. It is so rich, you can only have one a day, but it does give you all the nutrients you need for that day."
"You really get to see so much. I wish I was able to travel like that," Miss Martian said, gazing off into the distance.
"She's off again," Kid Flash joked, flashing a smile over to Alex.
Alex smiled back before he said, "I am sure the Doctor might take you on a trip when we are finished here."
"Oh I would love that."
Just then, the zeta-tube in the cave burst into life.
"Recognised, Black Canary, 1 3."
"I wonder what Black Canary is here for," Superboy said.
His answer came soon after, as Canary walked in to the kitchen.
"Good, you are all here. Batman has asked me to inform you that you will be providing support from here, keeping each team informed of each other's findings. You will also be providing tactical backup if we require it."
"What about me?" Alex asked.
"The Doctor wishes you to stay here and provide support for our team. Is that alright with you?"
"That is absolutely fine with me," he replied, looking over to Kid Flash, who was busy stuffing his face with Miss Martian's cookies.
Aqualad stood up and motioned to Black Canary to talk to her privately. They walked over to the other side of the kitchen.
"Can we trust this Doctor and his friend?"
"Batman is confident in their credentials and has been reading up on them. This Doctor has done a lot of work to save the planet on numerous occasions and there are legends throughout the universe of his actions."
"If Batman trusts him then so must I."
"I am confident he knows what he is doing."
The two of them nodded and went to join the rest of the group.
"Right lets go to the control centre and start monitoring the teams," Aqualad said.
"I need to head off, they are waiting for me in the Tower," Canary said.
"Good luck," Robin said as she walked out of the room.
"Recognised, Black Canary, 1 3."
"Right lets get on then," Robin announced.
"Before we do, am I allowed to know your real names?" Alex asked.
"I believe that is acceptable," Aqualad said. "I am Kaldur."
"Nice to meet you officially Kaldur," Alex replied.
The rest of the team took their turn to say their name and then Alex greeted them all officially. When it came to Kid Flash, he let out a little chuckle.
"Whats so funny about my name?" Wally asked.
"Wally? Oh its just that in the UK, we call someone who has been a bit stupid and done something silly, a wally. It is an affectionate term."
Wally's hurt soon disappeared and he gave a broad smile.
The team then headed out to the control room, ready to coordinate the mission.
